Road pH you know he's he's certainly got ability but he hasn't really delivered in terms of goal which is what you're all about as a center forward you know 28 years old now um 35 in 129 for QPR you know what's I think he's averaged over the last two years eight goals a season not enough so yeah it's not enough F you know I think if you're looking at at a championship team which which qbr are at the moment trying to at least get into the playoffs you need somebody who's going to be getting you like certainly upwards of 18 goals the season as you Center forward your main Striker and that's where he's falling short yeah certainly into double figures at least you would think um sat looks decent though left Winger from from Japan and then they've also got uh a debut for Danish midfielder Nicholas Madson he only signed yesterday I wasn't sure whether they'd be able to register in him in time for today but they have done what do we know about him well he's he's tall and rangy um he's he's certainly somebody that I think has got a different variety to his game f you know he's not just somebody who can play as a holding midfielder he can play as a number 10 he's he scored a fair few goals as well J his career and he and he's upfront about it he's willing to play wherever he needs to and that that's that's Heaven Sent really for for a manager because you know that you know if you have got a um goal scoring problem you can push him further forward so i' be interested to see how quickly he fits into the manager thinking here yeah Championship you don't get much time to to to build yourself into it do you get thrown in right at the deep end Michael Ali obviously knows the championship very well in on low for Plymouth from Burnley is that a Savvy signing for Wayne Rooney yeah look I I think there's a there's there's there's an element of risk in in everything that that that Plymouth are doing I think even the even the appointments I know a lot of people have got a lot of uh admiration for for Rooney as a manager never mind as a players it goes without saying as a player but there's also F I think when when you see an appointment of Wayne Rooney to somewhere like Plymouth I immediately think is it is it is it a club that are searching for some attention you know and and look you do get that with Wayne Murray because of his profile I think what Wayne's got to do he's got to prove that that's not what it's all about with him now he's a manager in his own right and his profile as a player is in the past and it's so easy you know after 105 games if it hasn't gone well and if you know he was the worst case scenario he was to get the sack here where where would he go from here you know so it's a massive decision for Wayne Rooney obviously a big one for the club but I'd like to think that Plymouth have have appointed him as a manager not as a as a celebrity I hope so because the narrative that follows him everywhere is can he do it in in in The Dugout and it's really vital I think you know it's interesting that that he's gone to Plymouth to to try and prove that he can do it Birmingham was a difficult club for him to to go to I would say but it just didn't work out for him so he's got a lot of lot of points to prove perhaps to the outside if not to himself um let's focus on on QPR though shall we because it feels as if their manager Marty sentes has completely transformed their Fortune since since he came in I've been really impressed with him absolutely you know 36 games in charge and you know you take over a team sometimes F that is struggled and and there's no doubt about it they had struggled they'd won two in 13 when he arrived so confidence was was on the floor and you've got to you've got to bring obviously a a freshness and and not just that it's not about just like you know beating the drum when you come in you've got to put things right that were obviously wrong and he certainly did that didn't he you know they they I think in 22 of his 36 g games he was on beaten so that shows you that there's a real consistency um to to to their performances look he came in he was a breath refresh here the crowd loved him for obvious reasons because they got an up in form that the the this season is completely different F he takes over a team that maybe there's more expectation on um and and now people will respect Q off the way he actually them around last year so more expected and we all know when More's expected f it gets more difficult yeah it certainly does let's hear from the head coach now shall we Marty cenz is hoping that his team have learned some lessons after their late draw with Sheffield United last weekend we have a a good challenge in front of us uh with play enough at home a game that that we know that we can build on from what we achieve in the second half against Sheffield but that we need to learn as well at the same time from from what happened especially I would say in the first first 13 14 minutes we start the game well despite we predicted and we we agreed that that that could be the kind of start that Sheffield will try to put in first game at home of a team that probably club that has big expectations for this season in Championship so it's definitely something that we need to learn from and instead the second half it was encouraging because I think we play at different level at different pace with much better ball Tempo the way we we build our attacks the the way we defend much high on the pitch and not only that but scoring when we still yeah we got this red car then still had the courage to to to chase the draw I think it was a a pretty good performance in the second half that we need to to keep on for the game against playo yeah certainly something that they can build on and a huge