maybe you have noticed another fun tradition that goes on here during the tailgate parties it is a big red fire truck that takes some tailgating die hards to the game but do you know the story behind it it's actually taking four generations of Youth fans to the game and Lindsay erand has the story yeah this all started with Marlene's skillings and the start of a tailgate group back in the 1970s well now they drive this fire truck two games and tailgate together giving rides to four generations of you fans everybody loves the truck and we just love to share it with everybody at the tailgate spot to know the history of this truck you need to know marleene skillings who in the 1970s began tailgating at Utah football games with two other couples literally tated with our sandwiches behind the stadium and that's how it started her informal afternoon soon led to more couples joining their tailgate Club one day in the mid 80s Marlene was at her High School reunion in her H state of South Dakota when a rare opportunity struck to buy a fire truck they were auctioning it off both of my brothers were Volunteer Fire um men and I so I felt very close to this truck the cost $825 my husband wouldn't let me buy it but I came back here and asked the tailgate group if they would like to buy it they all wanted the truck now approaching age 90 marleene is still riding the truck to games but the tailgate Club has gotten even bigger now we have grandkids and even great grandkids in in with us and her son-in-law Mao Mana is one of the only ones who can drive it firet truck is really about family um friends and fun marene says she'll stay in this group as long as she can riding with four generations of Youth fans to gain in style just like they have for decades I'm not dropping out because I'm the person that wrote the check for the truck yeah Marlene and her family say they love to take this truck out to community events to parades show it off they do have an Instagram page we'll link you at ksltv.com reporting at the UT tailgate I'm lindsays
