this one's from espn.com executive coaches and Scouts rank the NFL's top 10 running backs for 2024 they go Christian mcaffrey one breee Hall from the Jets number two and Nick chub from the Browns number three AFC executive he'd be number one for me if healthy even though I'm not sure how he's going to look look he deserves to be ranked High AFC Personnel evaluator even if he's lacking some of the explosive explosion in the short term still has instincts and Good Feet hopefully that shines through and he gets the power back he is such a good player Fred I I I show you that I know you also have written an article um for the Orange and Brown Report your running back analysis you know looking ahead at that position group take us through that uh that article that you wrote for the Orange and Brown Report well you know the biggest elephant in the room is you don't know when he's going to be able to play and when he when he comes back is he going to be a 5.3 yards carry back or a 3.5 or or something like you know less than himself that's the hard thing and I think with the way the schedule sets up in the second half of the year it just seems like you want to make sure and maybe bring him along slowly maybe just kind of like put him on a pitch count and bring him along slowly even if he's ready to go sooner than later um because you're really need him for the stretch run sure you'd like to have him from the get-go but who knows I wouldn't put anything past him a lot will tell when we get to training camp in two weeks at the greenb will he be on the pup list a lot of us assume he will be but I assume cion Taki Taki was going to be on the pup list last year and he started day one in training camp and started the season so um yeah you like I said before same thing even 80 85% Nick chub is probably the best running back on the roster I saw a ranking that didn't even have chub ranked in the top 25 so it's good to see one there I mean you can't argue with his talent so the Browns know that and one of my colleagues wrote a analyzed his contract you know he took like a $10 million pay cut to resign with the Browns and all his incentives to make that money back are in production and he pointed out that he thought this meant chub will be ready or his people thought he would be ready early in the season because for him to hit all those incentives he would almost have to play most of the season because the numbers were similar to what he has done in the past and obviously you can't do that if you only play half a year I think I had him somewhere around 800 yards because I kind of aired on the on the caution that they would bring him along slowly and maybe bring him back towards the middle of the season but obviously it'll be a jump start if he plays earlier than later but I just think with you know the second half of the schedule and I think four Prime Time games and and all that and that's your playoff push or stretch drive it would just be such a a boost in the arm for the Browns to the return of Nick chub you know at some point as opposed to not saying it wouldn't be a big deal to have him to start the year but you can just see the lift when he returns whenever that will be yeah and the other thing is I think they've protected themselves pretty well you've got Ford you've got Foreman you've got Hees you have a number of options with guys that do different skills that have different skill sets that they can use yeah Pierre strong you know he had one of the best yard per carry in the limited time that he played so you have like I said they let Kem hunt go but Dante foran and Naim Hines kind of I think absorb that role so even if you go into the season without chub you have Foreman Hines and you know Ford who had just under a thousand yards was pretty good in his own right and Pierre strong so you have your one and two backs returning well outside I'm not discounting Kareem Hun he had a lot of touchdowns but he only averaged three yards of carry last year which was like the the lowest in his career
