[Music] will the Atlanta Falcons run wild on that Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line that's been injury prone here this preseason and also the Steelers go ahead and ink their veteran defensive frontman cam Hayward to a threeyear $45 million extension and let's dive in welcome back guys to Mike drop Sports I'm your host Jason here we are on a Wednesday live on the channel trying to give ourselves a little bit of a different look here yet again trying to find out the things that work best for me so I'm up a little bit higher uh trying to be a little bit more comfortable as I talk to you guys daily here with live shows and our daily upload but again guys the Pittsburgh Steelers that's what we're here to talk about and the Pittsburgh Steelers now head into week one at Atlanta to take on the Falcons and the big question mark there is what is that offensive line going to be able to hold up are they going to be able to uh do the things that are necessary in order for this offense to be successful and a lot of people out there a lot of analysts seem to think that the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line is going to really cost the Steelers they're here in the early part of the 2024 season will the Steelers get off to a rocky start because they aren't able to be secure up front I think maybe people are blown it out of proportion a little bit because I really really like the young talent that the the Pittsburgh Steelers possess along that offensive line guys that will be filling in here uh in Atlanta for Isaac camalu one being Spencer Anderson a guy in his second year that I feel like has taken big strides in his short period of time in the NFL that is going to show that he can get the job done and be a very serviceable young man uh playing on that offensive front and uh really protect Russell Wilson and really um give that running game a boost in my eyes he's young he's fast he has freshh legs he's ready to go uh again second-year guy has some knowledge of this game at the NFL level now and uh getting his first start and I I really feel like he's going to be fired up and really ready to take advantage of this situation and uh Spencer Anderson isn't the only young rookie guy that's going to be starting right beside him you will have uh WVU stand out and the second round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers at Center and that's Zack fr a young guy that I've been Ultra excited about that I think will uh really be a commanding Force along the front of that line and a guy that can really get the job done High football IQ uh great athleticism if you ask me good enough for uh what the Steelers are going to be asking him to do a guy that's not massive to where he's not going to be able to get out there and do the pulls and uh the adjustments that the Pittsburgh Steelers require of their Center and uh I think Zack Frasier fits the mold I I have told you guys over and over that I think he was the best center in this entire draft I think the Steelers ended up getting a home run type pick with him and uh I really really value what Zack Frasier is going to bring and I think as we move through these weeks here at the beginning part of the season I think Zack Frasier will grow every single week and you will continually see a better and better version of him as the season marches on and that's exactly what you're looking for with that young Talent so Zack Frasier is a guy that I think can get the job done you're coupling him up with a second-year guy and Spencer Anderson then you move over to the right guard position you have a veteran in James Daniels then you move back over to to Dan Moore Jr who had the best preseason out of any offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers I know that wasn't saying much considering their performance in the preseason but again I don't hold a lot of stock in preseason performances but uh Dan Moore Jr has experience starting there I think he will be able to be serviceable uh and be able to get the job done until the Steelers are able to figure out their their whole alignment uh moving forward into the future I think rodri Jones will rebound a little bit from his poor preseason performances uh considering he's had a couple weeks here to allow that elbow to continually heal up I think that that is a major issue I know that the team and broadrick himself said no that isn't the the case but you don't wear a brace on there and you're not uh looking like your favorite in a game for no reason so uh again I think he's had some time to start healing that up a little bit I think that broadrick will bounce back here and have a a big game in Atlanta uh a game in which we could all be excited for because you can you'll be able to see that he is also one of those guys that will continually get better I think as the season progresses now the Steelers can't afford no more injuries guys yes they have a few more young guys that they could go and lean on and Mason McCormick for in um but if you're the Steelers you can't afford any more injuries along that offensive line Health has to be uh a major major major thing that has to work in the Steelers favor here along that offensive front now moving forward uh they've sustained their injuries losing veteran Nick herb or Nate herbig um then you lose ISAC camalu which is best case scenario he'll be back in a couple weeks thankfully um and Mike Tomlin actually said that he was a guy that was a weak to weak type guy that they would re-evaluate him as time moves forward here so you may see Isaac camalu a little sooner than maybe anticipated so thankfully all those things seem to be working in the Steelers favor here and thank God that it wasn't uh a more significant injury to where you would have lost another veteran for the year or a a significant amount of time um again guys I I I really think that this offensive line will be okay but again help Heth has to be on their side here luck has to be on their side with the health uh the health thing uh one of the reporters though asked the Pittsburgh Steelers um exactly what he what he thought what Mike Tomlin thought asked uh Mike Tomlin what he thought of this Pittsburgh Steelers offense and and if it was going to be uh maybe um better than you know we all think uh better than anticipated in that wide receiver room Etc and uh I'll play this clip here now of what Mike Tomlin had to say to that reporter offense does you believe it has more Firepower than it did in the last few years I'm not interested in making you comfortable today to be quite honest with you those are just words and really at the end of the day