more State football coach Jason Woodman after the team just came away with another Victory this time over KCU coach now start off 2 and0 at home you got a big win today um over KCU what were the kind of the keys tonight to pull out the victory uh we had to play you know four quarters of football I thought that KCU you got to give them credit they came out early and I thought D played us early on and our guys had to respond and kind of change some things and step up and make plays and I thought they did that and uh we were able to sustain kind of momentum for four quarters get some young guys in the game and get them some game experience and uh just finished the game strong which was what we had you know wanted to do all week long and we're proud about that second quarter is where you really turned the tie I think you had 19 unanswered points there anything schematically that you guys did differently in that quarter that gave you uh put you in front no they were doing some things differently that we weren't uh you know had in practice weren't ready for and we had to make some adjustments uh and we did it mostly in protection wise and then our guys were able to make plays you know we missed a couple plays early on that were open and I thought our defense stepped up again with you know the interceptions and the things they were doing controlling uh their offense keeping them off the field was giv us a lot of a lot of chances to make plays and I think that really was the key okay let's let's start on offense you kind of touched a little bit on that but anything particularly that was working well or something that you were seeing in their defense you guys were able to expose no not really I mean overall it was you know our basic game plan stuff it was things that we had practiced all week it wasn't uh you know we were trying to stay balanced we were trying to run the ball and throw the ball and I think uh we threw the ball a little bit more in the second quarter just felt like we had to kind of move the ball down the field a little bit get him you know out of the box and we did that but um you know overall we just kind of stuck to the game plan and and uh just try to stay balanced okay same question defensively I think you kept them off the board after they had that that early score what was working on that side I think everything was after the first half I mean great job by coach true love and the defense making an adjustment and the guys played man they they were just playing their butts off and uh they made plays whenever they were challenged they stepped up and were able to do some things to you know to again control the clock and control the ball and uh overall I thought they did a great job okay and then that leads us to the obvious next question special teams you had a punt return touchdown Schwarz had a couple field goals today uh after kind of a a little bit of a struggles last week so anything on in that aspect of the game that you liked no we were glad to see Nathan Garnett get a catch and or get a a return there and uh we we knew he had the ability to make big plays and he did it but again you got to give the whole unit uh you know credit they were blocking and giving him an opportunity to run down the field and they did we we pressured to punt uh really well throughout the day and um again that was you know something that we worked on all week and I think that set that that return up uh but you know you know I think the biggest thing that we really worked on was our kickoff coverage and for the most part you know when we kicked it in bounds uh we did a really good job running down the Fielding kind of containing it uh but those cover units are something that we have to continue to improve okay finally um with the margin of victory that you had you had a chance to get a lot of guys in the game that probably either are going to get limited minutes throughout the season so um anything that you were able to to do tonight with some of those extra guys that you give them some extra reps um maybe some things that you were able to practice that maybe you weren't necessarily planning on using today well you you never go into the game planning on being up big you know it's it's more of a respect and U you know you hope you get to that point but we didn't really plan on it we got some young guys in we stuck to some basic plays and uh some day one install stuff that you know we knew they could go in and operate and and run and uh they got a chance to go in David Parsons had a good chance to go in and throw the ball a little bit and hit his high school teammate Anthony ice there for a touch down which was always good to see and uh some of the guys you know I think they really made some plays uh for freshman that you wouldn't expect them to make but overall it was good to get those guys ripped well coach you came away with a win so uh we're two and0 congratulations on the start to
