how's it going everybody welcome back to the morning huddle here on the Tyler iag college football network I hope you guys are having a fantastic Thursday morning I know people on the west coast are because the Pack 12 is not dead yes the Pack 12 has added four new teams we'll talk about that I also got my picks for every top 25 game this weekend and of course the preview for South Carolina LSU uh the host of college game day this weekend super excited to talk about all that hopefully you guys are too and you know I'm not even going to waste any time we're we're going to get right into this the Pack 12 has made the announcement this morning I had a video recorded already not knowing this news was going to drop the Pack 12 is adding Boise State Colorado State Fresno State and San Diego State to the conference that makes it six now they need two more by 2026 in order for them to stay an FBS conference or an FBS recognized conference I think they're going to get there this is the momentum they needed they needed they needed few schools to break away break the mold and come over now the question is who do they add on top of this right because they obviously they're not stopping there but but who are they going to add Stanford and cal probably not I don't think Stanford and Cal are coming back one might like to see that happen um but the the the ability it's going to take for them to break out of ACC unless something crazier happens with the ACC it it's pretty unlikely I don't I think that's going to happen so now you got to dig deep and find schools who will come over and and make an immediate impact I think you stay in the Mountain West here I think you do I think you go grab unov who's on the rise Barry odm's doing good they got a lot of money they play at a really nice Stadium hell the stadium that your conference hosts a conference Championship at uh for the last how many years um I think you go grab unov uh you could also go and try to grab I hear UTSA a lot UTSA would be interesting I mean that's a team that's that's looking like they're on the Rise um or has been on the rise I mean they've been in the conversation for years now you go grab UTSA a school from Texas try to get somebody you know some some interest in the power five now I don't know that that's going to make the Pack 12 a power four conference but I do think it makes the Pack 12 more intriguing and more interesting when we go down the line I don't know who they're going to grab the the bottom line is how does the Mountain West answer you have a lot of schools around you if you're the Mountain West that are in the FCS that could jump up and make an immediate impact minus the uh the the weight out period for a blll game you go get Idaho who has heavily improved since they dropped down you go get Montana Montana State North Dakota State North Dakota like you go grab any of those groups of schools and be in a really good position but it's a matter of do those schools want to come up too there's a lot of question marks to be had about what's going to happen here and and I think we need to really just kind of take our time and wait to determine what that's going to look like going forward but it's it's a huge news it's huge for the Pack 12 and and and the fans of it it's huge for the Mountain West and the fans of it because of what it takes away but it's also huge for college football because that means we keep the Pack 12 and means Pack 12 after dark is Not Dead by any means so super excited I I can't wait to see what what comes of this really great news this morning coming out of the West Coast all right let's move on and go ahead and talk about the top 25 games this week now we only have like 16 15 games I mean really not many at all and we got two ranked matchups though which I'm really excited to talk about one of them is tomorrow night so let's go ahead and get into these we got Georgia going on the road against Kentucky I'm taking Georgia to win that game I'm taking Georgia even to cover that game I think the Georgia's defense is going to be smothering to this Kentucky offense that really struggled last week with South Carolina the the defenses match up the secondaries match up like that this is almost a spitting image last week for Kentucky um except well you can say that the Georgia is much better and that's totally fine I think Georgia wins it wins really big Texas plays UTSA I think they're going to win I don't really need to question it Alabama goes on the road to take on Wisconsin that's big noon kickoff this weekend I'm not previewing the game because I have no no belief that Wisconsin is going to win this game I think that Wisconsin's offense has looked pedestrian at best uh their defense has been okay but they played Western Michigan and uh South Dakota so like I I'm not buying anything I think that that Alabama's going to win and walk away with it in Camp Randle Old Miss goes on the road to take on Wake Forest on Saturday night I'm excited for this game um I was more excited because I thought I might have gone to this game if I wasn't going down to Columbia Old Miss going to come in they're going to win big they they've allowed only three points while scoring 128 this season I think either 128 or 125 I think it's 125 the point being they've only allowed three points in their first two games against Ferman and middle of Tennessee state that doesn't really mean much I think W force is going to be able to score in this game but Old Miss going to score a lot more I'm like 5224 old Miss big win for them uh Bost of college of Missouri I'm not picking this game today because I'm previewing it tomorrow so tune in tomorrow if you want to see that game Kent State Tennessee that's obvious Tennessee uh Oregon on the road against Oregon State I almost pulled the upset here but I think Oregon's going to be able to win now I believe the spread's like 15 16 I'm taking Oregon State to cover uh at home in Coral there's a lot of riding in this game a lot of emotion riding in this game I think organ State's going to want to prove something Paul State and Miami uh Miami big Utah and Utah State I'm taking Utah I think they're going to win comfortably Utah state had having not a rough start to the year I mean they