FIRST ALERT: Hurricane Francine strengthens into a Category 2 storm ahead of landfall

the brand new projections for Francine yeah just released at 5:00 it has the intensified hours before making landfall not what you want to see as a hurricane is approaching Francine now a category 2 hurricane with 100 m hour winds just hours from approaching Coastal Louisiana just west of New Orleans they will see hurricane force winds with gusts up to 100 Mil an hour also storm surg a big concern of course severe weather and very heavy rainfall we are going to stay well east of Francine but we are going to feel some impacts from those outermost bands and we are going to see periods of heavy rainfall and even some Gusty winds up to 35 miles an hour hurricane Francine is expected to weaken very quickly once it moves Inland so by the overnight hours it will weaken to 65 mph winds and then it continues to dissipate as it moves over land it will stay well west of our area but those impacts will be felt tomorrow is a First Alert weather day we will see rain with wind gusts up to 35 miles an hour isolated severe storms including an isolated tornado in Far West Georgia will be possible more heavy rain and storms Friday which is our second First Alert weather day and even on Saturday now a third First Alert weather day for more heavy rain in the forecast so again biggest impacts to our West but we will feel some effects of Francine here locally we'll talk much more about the timing of the rain and how much we're expecting where you live with Team weather coverage live at 5