confidence boost coming from 2-n down to uh to draw to all against a side like Sheffield United relegated from the Premier League last season and expected to do good things uh this season that's exactly the kind of spirit they're going to need to show isn't it Alvin yeah definitely well it this this I think this division all divisions all football all over the world is about is about that it's about you know togetherness about you the effort you put in how hard you trained you know Implement implementation of tactics all of them things but look you know I'm looking at QPR this year I think what they have got is a really good coach EFA um it was a really disappointing game the first opening game they went to goal up against West Brom and lost the game um now he came out straight away afterwards and said he was really disappointed with the performance in in in one way and I think this is something about that tells you a little bit about him once they go a goal up some managers go right don't take chances your goal up stay steady stay safe he's not that sort he thinks if you go goal up and you've been playing well look for a second look for the third look at really nailing the opposition so he's a very adventurous coach Spanish Alvin yeah I love it I love that sort of football I love to think yeah cuz what you do see you might concede by take continuing take chances but what you what you do you kill a lot more games off and I think these players will have got that message and it's something if you don't do that in this Division I think you know it's so close in terms of the quality of all the teams F you have to strike while IR H if you having a good spell in the game if you're on top make sure you put that team to the sword yeah and it's vital as well when they've got new players not used to uh the speed of the championship and the Brut brutality of the championship at times in terms of the number of fixed there are and you know it it can be a punishing schedule as well as when they're on the pitch additionally it's really vital to have those kind of key experienced players in the likes of Steve Cook Jack kach for example Lynden Dykes if he St stays because they they have to have those people that have been there and done it when he's building a successful unit as he hopes them to be absolutely absolutely and I think what he's done he's balanced it fa this summer I think you know he's brought in there' been nine people in total brought in five of them have been young players you know 21 22 year olds uh because I think he does class himself as a as a manager that can get him on a train pitch and he can coach him he can improve them players but you're right to say that it's no good having you know a lot of youngers on there without that one or two or three experienced players that calm calm players down around them you know if if things don't go according to to plan in a game I think that's when experience comes into it because young players if they go a goal down they immediate reaction is to get after them get a goal back and they end up losing another goal and then the game can go away from them so that steady influence of the experience plays around is invaluable but it's making sure that the experience you've got they they might be 32 33 but they're still fit they're still hungry as well and the youngsters are are just as key just a final one on on QPR in terms of karamoko demele I was looking up some of his stats and uh he was decent for black P last year in in League one eight goals 13 assists I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in the championship yeah and I think as well I think players like him I think they improve with better players around him that's no disrespect for the players that he was playing with before F but I think especially as a forward um your service is better they give you the ball earlier if you make a run you know you're much more likely to to to have somebody that spots that run at a higher level so I think he is a sort of player given the right service which I think you'll get here that really could be one of the fins yeah um I noticed that when they they lost the first game and they badly lost it you're right to mention as well that you know was against cheffrey wednesy who then lost 4-0 and that would worry me a little bit you know they they they've played a team sometimes a team can start off and in the first 10 games blow everyone away and you think oh well we lost to them early on and um you know they they were a good team that might not be the case with Chevy Wednesday which which I'm sure wouldn't have gone a Miss on Wayne Rooney and his coaching staff look they they did get a draw against Hall um and Dreadful they had two permanent managers leave last season and everything seemed to fall off once Steven schumacker departed in December and in fact since he left the club Fay Plymouth have taken the joint fewest points of any everpresent championship team just 26 points they picked up in the League since Steven schumaker's departure so the rock really set in a while ago what is the problem then what is is there something going on behind the scenes that we're not privy to because it can't be that three managers come in and can't turn this club's fortunes around I what how many times have we seen it fa look I experienced management at South End and I I think when I took over at South End I think they' had had a a year or two where it was starting to struggle I left after 2 years and whoever followed me for the next three managers the same thing happened to them it was a club that that had lost its way um maybe there was a bad influence in the dress room you can all different not enough quality on the pitch you know you could you could you could aim