got shut out last week I think they're probably going to struggle again this week but uh give me give me the Utes Oklahoma State going on the road to face Tulsa now it's not really a huge road trip but it is a road trip nonetheless I think they're going to win win comfortably bounce back after a close win last week is Arkansas Arizona goes on the road to face Kansas state if you watched my preview earlier this week you know I'm taking Kansas State close game really fun matchup non-conference matchup even though they're both big 12 teams it's a non-conference game I'm excited for that tomorrow night we get tane on the road against Oklahoma and and this is my upset for the week I'm taking tane to beat Oklahoma in Norman I think that this tane team is really good they played really good brand of football last week against Kansas State John sumer's got this team looking really good really early this this win if they get it can boost them into that playoff conversation as a group of five representative LSU on the road to face South Carolina I'm previewing that game today so stick around Arkansas State Michigan I'm taking Michigan to win I'm taking Michigan to cover I think their defense is going to be enough to slow down Arkansas State the Arkansas state defense has been pretty bad this year they almost have they've been really close to losing two weeks in a row they've been very sluggish earlier this year Jaylen rer is the the Difference Maker in this game for Arkansas state if he has an alltime game for this team Arkansas State hangs around and makes us really uncomfortable for Michigan however I'm taking Michigan to win I'm taking Michigan I don't know if I'm taking them to cover I got Arkansas State I think covering but it's it it's going to be close on the borderline of that one Notre Dame on the road to face Purdue I think Purdue covers but Notre Dame is going to win I think they're going to bounce back after what was Anar eming loss for them last week not so much for Northern Illinois but for them it's an embarrassing loss um so we'll see what Notre Dame can do this week against the boiler makers again in West Lafayette spoiler makers maybe we'll see Northern Iowa on the road to face Nebraska uh number 23 Nebraska I think Nebraska's going to win they they were dominant last week against Colorado they they dominated the first half walked out in the second half and just kind of took it to the end I think they're going to come out be very very sound very solid not really an emotional win for them you could tell you know there's some vide that surface of Shiloh Sanders talking about they were going to roll their ass or something like that the Colorado was going to roll Nebraska well did you you didn't so Nebraska uh winning big over Northern Iowa I'm not too worried about that game so those are my top 25 picks so far this season in top 25 games I'm 36 and 10 it's not been great I I missed a lot of especially like week one I missed a lot of the games that were there were coin flips Andor just kind of like bold upset picks like West Virginia um I picked Florida state with Boston College to cover so I'm I'm whatever about that um LSU lost late to USC Florida didn't do anything that we expected so and Texas A&M lost so week two I got bit by Notre Dame uh Kansas Iowa losing and George attack so this week we're hoping to hoping to maybe go undefeated here but it's going to be tough I mean college football is so unpredictable I I don't think I'll ever go undefeated on these picks but I'm I'm hoping to be above 75% on these so far we're above 75% so that's good news so with that said let's go ahead and get into the preview for LSU at South Carolina I mentioned it already college game day is going to be there I'm going to be there uh in attendance for this game for college game day I'm I'm excited this is the second year in a row that I'll be at a game day for South Carolina I was at the season opener last year against North Carolina remember I I said that they lost last year and they did lose any any record book will show that but this South Carolina team feels a lot different from last year and there's multiple reasons to that I feel like one there's a confidence there's this new confidence around this team that wasn't there last year the the offensive line is not better I don't want to say uh but they're they're no let me correct myself they are better they're they're blocking that the Run game is getting you know is impressive improved for sure the passing game and they just haven't been willing to open it up I mean you know I want to go take a look at some stats from from the last two weeks specifically for the South Carolina team because there's a there was a marked difference between week one and week two and I think that was just kind of a hey you know what we need to stop being so conservative so you look at this game against oldum taking a look at the box score this team ran for 174 yards while throwing for 114 lar only threw 23 times he was 10 of 23 for 114 no touchdowns but he didn't throw a pick either but then we had Raheem Sanders and noris sers both running for over 140 yards combined actually over 150 combined in this game both averaging 3.7 to 3.1 yards per carry this team averaged 3.1 per carry 56 rushes to 23 runs I mean it was obvious what South Carolina was trying to do we know that uh there were two guys uh vendus Jacobs has been really solid maio Bennett was was much better last week even than this week so let's go take a look at that Kentucky game slow start really heavy on the Run game didn't want to get um Leno sers 2 into this so you look at last week it was a much more balanced attack as a matter of fact it was much more towards the the passing game where Lenor sers 10 of 14 for 166 yards two touchdowns and a pick and the one pick was an overthrow so the past game didn't improve too much I mean the same amount of completions from Leno sers but much more yardage much more downfield opportunities there were more open receivers uh in this in the concepts you had Raheem Sanders averaging 4.2 carry 13 carries for 54 yards um Robbie Ashford six carries for 26 yards 4.3 per carry what took them down was one Oscar outway one carry for a loss of a yard Lenor sers