Oregon State DL Semisi Saluni Talks Defense, Idaho State, & MORE

[Applause] most looking forward to seeing out of this team on Saturday man I'm most looking forward for a win man so start off the season hot so be ready to roll aside from a win like what what does the successful first game look like for this defensive line for you guys just being all over the ball and uh just attacking from everywhere from the line from the linebackers from the uh from the back end so everybody just attacking to the ball making plays and so that's what we're expecting on the defensive side and so try to get the ball great turnovers and you know help the team win think coach Bray said he had seen the most growth uh on defense from the defensive line what have you seen from your perspective and where is that grow coming from I think it's uh it's coming from uh our hunger like we you know our D line doesn't have that much experience in the room and so you know this is a year we're going to come in Tech and so having that uh that hunger mindset to go attack the ball go get the ball make plays and really just show out for um for whole defense uh the dline has that mentality to go get it and show everybody what we about when you playing a team that you know throws the ball as much as they I state does how important is that pass rush on the on the edge and from the interior it's very important it helps the defense a lot if we create pressures obviously create sacks that you know help uh create longer drives and it just helps all around just to make the defense create more turn turnovers and get the ball back for offense to go and score how much fun is that for you when you know oh it's fun I'm not going to even lie like even today just having some action with uh with our defense uh just seeing us getting in the back field all celebrating it's more fun when we all in the back field celebrating as a team and uh getting that pressure in and so it's an excitement moment for everybody that's playing the D line coach uh seems like a theme in in for you guys' physicality and looking at your identity when you think about that who on the defense do you think kind of epitomizes or illustrates the physicality you want man I'm thinking about every all 11 players on the defense I think that with that mindset of attack front and just be being aggressive everybody wants to go hunt and so like we me and some of the teammates are talking like who's going to get the first tackle in the in the game and so we all competing to to go make the play and so I think with that mindset um that's what makes our defense uh uh different from others cuz we all want the ball we all want to we all want to get that chance to make the play playing everybody just wants to win so that's what it is there's got to be that one crazy guy you don't want to run in around the wrong time oh man there got to be one guy one or two guys I got to be coach Brave man I one guy you don't want to run into that guy's crazy himself so who knows he put him some P you see him just running all over the field so that's one crazy guy go your knees that would be crazy because there were so many um open starting positions coming into the season did that put a you know a real competitive like Edge on this and this training camp and the approach you had to take yes yes it did and I and it's fun because you just see everybody try to compete everyone's trying to get better and and that's the only way we're going to get better if you see people competing for that starting spot and regardless where everyone's at nobody's com uh nobody has that for sure starting role and so every day is a competition and so with that going into this fall Camp everybody was trying to uh win that job and it got everybody better defense and offense everybody all around
