can draw blood from pretty much anywhere there's blood including an artery one of the most common things we actually draw from arteries is something called an ABG or an arterial blood gas an arterial blood gas helps us measure one the pH of the patient's blood as well as the oxygen in the patient's blood the CO2 the bicarb as well as if they have a base excess or base deficit but that's just one lab that's specific to drawing off an arterial Source we can also draw our normal Labs as well like your cbc's your cmps really any lab can come from an arterial Source because it's blood and we're drawing blood I would say it's definitely a little more uncomfortable to draw blood from an arterial Source we can do just like a onetime little stick or we can place something called an arterial line that's essentially similar to an IV but it's in an artery and we can measure a continuous blood pressure we can draw Labs off of it and it basically just stays in place until it we don't need it or it doesn't work so yeah kind of cool let me know if you have any questions