that I mean last year I was looking a way foring to give you an indication of maybe the team SP within a club and they had the worst away away form in the division last year and I think when you look at a away form you look at um Spirit QPR went away 2-0 down ended up drawing a game two all some of the the clubs that had Haven got that Spirit they're never going to be able to achieve that how do you put Spirit back into a team it might be there there might be some bad influences in there but you can't get them out and one rule in football F and I'm sure every manager's experienced this the players that you want to get rid of and strengthen your squad are the players that nobody wants the only ones they want are the ones that you want you want to keep and and it's a really difficult situation to find you in well you have to make your Club an attractive proposition don't you in order to uh to to do that and that hope that those players who are in inverted commas the bad apples can be improved to an extent that someone will potentially uh take them on I'll tell you who has looked good for them though Ibrahim Soko I mean he's on loan from toou but he could be an important player for them going forward yeah and I think as well now that you mentioned that I think that there are players that would come to Plymouth Fay ordinarily they wouldn't have but because it's Wayne Rooney yeah you know they they want to sit down with Wayne say yeah I can relate to you you're a superstar I want to be able to play for you I want to say that I have played for you so that's that's a bonus with Wayne he will attract players that ordinarily wouldn't have gone to Plymouth well the players are in the tunnel getting areas that are perceived to be dangerous and both teams could have been punished I mean van heer does really well there doesn't really fall for for the step over in the little trick that that coob money tries to do but again both teams trying to play from the back both getting caught long raking Cross Field ball played by Brighton out to M on this near side he attacks the fullback Dow gets into the penalty area and then he's meet met by casemiro who didn't really anticipate coming and and Manchester United get it away but only briefly and M is back into the penalty area with another little onto his left foot this time he over hits his cross to the far post and it goes straight out the play that last little bit for M does really well Yak he does really really well gets the ball in a really good area face up Dow d does well in the first instant but when it comes back to him he thinking to calm yourself down go past him try and pick someone out and he almost gets caught in two minds he tries to cross it to the back post tries to go for going that back stick and just gets it all wrong but certainly from Brighton in this Counterattack he seems to be the outlet that down there bit wider where Jason steel can't come but he tries to put too much on it and almost forc rashford to go in there and again opportunity gone because as you said there Brighton's backline are so high and ter especially in that scenario where there's no pressure on the ball veltman good pass into Welbeck Welbeck a little bit too heavy though with his return down to the right corner of the penalty right side Amed Dio is bullied out of it by hinwood Jack hinwood who had a very good season last year missed the last few months because of an injury but was voted their young player of the year last week was his first appearance since February so it is going to take him a little bit of time to get back into his stde I mean the fact that he was the young player of the year when he stopped playing in February shows how good he was yeah and I thought he was good last week as well against Evan I thought he was really good obviously as you said they hadn't played for a while looked comfortable in possession as well relish is the one to one defending he's up against someone different as well and it was Jack Harrison last week this week he's against D both trickery both can go inside create problems and he's dealt with it so far in this game 20 minutes in really really well there's been no problems really down that side Good Touch by welck and he feeds it out towards the Right Touch line and belman then picks out Xiao Pedro Motors towards the edge of the area Mayu brilliant tracking run and wonderful sliding tackle to get the ball away from Manchester United but as Fernandez tries to spit on it and distribute it out towards The Far Side the ball takes a flick off him cuz it was a block tackle and goes out for a Brighton throw and they have it back again what a tackle by kobby May incredible cuz I just think J Pedro there was about to pull the trigger and have a shot on goal and kobby Maya came out of nowhere that defensive responsibility again for someone so young just senses danger Mount turns spins plays the ball out wide towards Amad Dio who Jinx his way to the edge of the penalty of Brighton getting players back Fernandez joins onto kobby Manu then they just slow it down a bit and go back towards the center circle where Martinez and casemiro ready to get involved in the attack ahmad's comes centrally but it's a very congested central portion of the pitch with Brighton getting everybody in blue and white shirts behind the ball out wide it goes to Fernandez then to rashford rashford goes on another run and then there was a little bit of a uh hand ball situation involving belman I think he sort of dived in and then caught the ball with his hand and scooped it away because he thought that Bruno Fernandez was going to nudge the ball into space down the left hand side and actually that should be a booking it should be it's a deliberate hand B at first I