Should you choose OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY (ODU) for the 4 next years? (COLLEGE)

should you choose ODU for the next four years my name is Allan I'm a current sophomore student at ODU and I'm here to give you a honest opinion on if you should come to ODU or [Music] not first I would like to say that if you're not from the area of norol Virginia I believe coming to ODU is a really good thing because of the network opportunity and you get to see an environment that you're not used to and that goes for all colleges too I think you should choose a school that's not close to your hometown with that being said guys I wanted to break this video into two parts first the pros and the second is the cons all right and for the first pro it's going to be miror scholarships if you had decent grades or a really good GPA in high school then ODU offers a great mirror scholarship for you and it's for every single year it's based on your uh GPA performance and the credit hours you're required to take next is going to be the uh campus and the people themselves so the campus is always getting remodel always construction going on and there's always people going around everywhere so there's a great diversification of people you can meet with that being said the large diversification of people there's always a lot of networking opportunity with so much people around and you never know who you can meet who can push you forward to the next step in addition to that ODU has a really nice gym too and it has basketball courts it also has a pool as well which I've never been in but it's a really nice gym and students also get free tickets to the uh any athlete events like such as football games basketball games volleyball games tennis and also to like concerts and stuff like that that we have here we get do the discounts for those tickets also there's a lot of resources that ODU provides that comes with your tuition such as uh writing help tuition support uh Technology support advising and U mental health support there's a lot of different things that are available on ODU campus the next thing I wanted to talk about was the list of dorm choices you have there's loads of dorms on campus with so much peoples there's a lot of housy spaces as well so there's a lot of dorm choices you can choose from on ODU campus with that being said with ODU being such a big school with so much people in it there's such a large variety of majors and minors you can choose from and also a great diversification of classes you can choose from so there's always something new or something you want to learn is here all right guys with that being said those are most of the pros that I had on my list and I want to get into the cons of everything now the first con personally to me is going to be the food choices and the food quality here so the first thing is the Broger gy Hall I feel like it's really old quick and it's not that good and also with the web Center that's here it's like Chick-fil-A pan Express Steak and Shake uh kudoba and Subway as well but it's a lot of food choices here that we get with the m plan but it seems to get old too it's decently good but the D all that we have it isn't really good I barely go there next there's not a lot of apartment choices that we have for the dorm choices so there's a lot of dorms but there's not a lot of apartments that the college offers so we only have palan and we only have the university village and the University Village is really expensive ptin is relatively cheap but the building overall is really old so the condition of the building isn't really well adding on to that the condition of some buildings here too I think there's a uh old science lab building and it's pretty old some of the stuff is run down but some other days are new there's construction going on too but with the good of having remodeled and nice buildings there's always construction going on so there's detours stuff like that and always construction signs going on ODU campus with ODU having such a high acceptance rate I think it's like 90 to 95% there's some people here that aren't motivated so some of the appear they're just going to college to see what college is so they might not be the most motivated and they might not be the best people you want to be around in addition to that we have a lot of people that likes to party all day drink all day smoke all day and not really do their classwork and it's a loud campus Because of so much people there's a lot of activities always going on so at night you might hear people time of time around party and stuff like that but sometimes it's really quiet too give or take it depends what time of the year it is and it could be like that most colleges too the next thing I want to mention is the Freshman meal plan that they have it's not really a negative but they force the Freshman to have the most expensive meal plan which can be a problem for some people but it gives the Freshman idea of how much food I'm be eating every single day every single week and it just makes sure the Freshman are eating everything that they need to eat to survive all right and the last con I'm talk about is going to be about flooding and the weather B basically so so if you're from Virginia then you know how Virginia weather is it's always crazy it's always changing it can be hot today cold tomorrow hot one week cold next week and with northug being so close to uh the ocean whenever it rains it tends to flood really really high here so that's something to be really careful about all in all guys my personal experience at OD has been pretty well I like everything that's been going on here I'm really happy that I chose the school overall so my general rating for the school is going to be a 7.5 out of 10 there's some problems that can be better here but there's a lot of positives that weigh the negatives so all in all I believe that OD is a great school to choose all right thank you guys for watching my video today I really hope you guys learn something new
