Major global tech outage grounds flights, impacting some airlines at Sea-Tac

Yeah it's a busy Friday morning here at SeaTac at the airport actually just posted to X moments ago saying give yourself plenty of time if you're flying today because flights from several major US airlines are grounded this morning due to a communication issue. Right now here at SeaTac, there are 26 delays and 31 flights canceled. Those numbers continuing to change throughout the morning. Airlines now requesting FAA assistance with ground stops until this issue is resolved. Take a look. We're getting a look at what passengers are dealing with this morning. You guys these videos coming in to Fox 13 from a passenger flying Delta out of SeaTac here this morning saying that since there isn't much open yet, since it's so early, the Delta is actually handing out water and snacks to passengers who are stuck here at the airport right now. You can also see from another video that he posted the screens at the desk. No information on them whatsoever. This passenger telling us they actually spent two hours on the tarmac and then had to deplane, saying his red eye flight just got a lot longer now we are hearing from the FAA this morning. They posted to X saying they are closely monitoring what they're referring to as a technical issue impacting IT systems at U.S. airlines. One of those airlines impacted United. They posted a statement on X just moments ago saying, as we work to fully restore these systems, some flights are starting to resume. Many customers traveling today may experience delays. They have started to issue a waiver to make it easier for people to change their travel plans if they're flying United American Airlines also impacted by the outage. But according to their post on X, they are back up and running, saying that they have been able to safely reestablish their operation after a technical issue with a vendor impacted multiple carriers. Now, if you are flying American, you of course should still expect some residual delays from the outage and ground stop. This morning we have not yet heard from Delta in response to this outage in ground stoppage, but we do know that the majority of the delays in and cancellations out of SeaTac this morning are Delta flights. This is also impacting international travel as well. Airports in Europe. Also, seeing disruptions this morning, FAA saying that the ground stop has impacted all flights on airlines regardless of the destination. Right now, it is unclear just