thought he got away with it the way he kind of dived in and scooped it The Blind Side from the referee but good referee in there and yeah it's a in handle it's definitely a booking and now an opportunity for for Manchester United to get the ball in the box but I almost feel like Brighton are allowing the ball to go wide for Manchester United cuz I feel with the lacks of van heer and Lewis dun they're two big guys what both of them six foot plus they want crosses coming into the box so they can deal with it what they don't want is that little bit of movement in and around the edge of the box where it's quite short and sharpen there's a bit pushing and shaming going on on the edge of the penalty here James Milner and Leandro Martinez have been paired together that's an interesting mix uh Harry McGuire is around the back post being watched by Xiao Pedro watch out for him dallow and rashford in there as well it's K towards a far post doow is there casamira with a header it's over the top of the crossbar now I don't know whether or not casemiro ended up fouling Jean Paul Van didn't realize about him how good he is in in set plays how how much he gets his head to the ball but there there was three or four of them I think D was behind him and there was opportunities for all of them to head the ball and that's something Brighton have got a look at there was an overload on that back post and in the end it's a poor header from casemiro he should at least hit the target from their strength he doesn't want to do it but why does he not want to do it for me I understand because for me the best thing about playing football would certainly when I played was scoring goals and by playing down the middle there the runs in behind you're going to get more opportunities but he just doesn't want to do it and I think he looks more comfortable playing out in down the middle cuz at the minute he's not offering anything play and wide here is belman on the right side feeding the ball to yanum M once again who slips the ball towards the edge of the sixy box and then Manchester United almost gave it away to M as they eventually try to get it out of their box it's still sticking around the edge of the area and then it's just hoofed Away by Fernandez and then up to the halfway line and Brighton got it back again and just get the feeling that after that initial response from Manchester United all of a sudden Brighton are just starting to assert a little bit of control on the game again yeah they are a little bit more belief now starting to move the ball really really well asking one or two problems I mean minai he's been chaos first half mean every single time the ball's been anywhere near him Diego Del doesn't know whether to go tight to lamb space to run in behind he just doesn't know what to do Martinez is getting drawn out now to try and help him but it's been a really it's been a really good first half from Brighton without really testing on ner enough Manchester United certainly haven't tested Jason steel enough but it's they who are being stretched and Bruno FZ and like Mason man I think both have done okay this first half but neither are set the forwards they're not offering enough for me and certainly up against van Hecker and dunk they've been so comfortable this first half if you put a physical presence up there up against them people that want to run in behind and really ask them a question then we'll see about this bright and backline defending but at the minute they're comfortable they're winning their headers it's been really it's been really easy for have to say this first half major mismatches like you said the strength and physicality of those two Center halfes are going to be very difficult to outmuscle for the two attacking midfielders Fernandez and mount but also last week I watched the game against Everton in detail studied it and realized that actually Everton's best chances came down the flanks attacking the flanks Amad dialo and rashford haven't done enough in the game against two fullbacks let's be honest about it Joel vman he's older than you and Jack hinwood I mean he's he's not a left back is he let's be completely hon honest he's uh he's played in a variety of different positions but he is a makeshift left back who's only played one game since February exactly it's been so comfortable for both fullbacks and you think Dello and rashford are both very very quick and both hurt you in behind and neither have had that opportunity I know the service hasn't been great to them but they've also got to do more to try and affect this uh this Brighton back line jaia Pedro into matoma lovely some really good areas but that last little bit of quality hasn't been there and then Brighton the one time they do put a couple of passes together and really make Manchester United defend they don't deal with it and then it comes back to Danny wck and listen it's a simple finish but his movement is so clever because he pulls into an area where he's just not marked and then it's it's a great ball from maton when he slides it in but for Manchester United going forward that first half they need to offer a lot more yeah they need to offer a lot more but just on that goal are you surprised that Martinez and Maguire weren't on Danny welck cuz you feel they should have been right he was right in the middle of that goal do you know what at times it you probably could say that about the two Center RS but in a split moment where they're watching where the ball is cuz matom was pulled out to a really good area they've belt with the first cross from from Mina really really well from J Pedro sorry really well so they F right that's the danger gone the moment they've turned their body to look back at matom and see where he's going to