DeAndre Swift uh it's the last guy I'm going to talk pretty in depth about with with the fit and just how much I don't like it I mentioned last year with DeAndre Swift first season he saw uh you know the kind of work he did he had 272 opportunities uh including 223 carries ended up being running back 23 on that his current ADP is right in line with that and I don't think things get better here for DeAndre Swift I mean he's on his third team I think there's a reason for that I think last year you look at you know Kenneth gainwell Boston Scott the group there it only got worse now with khil Herbert and Roshan Johnson and a you know insert a rookie quarterback who isn't a statue it's a tough situation for D Swift I think the Tal's always been there this is a guy who could end up uh you know having good games I just think over the course of the Season where you have to take this guy the early sixth round there's so many wide receivers that pick 65 that I think still have a lot a lot of value you're getting that you know T Hagen Z flowers M neighbors Amari Cooper I feel pretty good taking all those guys you know they can be good wide receiver 3es wide receiver two potential uh DeAndre Swift I think we can we can replace that type of production pretty darn late if you want that boring just that volume guys like Devin single you can get around 10 you know uh you can take your your stab on a couple other guys we've mentioned Jonathan Brooks my guy running back 31 off the board running back 34 off the board gavonte Williams I don't hate these bets similar to DeAndre Swift but you're getting it's four rounds later you know two two to four rounds later I I just I don't love it I re I really don't love it I I think he's a trap I think DeAndre s a name people know I think he's a talented player and then obviously we know what he's been in terms of health so yeah DeAndre Swift I find it really hard to get behind this one Jake I don't know if you want to give any comment I I know you're a Bears fan you're following this thing pretty closely um but for me it's it's tough to like it yeah as as both a Bears fan and and always a believer in DeAndre Swift he is probably the player that I have struggled with most in this offseason because watching him last year in Philly it was his best seasons as a runner very zon heavy scheme played to his skill sets really well but that Philly offense really hit a low where the offense just in the offensive identity entirely changed because their defense couldn't keep them in games so what started as a really good year for Swift we were like this is finally the year we're going to get it as their offense or as their defense got progressively worse throughout the season they started to have to throw the ball so much more um in situations where they previously would have run the usage was just all over the place they didn't really give him enough opportunities as a receiver in my opinion whereas I think him going to Chicago and and based off of what this offense projects to look like in my opinion I do think his receiving usage will be more than it was in Philly I don't think he'll run as much so I do still think he can be a high performing player it just boils down to what you said like his position ADP of running back 23 I think is too low but his overall ADP I feel is too high because there's other guys like you said there's other wide receivers in that range that I really want to hit click on there's running backs that are you know projected for more workload who I can get just a you know a round or two earlier and if I have a running back at that point I'm probably looking more wide receiver in these ranges anyway so it really is a struggle for me if he ever Falls past the six round completely I'm fully in I just can't convince myself to do it at current cost even as much as I do believe he will have his best season ever in Chicago I gotta jump in here I I as a since he's a rookie a DeAndre Swift fan he is one of my biggest avoids this year and I don't mean that in a way that I don't think he can't be good if he gets the workload but I can't going from a Philly offense that that based on like expected points added he should have been way better than he was and he's one of the reasons why that offense struggled because the defense didn't even react to the play action because they didn't believe that he was a threat out of the back field working with Caleb will probably be better for him because he should be better in the receiving game he should have better coverage against the defense especially if Caleb rolls out things like that and there's potentially better better Red Zone opportunities but we're we're anticipating a lot from a rookie QB that hasn't has hasn't played a game yet and like you said the 80P 64 is too high 23 overall might be okay but I feel like there's going to be a lot of weeks where he he's your your running back too you're just kind of worried you're just kind of what am i g to get this weekend am I gon to get nine or am I gon to get six or am I G to get 15 and I think that that's going to be really tough week to week over a full season to make that something you want to do consistently where you won't be searching for someone else to play over him so I I see the Avenue in which it could work but for me I'm just not drafting any Swift this year I just can't do it I will say I think the offensive struggles in Philly last year were much more that the offensive coordinator was bad than it was the players like Brian Johnson's play design was horrible he basically took the entire middle of the field usage uh from the receivers completely out of the game like there were so many things that were bad about that offense and teams just picked up on it really quickly if you look at the breakdown of how Swift's runs were last year they inexplicably saw him have his best games in very very Zone heavy play calls like his that first game he went off for 175 yards and a touchdown he had 27 Zone runs to one Gap run and then you look a little bit down later in the season and suddenly half the games are 5050 splits between Zone and GAP some games where they were more Gap heavy they were just trying to use him in ways that weren't productive and with Waldren you're getting a Zone heavy scheme so I think as a runner his efficiency can remain and I I truly just think the Philly offense was bad last year because of Brian Johnson I'm just at least two of these guys are going to disappoint pretty darn heavy in this off honestly I would bet that only one maybe two guys in this offense end up being worthwhile and for me it's gonna be DJ Moore and it's gonna be Caleb Williams and listen you could you could go any other way you could say it's gonna be Keen Allen and DeAndre Swift and I wouldn't blame you I think the Talon is there of course we've seen it from Keenan Allen especially historically but with the rookie quarterback I think it's tough to predict anyway at least with projections that they're all going to return on their ADP you're gonna have to play in a flag and for me especially with the contract he just got with DJ Moore what we saw what he did with Justin Fields he's in the prime spot of his career I think DJ Moore is the one at ADP I'm pretty cool with and I I hate it for Keenan Allen because I love the player and I still think he's got plenty of juice in the tank I think it's just gonna be a different version of him than we are used to and I I don't want to lean on DeAndre Swift it's the volume for me I think he goes right back to what we saw the first couple years where it's you know less than 200 opportunities altogether and you're not telling me that Cole Herbert's not going to have over a hundred carries again just enough to be annoying you Roshan Johnson at 80 as a rookie I think that probably sits he was very good on third Downs he came in as a known blocker that could still stay as you mentioned DeAndre Swift struggled against certain schemes I I think they're going to rotate this group to a point where it's just annoying enough where even if he were to slide past the sixth round around seven8 I still don't love it like it'd have to be around N9 stab for me to be like sure absolutely because that's where I'm taking guys like Jonathan Brooks Javonte Williams or even later and I I I have him in the same bucket I don't think it's a worse bet I mean actually I think it is a worse bet than Jonathan Brooks I don't think it's a worse bet than javante Williams for different reasons completely different players you don't have to make that decision there right I I don't see any situation I end up with swift this year personally yeah this this Bears offense is going to be hard to like you said you're gonna have to plan a flag on one guy the only way you can get away with some of the guys besides DJ Moore in my opinion are because their ADP is both so low or if you're playing in a baseball format where I don't have to pick which game is going to be the one that Keenan Allen has his 10 receptions and 120 yards or where Rome has three catches for 162 and two touchdowns like it's you're it's GNA be so hard to predict consistent usage out of anybody that isn't named TJ Moore one benefit though to this offense is the defense they could be winning really really nicely in the field position game so they could have short fields for touchdowns that is something that could be a saveing Grace
