"More sweat!" Challengers' Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor on sweat, grunts and tennis fails

[Music] so please feel free to answer this question by pointing um but who in the room is the best at tennis yeah very good who in the room is the worst interesting okay it's definitely oh it I don't think so you don't know what tennis is it's a relationship we went somewhere really beautiful together let's go who was the most likely to break not on a tennis way or corpse onset just start laughing break really me sorry start laughing yeah in the middle of a take definitely you it's absolutely you I'm not surprised because you spent a lot of this movie right in people's personal space yeah it's true actually I do you are in there I'm really right there aren't I what do you think how [ __ ] dare you Jesus Christ you want my best piece of advice for you want me to go don't you okay quit what is the trick to passive aggressively eating a banana um I don't know you reference yourself I referenced myself the other day in an interview they were like I was thinking about Nick curios and I was like he does this amazing thing he eats banana and then they were like Josh that's you in the movie he's he's that good he's that good uh I tell you he's utter narcissist me yeah not a lot of people know that and who was most likely to forget the lines in front of Luca you guys were pretty sharp I don't remember we drilled our lines yeah I think we were all pretty I don't think there was ever a dry or a corpse to be honest no no but if would be I was on the edge yeah so tell me about meeting each other for the first time because I imagine youd to have like a chemistry test but then also like a tennis test is that right what we did a chemistry we did yeah In This Very Hotel really really full circle well well well that's right we are that's so that is true they allowed to know that forg that yeah whereas they just brought you in Josh yeah just hoped yeah a hope in a prayer yeah he'll do they said yeah he'll do did you did you guys have to do a tennis audition because otherwise none the first day of tennis training was like was interesting okay was there lots of sighing your coach just going yeah but I also you know what it was it was a lot of like this because we saw that he was he was really good and so I remember locking eyes with you like we're kind of not doing what he's doing we're going to work on this at home in our own time yeah I will say there you know when you're trying a new skill at least I feel incredibly insecure about doing it in front of people and we were on courts next next to each other so I was like please just don't look over here just like just don't don't look at me true please because I was right by the windows I was right in the front and I was like so embarrassed i' would hate to have a reflection of myself not playing tennis well like mirrors in gyms no thank you I don't need that by the way how hard is it I'm going to ask the guys this question obviously I suppose how good are you at dealing with Zena's unimpressed face cuz I've had it a couple of times and in this movie you both get it a lot what does my unimpressed face look like come on let's have it it's sort of like eyebrows down okay there it is yeah is looking familiar yeah I it's like marriage my un impressed I actually remember there's one specifically in the film which is I think it's one of my favorite looks which is when I say I come and say do you want to go out for a cigarette and you're like you do this look and it is killer isn't it it really flaws you I asked I won't name their names two people to do a special Spider-Man handshake and your look afterwards was like the same skin bang guns it's the guns it's the finger guns at the end that get people yeah cuz they switch it up a similar look that's so funny Paddington stair Shivers but you must have moments with director Luca he is a legend will you ever just sort of caught in the moment going I've just got a not from Luca and do you have any memorable on absolutely I think more sweat more sweat yeah I'll get right on that sorry just press the button yeah exactly no absolutely I think he he has he's so specific and I think what's really cool is you know during our rehearsal process which was really fun he we he totally gave us room to play and figure out these characters and talk about it which is like a rare luxury in in this kind of situation to be able to spend that much time um with your fellow actors and like get to know these characters and discuss what's on the page but like as we were rehearsing I remember like he would have very specific ideas about like try putting your like just try like leaning your head down on that on that on that line or like try like I remember he was like reach out to her at first it feels like I feel like that would be so weird to do that at that point like in your head you're like I don't know if that's like my instinct to do that and then you do it and it's brilliant you know like he's just got these little it's like these little human things he's a bit good I'll say that much yeah that he can add and and and and I think that's that beautiful collaboration right where you can bring things and your director can bring things and together you can find something really special I'm just so glad you got that rehearsal time because cuz you've called this movie codependency the movie yes come here which one of us and if you don't have time to get to know each other it's not going to sell it's not going to fly it's not going to work I'm also curious and this is a real curiosity question how many hours did you spend in the ADR Booth doing breaths and efforts oh my goodness because this is a tennis movie and there's a bit where you just run you guys do more you guys do a lot more can you imagine how embarrassing it is we haven't talked about this like together but it was embarrassing you in the dark room people like what did you do I was doing all the movements with like a microphone I had to hold the mic and I was going like and that good as well um and it was so embarrassing yeah being an actor is very embarrassing sometimes you just have to go how how was your day cringe just cring 5 hours of cringe just runting in a in a room Yeah by myself up pretending to hold a tennis racket I don't know why I'm like I don't think you pretended to hold the tennis racket no I could tell I could I could just tell what were the other alternate names you think could have applied to this movie other than see the movie attractive tennis Rivals attract tennis Rivals more sweat the movie I was going to say more sweat we need to talk more about that because particularly in that final I was about to say fight the final match it is really yeah a fight drenched it's a battle to was that were there people running up to you with like spray guns or chucking buckets but I will say Mike you a lot of it was real yeah M Mike started his when he knew that SK yeah when he knew that like they were going to start shooting he he created his own some people can cry on Q this guy swe sweat on Q sweat on Q he can sweat on Q he's doing it now yeah we're talking about it you're just thinking can I do give a compliment yeah I'm like when is this over you look fantastic great see it's there beaing right there you also have to do and I love this in tennis movies it's an obligation oh the yeah of course oh that I think all of the back I think you got your neck was broken yeah you came in the next day with a but it was I mean honestly they had to like um how did they do cuz you all of you look they just had the they had your doubles play oh that's right just like rally back and forth there were no doubles I know there were no doubles it's all you the doubles um but you know what's interesting too is like in those moments where everybody's watching and looking back and forth it it really highlights the moments where her she gets inside her own head because you see her head is the only one that becomes still for a moment and then she clocks back into this movement so I think it was kind of a brilliant um storytelling device that LCA kind of used no joke fully agree and I will say this I love the idea of you getting home one day with an injury and it wasn't I from tennis from tennis just from watching I had a really hard day watching tennis guys okay this is where I goodbye cheers thanks
