hi there I'm pilot officer Gordon Brownlow I was born in Toronto in 1918 I really wanted to become an RCF pilot but that didn't quite work out as planned so I became a navigator which turned out to be both challenging and rewarding early in the Second World War I became interested in joining the rcaf and later served as a navigator on a Master bombers in Wartime then he helped me navigate my experiences in the Second World War I didn't take a straight path in my enlistment and training and my service as a navigator and the bomber Squadron had its twists and turns as well what course would you like to take me and the Bomber Crew almost didn't make it out of an operation in 1945 got to hear about this one on March 12th 1945 as I walked into the mess hall that morning I was told that our crew were on Ops today our first Target was Dortmund each time we received orders to bomb a Target or complete a task in the air we called these Ops or trips it took 30 trips to complete a tour of operations after which you were taken off combat operations for airc who can be a very superstitious Bunch it was often left to luck whether you made it to 30 Ops after we returned we were told that 5,000 tons of bombs were dropped in this raid and I heard that the hell fact bomber that was shot down in front of us was out for trip 13 an unlucky crew 3 days later on the morning of March 15th 1945 we were told that we would be on Ops that night we had no idea that this would be the most nerve racking trip of all city of Hogan in the rar all right well thanks for the Intel goodbye