put it Danny wck seen that and just pulled himself into a really intelligent area and in those S of instances there's nothing you can do about it you can't Mark him you can't get bodies on him you just hope that the ball doesn't find its way to him and it does cuz it's a really intelligent cross and he just there to slide into the empty net you talk about United not offering very much going forward how much is it hurting them not playing with an out really really big impact against Fulham I would look at that and go would you know what I might have to sacrifice somebody but I think we'll see him sooner rather than later I was going to say because he came on in the kind of dying moments against Fulham didn't he uh who do you think is going to be sacrificed we're at the minute for me it were you if it were me it would have to be one of the Y players rashford and oo I'd give them maybe 5 10 minutes and then go if it's still not working then one of them comes off you put Mason Mount wider or Bruno Fernandez wider and then you put xerx down season but then they were winning they were 25 unbeaten all the players loved him when you're losing more games it's more difficult to keep them on side because maybe there's a lack of belief in what you're doing but he will stick to those principles and I I think it's one of the most fascinating things about the Premier League season how Russell Martin and his beliefs his belief the plan B is to would go up there and then he'd go up there I think he feels more comfortable in that number 10 area where he can just drift in pick up pockets of space and then now start to dict dictate play um certainly when they're brooming up from the back so yeah I think he'll feel more comfortable now in this type of situation yeah xer is another one that likes to drop in link the play not someone who necessarily is going to run in behind he's more likely to be the feeder to someone like rashford or ammed to do that we're playing against the high defense he described himself and I mentioned this on Friday night's game as a 9 and a half when he was asked what his best position is do you have a know a 9 and a half when you were playing no I mean why is he trying to over complicate it I mean you a former Manchester United man he's on the ball linking the play again over on the right side he gives it back to Milner Milner tries to send it in behind and M is running and there was just just enough of a touch from jodo which took it away from yanba M the gambian international and uh it runs in the end all the way back through to Anana and Anana will attempt to clear Under Pressure but there's more zip about Brighton in this second half ball out wide towards Amad diala he tries to take it in Field worth pointing out I think that actually the way that they organize their offside trap Brighton is is a real Menace I think for Manchester United to try and EXP because they're all very much in sync they are in sync and it is I mean it's a well ammad might have beaten that now he goes down the right side gets a better of hinwood cuts in left footed steers it towards the far Corner van Hecker slides in and it goes past the goalkeeper and in and The Equalizer comes about because Ahmad diello just held his run went at the right time got into the penalty area put jack Henwood on the floor drove his shot gold got a little bit for that van hecka was sliding in and he deflected it Beyond Jason still and it's Brighton one Manchester United one and that's what I mean by I mean it's it's tight it's really tight I don't know if he's going to be offside or not but that is really really tight but that's what I'm talking about if you time your runs better you'll get more opportunities because yes they are really well drilled this bright and back line but if you keep running in straight lines you'll run offside every single time on this occasion I know it's going to be tight he runs into an area and he I mean it's a unbelievable strike from Dio and it's van heck he tries to get his body across and he takes it into the open goal but that's what I'm talking about by movement Don't just run in straight lines time he runs better and you'll get more opportunities Amad Dio points to the badge of Manchester United and uh meanwhile van hecka waits for V to measure this now it looks incredibly tight I mean this is one of those that will be cleared up a lot quicker when we get semi-automated offside but I I think he's on side um they're still checking for a possible offside but I don't think it is do you I'm not sure I think he's leaning I I think potentially he could great play from Bruno Fernandez sliding that ball across to gacho and the Counterattack so let's just re explain what's happened here ammad picked the ball up from Fernandez giving it back to Fernandez Fernandez slipped this a brilliant ball right the way through the six-yard box gacho coming in the other side he puts it into an open net right but that net is then being challenged by xerx who's sliding in now he is actually in offside position when that ball is kicked by garnacho and because it just takes the faintest of touches a millimeter out from the goal he is in an offside position so it's no goal I mean gach has probably thinking to himself why I just put it in the empet anyway cuz I think he he almost scuffs it in a little bit too much and that's why hit xery but created certainly towards the end of the game they were Brave they were intelligent and they got their rewards I got to be honest there's a few cont Ral offside decisions during that game Brighton will probably have some complaints certainly Manchester United will feel hard done by even though if they cannot complain technically about the decision Darren is absolutely spot on about the