eight carries for a loss of 11 a handful of those were on sacks and remember he was also injured at one point in this game had a little bit of a hip issue he didn't really run much after that that happened so 35 carries for 79 yards 2.3 yards per carry you know if you take a away that and look at the guys that actually were utilized to run and take away those sack numbers this team ended up running for for 90 yards as a matter of fact actually uh so you take away all the Lost yardage well now I'm not going to take away the Lost yardage I'm just going to take away the Lor Stack yard so they ran for 90 yards on 27 carries so 90 yards on 27 carries let me let me do I'm doing a little bit of a look here because I'm curious myself um so 27 no hang on wrong way wrong way 90 divided by 27 3.3 yards per carry which is a whole yard extra now that's not great I now that that does barely that's a that's a that's an inch shy of a first down on three carries however there's more work to be done there needs to be a lot more consistency with this run game now kuy's defensive line is a little bit better I think than LSU's defensive line and we're going to see that this weekend but it this is going to be a defensive battle this isn't going to be your 3128 type of game and if it is LSU is probably winning but if this turns into a knockdown drag out fight there's a defense I trust more here and it's South Carol this South Carolina def def so far this season I mean you see it they've allowed 244 yards per game 120 through the air 123 on the ground the 123 on the ground you know so be it I guess but they they're only allowing three yards per carry last last week three yards per carry against this Kentucky offense who really isn't that bad and and and Sumo caring Bay got the majority of the carries 4.1 yards per carry Jason Patterson uh 45 now Brock Vandergriff got sacked a lot that takes that number down so they they were a little more success successful than that the difference being between Kentucky and and LSU is LSU doesn't run the ball like that they they're averaging 90.5 yards per game and I think that number is not going to be too much more over a 100 they may get to 110 they might get to 110 LSU is going to be able to throw the ball a little bit I think but again you look at the secondary that we we witnessed from from South Carolina with guys like Nick aan wary um the that wasn't it uh sorry I'm trying to find who I'm looking for here um DQ Smith sorry that was the other one I was looking for but like you look at those guys you look at the guys who make plays Jaylen Kilgore was was able to make a big interception last week like you look at those guys on top of this Dylan Stewart has been a game wrecker Tonka Hemingway has made some impacts in this game in so far this season you look at all those things that the South Carolina team's done and you believe that there is an opportunity for them to stick around in this game and make it uncomfortable they can make they can seriously have an impact on Garrett nesm on this LSU offensive line and on the offense period because I think anybody in the secondary can hang with any of the LSU wide receivers now what's going to matter the most in this game to me I don't care what they did against Nicholls they didn't look good last week that honestly they did not look good last week uh game that they won 44 to 21 and it wasn't like they just kept nichel out of the game it it was 23 to 14 at halftime I Nicholls was in the game it took the second half and and kind of kind of running it up uh as you went down down the course of that third quarter that they finally pulled away a little bit and that was just the the talent that they have but they gave up multiple long plays I think that this is a team that you're going to have to I think there's a reason to be a little bit concerned with to be completely honest if you're an LSU fan especially going on the road this is going to be hostile this is going to be the most hostile environment you've played in I know Vegas wasn't necessarily a home field advantage or or even a a neutral site because I know there was a lot of USC fans there last week you played against an FCS opponent this is your hostile environment this is your first true test and and you've got a team that loves to get after the quarterback loves to make things difficult I I just don't see a way I don't see a way that LSU just runs away with this game I think this is going to be close from start to finish it may be a last second field goal I don't know I'm taking LSU to win I I all that to say I am taking LSU to win but I think South Carolina's going to make this extremely close this game is 100% on upset warning as a matter of fact I won't call it an emergency yet you know to continue the storm system my buddy Daniel actually told me told me I should probably probably make that switch call it call it upset watch warning emergency rather than watch warning alert so thank you for that we are going to put this game on upset warning for certain I think this is a big time upset opportunity this is a big time win opportunity for South Carolina to put themselves in a serious conversation as how good truly are they the difference being I think they're just I think this defense keeps them in so many games this season and you know that's not something they were able to say last year a lot of inexperience a lot of things they didn't have specifically a really game-changing pass rusher like Dylan Stewart they have it this year and I think that that's going to be a big difference so LSU wins it's close I'm taking South Carolina to cover that seven and I'm going to take on the over under I'm going to take the under I think this is like a 24 to 21 type of game this is going to be really tough really well battled uh football game from South Carolina and LSU so I'm excited I'm excited to be there I'm getting on the road at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday morning uh to get down there so super excited to be be down there and super excited for this weekend of college football that's coming up it's not the heaviest slate but that's why I made it an executive decision to get on the road and and catch a game so hopefully you guys enjoy it
