yeah what do you think have you been watching much coverage Austin uh so far A little bit here and there um fortunately for the most part I think pretty much everything I've heard has been mostly favorable um seems like everything's kind of you know working its way through and the guys that we kind of know are the guys are showing out you know you know the running backs and the guys that are maybe missing a little bit of time or getting healthier obviously we know Drew Shelton is is cleared full he can participate in all activities and all that kind of thing which he was uh a little bit limited uh through through spring like we talked about yeah but uh yeah everything everything going mostly well um obviously wide receiver is probably the most scrutinized position for obvious reasons uh but I've heard some good things there too again a lot of guys making some splashes and the the key like we talked about uh several times before is you got to stay healthy it doesn't matter how consistent you can be if you're unable to get on the field because you're hurt um the answer is you can't be consistent at all because you're not available so yep guys got to stay healthy guys got to show out but I'm pretty confident with uh with this receiving core with what I think they can do this season um in a different system I think they're going to just be put in generally on average better situations than they were really the last couple of years um so I I think that will help them a bunch but I do think Fleming's do for a big year I think Trey's D for a big year um Omari Evans is a guy that I talked about a bunch because he's he's got legit 43 speed he's just a burner um you have to be able to harness and unleash that level of athleticism because speed always strikes fear Into the Heart of defenses it always does it's just another another element when the fastest guy on the on the field is not you and you got to go against that um it's very challenging uh particularly stretching the field down the field so overall uh I think things are in a a pretty good spot we'll keep an eye on the linebacker situation just because of the depth going on there um and you know kind of what some of these young guys are doing because they're they're GNA have to FasTrack and again we have the we have the teachers on staff to be able to to facilitate that with Tom Allen Dan Connor Etc um I think they'll be okay but just from a depth perspective going to have to keep an eye on linebacker um everywhere else I think they'll be be pretty okay but uh interested to see that also interested to see uh you know what what a guy like Ethan gruny can do um with uh with smik still out missing time with injury um he's going to be getting some more reps here in Camp and uh again super high upside very athletic big arm looks really good um so just kind of see what what uh what progress he's making as well well that'll be interesting for uh a future outlook of the quarterback position mhm absolutely yeah we pretty much got our guys already uh we got Bo we got grunk Meer grunk Meer could easily be a very very good quarterback for us a lot of ability a lot of Mobility uh so you know couple things uh lost some guys in the draft uh but this is one of the few seasons where I think I could say like man the guys that we didn't lose in the draft or couldn't lose in the draft is unbelievable I mean we got Abdul Carter coming back we got Deni coming back cam Miller this 22 class really needs to set their their Mark um that's one of probably one of the most talented recruiting classes we've ever had um if not the best ever in terms of just possibilities and star status uh so top 10 recruiting class in the nation so uh we got and then you know we've got guys like Mitchell Tinsley come in which worked out uh then we got guys like Dante cus Malik mlan last year that did not work out we got a guy in jolian Fleming coming in from Ohio State legendary program uh played with multiple NFL receivers one of the I think he's the number one receiver in his class from Pennsylvania comes to Penn State I I mean I think this guy is going to potentially be better than Mitchell Tinsley uh he's going to be better than any transfer we've had at receiver so that's definitely a GU to watch but obviously few question marks here uh we got two new coordinators so we'll start with that now we got Drew Aller what's he gonna do how's he going to play Under the new coordinator I think he's going to do fantastic I think he's going to be more comfortable uh because what they're going to do is they could play from the ball out so they're going to start with the running backs going to start with the running game and we have a phenomenal running game um single 10 cam Wallace we got uh KRON um and we got our newest recruit at running back too who can kind of play all over the place probably see him play somewhere um and then uh the line is really really good um we have a ton of talent there and then key guys that returned on the defensive line like Devon Ellis we got Hakeem Bean coming back you know Ellis could have left uh and he came back uh and then linebacking core you got Kobe King you got Abdul technically defensive line but uh then you got Tony Roos another freak and then you got several guys in the secondary including Elliot Washington AJ Harris both transfers uh and I believe Elliot Washington is a five-star guy um but AJ Harris was was a four-star guy transferred here from Georgia uh my my biggest you know hit to the gut in terms of who we lost was King Mack going to Alabama um I was really really excited about him and he transferred out um which sucks because I I I was really happy when we got him I was really excited for him um and then he transferred out so I I really really am disappointed by that but um you know we're working with what we can work with and we're working with what we got and what we got is pretty darn good so uh yeah overall pretty excited man um when was the official start of training camp was it uh August one start of the month yeah okay so pretty much we're you know a weekend um so again I haven't been watching much coverage of it but uh there's nothing really like outstanding to report no one's been hurt thankfully uh but again like Austin said health is the most important thing can we stay healthy uh even if we can stay healthy and perform with these two new coordinators the question is offense not defense I think defense will be just fine especially with a literally a proven head coach coming in um to be our defensive coordinator and then cotal neki I think he's just a phenomenal fit um and I think all's just got to fit more with him he's G to gel more with him and I truly think that if what we think will happen happens we're gonna we're going to be watching a very very exciting football team and we think we're going to see it against West Virginia in week one so yeah overall just I'm I'm really excited and there's a lot to look forward to there's a lot to be thankful for as a fan and uh you know we'll see how James Franklin performs with this talent because this is the peak and definition of a James Franklin recruited football team and uh we'll see what what he can do with it um you know if if it if this if we don't win with this team if we don't win this team or the next year or the year after that then I don't know if it's ever going to happen uh so but I do think it will happen I I mean there's just so much talent it's unbelievable how much talent we got and we got Max Granville reclassifying so just yeah really excited man um I just wanted to get here you know I just want to get to week one and uh see what we can do so yeah no I mean I agree I mean I I think you look at the team you look at the talent you look at kind of the way the schedule lines up you look at the coordinators and and all that kind of stuff the potential on offense if if that potential we live up to that potential uh undoubtedly should be able to you know uh skip our way into into a playoff spot for sure um and then kind of you know try our hand against the other members of the top 12 in that situation um if if you miss the playoff that that's uh by definition very very underwhelming season and not not really acceptable um you know so they they have to continue to at bare minimum uh repeat what they've been doing which has been pretty consistently 10 and two um if you repeat that you're pretty much guaranteed in um as a as a you know an upper level program like Penn State is uh but again looking for improvement everywhere if they get the Improvement that we're that we're talking about and speculating about you know the receivers put it together Aller really plays uh you know loose fast and effective uh you know really the sky is the limit as far as that goes because there is a lot of talent these guys are talented players so if the O goes Penn State will go um it it's that simple so we're gonna have a great Li limus test with West Virginia I'm exced excited that we're that we're on to Camp uh keep an eye on that uh you know fingers crossed that that we kind of avoid the injury bug as as much as humanly possible uh so all of our best players can can be at their best in week one and Beyond um that would be really the only reason as to why things could go sideways is if you just get a bunch of injuries and a bunch of guys are missing and you know you're not really even playing with with you know your your expected starters ET ET kind of like you know in the in the peach bow uh I mean we were playing without a lot of guys like just is what it is um so can't really have that um on on the flip side obviously you know the backups need to be ready to go and all that kind of stuff and the roster is deep so we should have good players there um to pull from should somebody go down but you know you're only at your best when your starters are in and they're at their best so keep an eye on that but uh yeah overall excited