is somewhat meaningless uh we'll have an opportunity to put some tape out there this weekend that's kind of reflective of that discussion I'm more of a do than a talker um talking glowingly particularly when you're undefeated this time of year is easy um and I'm not attracted to easy um we just want to work um and we're going to put some tapee out there that's kind of reflective of Our intention heard that those words from Mike Tomlin of what he had to say there that was kind of a typical Mike Tomlin response uh he's been a little bit snarky here lately uh in the last few years with with the media I feel like he's uh you know kind of kind of you know found himself in that in that category he's not so politically correct every time uh when he speaks to the reporters and he's like look I'm not trying to make you comfortable right now so it doesn't matter but uh yeah those were the words for Mike Tomlin so I expect big things from an Arthur Smith offense and um Mike Tomlin seems to be confident in his group I I mean of course that's what he's going to say I am confident in that group again I give you my score prediction 28-10 I would really go and crush the bets on the plus three and a half the Steelers are the dogs uh so I would go and take that bet all day long um let's continue to move forward here on a Wednesday here on the channel again like share Subs SC cribe all that good stuff uh we have gained a ton of members a ton uh of subscribers here as of late so let's continue that theme and without all of you guys none of that happened so again I I thank you uh I'm very humbled by your help and your um assistance and building this community of uh thousands of fans man and it is awesome so uh let's continue to talk Steelers here Cameron Hayward gets that extension 3 years 45 million roughly uh works out to what 15 million a year if you uh you know break it down over these next three years they gave him the signing bonus I believe it was like 15 or16 million uh for that signing bonus so that should free up in theory here uh cap space for the 2024 season so which continues to make me skeptical of other moves and other contracts uh that could be added uh you got guys like a pat fouth that many want to be resigned here um maybe his deal isn't as large since they gave that big money to cam Hayward 15 million year really if you uh break it down that money has to be paid somewhere so uh it just doesn't magically disappear uh but again uh maybe you get Pat FR for around $10 million per season uh I think honestly guys if I it were me and I was signing Pat forth you know a couple year deal might make sense you know uh front end load it give him a lot of money up front in terms of uh cash signing bonuses and uh you know really frontend load that contract for a couple years with the steel having that option uh for the second season allow him to prove himself in terms of health and production and uh being available so uh allow him to do that and uh then kind of put yourself in the position to where next year when a lot of cap space will be available for the Pittsburgh Steelers um maybe you can tear that deal up that you put in place here this off season and uh rework and renegotiate a contract in a more fair uh way for Pat Fruth you know uh terms of a long-term deal uh so maybe that's what the Steelers do again front unload a contract you can always tear it up in the back half and uh kind of rework that at at any time so that would be based off of his production and all that good stuff uh health I think is the major concern for Pat um but another thing there is health for Cameron Hayward an aging Superstar 35 years old um many think he still has gas in the tank some think that he doesn't uh I'm kind of on the fence there after after being involved in an injury riddled season in 2023 uh it it really makes me skeptical if he is going to be able to remain healthy here moving forward and uh if it was wise for the Pittsburgh Steelers to add that contract to their books to keep can cam Hayward as a on helmet guy um KY Ka and Pittsburgh Steelers uh analyst host um Bob pompan posted on Facebook that Cameron Hayward was a one hat Hall of Fame type guy now um what do you guys think does Cameron hayward's uh play and time with the Steelers werren a Hall of Fame nod I'm not saying that cam Hayward isn't hasn't been a phenomenal athlete hasn't been uh one of the ultimate Pros man he's he's been really really good for the Steelers he's done good things I think he's a slam dunk Hall of Honor type guy but I think we should wait until this guy's career concludes before we really put Hall of Fame tag on him uh I think in today's era of uh getting into the Hall of Fame there's a quota that they have to reach uh in terms of hey you know we have to have a guy from this era that era this many guys total you know I I think it's made the Hall of Fame a little bit watered down in terms of that sometimes to where um I just think it's a little bit easier and I think the the standard and how hard it should be to get in there uh that that should be upped a little bit and uh brought back to maybe not having a quota and hey if this this year you only have a guy or two make it then you only have a guy or two make it it is what it is um but I I think that the Hall of Fame has been watered down a little bit and I'm not saying cam Hayward hasn't uh deserved a nod I'm not saying that but you know I'm on the fence with that too uh in terms of Cam Hayward but we'll see hopefully he'll add a Lombardi trophy to to uh his resume um and have a big year here in 2024 to really start to finish his career on uh a real high note to um really bring a and shed a lot of light on this Steelers franchise in this defense in terms of TJ wat cam Hayward and uh really show on a national stage what this defense is all about and why I am one of the people that think that this defense is one of the top units in the entire NFL and uh again I'm on the fence with Cam I'm not sure how this season will go for him I think it's a real coin flip considering what happened last year so um we'll just continue to play it out and uh watch it all un unfold here in the next uh several weeks several months as the Steelers march on this journey uh to go chase the Lombardi trophy here and uh I think you never know uh I think they might make that playoff uh bit get that playoff bid and uh once you got a chip in a chair man inside of the playoffs anything can happen so uh all bets are off then so um I'm excited for the season I hope you are too uh as we rapidly approach guys Thursday Friday Saturday so basically basically if you count today 4 days until we
