[Music] hello and welcome back to the morning after from Engadget I'm Matt Smith and I'll be taking you through the biggest most interesting text stories of the last 6 to seven days let's get started with Google's big pixel event so no fewer than four new pixel phones but no Android 15 yes Google has redesigned all of its pixel phones no more cyclops camera band now it's an Among Us camera oval yes there are new flattened sides and softer Corners across all of the devices making these phones look and feel more like iPhones than ever before let's kick things off with the base model the pixel 9 which has a 6.3 in screen and a substantial camera bump featuring a new 48 megapixel Ultra wide sensor new AI powered photo editing tricks might be the main draw like add me and reimagine these are joining features that I use daily on my pixel 8 including magic editor and night side and those features might be more important than mere spec sheet numbers then there's the same sized pixel 9 Pro and the 6.8 in pixel 9 Pro XL technically it's the pixel 9 Pro that's the new proposition the best pixel camera in a more I'll say it normal size besides screen and battery sizes specs are the same across both Pro Models alongside that 50 and 48 megapixel camera Duo there's a third 4 8 megap cam with a five times telephoto Zoom that my friends is the Pro Part stylistically the Basse pixel 9 has a matte satin finish while the pro devices have a shiny polished treatment personally I wish it was the other way around now there's also a new pixel fible 2 boasting the biggest phone screen yet 8 in across now as I teed up at the start one surprise from this pixel event was that Google's brand new $1,000 pixel9 phones won't launch with Android 15 now this is probably because we're seeing these new pixels out earlier than normal Android 14 arrived in October last year so I expect to hear more about Android 15 in the fall so Apple's rumored take on an echo show or Nest Hub style touchscreen smart home device might still happen and it might have a convenient robotic arm according to Bloomberg it could debut as soon as 2026 with a thin robotic arm that moves around a large display pretty much like every mid naughties sci-fi movie it might be able to tilt the screen up and down itself using actuators and rotate 360° this means it could tap into Apple's dock kit software to track users as they move around their home for video calls and more hundreds of Apple employees are apparently already said to be working on this tabletop system and it's apparently strongly linked to Apple intelligence and Siri however there are some understandable concerns about whether anyone wants it in the first place hackers may have leaked pretty much every American's social security number much of the information being sold by a hacking group months ago has leaked online and it includes 2.7 billion records of people in the US including names Social Security numbers potential aliases and all physical addresses they are known to have lived at it's all delightfully unencrypted two crammed into two text files that amount to a total of 2 77 GB now according to reports it's not all entirely accurate but it's a good time as ever to shore up your passwords and stay extra vigilant about any attempts at identity theft valves next game which doesn't officially exist yet had over 23,000 concurrent players this week we know it's called deadlock and that valve has been working on it since 2018 we also know it's a competitive MOBA shooter build as the next DOTA but but the big question is where's my invite to play anyone no Borderlands the movie features Kate Blanchett Jack Black Kate Blanchett Jam Lee Curtis Kevin Hart and Kate Blan and it pulls off the incredible feat of reminding us that game adaptations can still miss the mark and be bad check out Avenger's full review over at engadget.com for all of the many reasons why oh Kate and that was the morning after thanks once again for watching we'll be taking a cheeky summer vacation next week but we'll be back after that with all the biggest Tech news and stories make sure to like And subscribe and if anyone has any of those spare deadlock beta invites you know where to find me
