he well good evening everybody Welcome to the Denver Bronco Roundup podcast brought to you by Rocky Mountain Sports Network sponsored by Morgan trinkets my name is Keith bugman thank you so much for joining us on this man Friday night man it seems weird being a Friday night because even though there's only three faces on the screen right now we're expecting all four at some point four horsemen on a Friday night man appreciate it appreciate everyone jumping in here I'm going to go ahead and start going around the horn I'm going to introduce Albert mile highdy Albert say hello to Broncos Country hello Broncos country it's uh I'm really excited to be here tonight it doesn't happen often I wasn't able to be this uh Tuesday and which I yeah was unfortunately but things happen in life like work and so but I was able to come here tonight and I'm really excited about this and let's have a wonderful show yeah let's have a fantastic show man it's always a fantastic show when I got duy on my side even if he's coughing choking he needs some recola but I'll tell you what when I have Jody the judge mon creef man even a better night judge welcome to Broncos Country what's up uh I put last Sunday behind us um on to Pittsburgh um glad we don't have to deal with the rush drama BS and hopefully Nicks learns from the mistakes which he's done and game two is much better than game one there you go buddy there you go and we're that's I think that's where're how we're going to kind of get into this we're going to take you know what we saw from this week one game but really start projecting it into you know how that corresponds to going up against this Pittsburgh team at home what it how we need to improve what needs to look better you know how are we going to come out with a W because honestly I said it before I thought these first two games were very very crucial because after this it does not get necessarily easy as we head on the road for the next two against some formidable opponents so let's get a win here let's figure out how we can do it maybe Shawn Payton's listening in and all his OC's DC's and we can get this all figured out for him I'm going to get it figured out by heading over to the posi that's all of you in the comment section over to the side and say hello to everybody that includes Mr Ernie May saying go Broncos Country Only Bone Nicks for six hello Keith and friends oh hello Ernie we appreciate you jumping in here always being a fantastic supporter he's he knows when our shows are before I know when our shows are sometimes I think so thank you so much Ernie uh Pearl our fantastic owner of Morgan trinkets our sponsor hello to from Pearl Hello to Pearl we appreciate you so very much and um we'll talk a little bit more about Morgan trinkets here in a little bit Roy Osborne jumping in saying hey there Horsemen and the posi the posi that's you guys you should know that by now jump in here with all your comments and questions we appreciate you guys being a part of the show every single day night whenever we're jumping in here so Scott's jumping in here as well saying good evening all Horsemen and the posi we got ceny kpatrick of the amazing K&K Sports show guys saying good evening fellas fun Friday is here looking forward to the show or the shoe whichever you want to put in there I know that Kenny's always got the the the fumble fingers on the keyboard I'm just giving you a bad time there Kenny um and uh yeah go Broncos Country only hello man says Ernie May so Gentlemen let's just jump into it you know there there is a lot of places that we think that we can maybe improve on or maybe be if nothing else we know that we're going to be going up against you know a fairly you know competitive team a team that's already put up a win in their column leading the AFC North and that's the Pittsburgh Steelers so they're coming in to Denver uh but they're coming in you know with uh wanting to continue this run that they're already on you know if they can go up 20 in their division um to start off the season that's very good for them um it's going to be very very very difficult it's going to be a tough game it's going to be a ground and pound type of game so let's get into it right off the bat let's start talking what you saw from the Denver's offensive line and how that matches up against this Pittsburgh Steelers front Jody I'm gonna start with you on this one how do you think you know whether it be wattenberg to to per for that matter um or per I should say um how do you think this offensive line will match up against the Pittsburgh Steelers what are we looking for as we head into this game uh I think it's very simple you have to block TJ watt he is a he can wreck this game um you got to get Mike mgit or whichever side he lines at mlit or excuse me or bulls help you've gota you've got to help whether you chip put a tight end in there I mean you kept all these extra tight ends on the practice squad and all these you carrying four on the roster use them to help block them that's where it all starts from and you got to find a run game um you gotta be committed to it what did I see seven runs the second half that's not going to cut it bck can't drop back 49 times that's also not gonna cut it sounds like Garrett Bulls is gonna play I mean he was a full go today at practice um so you have should have your full o line back but that's where it starts you got to you got to block their edges and you've got to be able to run the ball um and I someone in the chat last week said and I don't know who it was if javante if it's not javante then you got to move on it's been since 2021 since he's had a 100 yard game um I haven't seen very much from him he hasn't looked explosive since the injury you carried four running backs for a reason um audre es is on IR shortterm so McLaughlin or Blake Watson was the reason you kept him around use him don't be afraid to use him but you got to establish this run very good uh comments are starting to pour in but I want to get the Albert first on this Albert your thoughts is we have our offensive line one that we have invested quite a bit of money in um to to bring in and and be that you know that that group that's supposed to be leading this team as Mike mcclin has even said in his press conferences these have got we have to lead this team what we do is going to be as as far as this team can go how far can this team go against this defense that you know is causing Havoc all over the league no matter it seems like where they land especially when you have a guy like TJ Watt on your team what are your thoughts Duty yeah they have to they have to step it up big time uh especially Pro protection against tj1 because that guy is just a little uh game ball wrecker and so and and that is fine and we know we are up to and we know we can uh how how we can act against it you know you can you can plan against a team like this but I to totally agree with what J just said but how can you get even 100 yards of rushing if the team is not even rushing if you only have seven rushing seven s Snaps are rushing in the second half that my opinion there is at least four seven uh seven more needed so 14 15 snaps per half just for running that is at least what you need oh yeah you cannot get 100 yards rushes if you don't even play the run so and is the difference and all right no I I'll agree with you I think the maybe coaching should be the second topic we really bring up and and you know how that can really be a change as far as from week one to week two but this offensive line is going to have its hands full it doesn't matter if it's TJ watt or anyone across that off or defensive front they they they are a a formidable front and their linebackers with Patrick Queen sitting back there behind them is is another layer let's face it Pittsburgh defensive defensive defenses sorry have always been good they've been fantastic and Mike tomlin's going to Pride himself in the way that defense goes out there and plays so they're going to have their handful and I not just about the pass rush TJ watt it can be just as big of a guy blowing up your your run in the back field um his ability to be able to cut down onto the onto the runner and and catch him from the side or from behind um is just as good as his pass rush in my opinion so they're going to had their handsful I the the thing that concerns me the most heading into this game is we have Garrett BS who's going to be probably heavily taped out there trying to protect on one Edge and looking at the tape he didn't do all that well last week even though you know he wasn't necessarily the guy called out he certainly could have got a few penalty Flags thrown his way I can tell you that so Quinn Miners struggled Mike mcglen struggled you know there was there was a lot of improvement that could be had across that offensive front and I'm not just talking about when we're talking about pass protection because I think if we're going to see truly what Chante has truly what mclin's capable of heck even though estim is out you know what estimate estimate may may have been capable of in this last game that offensive line has got to start playing better so I I I'm not ruling out the fact that you know javante um may or may not be the running back that he wants was um I'm not ruling out the fact that we may or may not have to move on from him at some point but I'll tell you what I I would really hate to draw that conclusion based upon how this offensive line played I think there's a lot to be desired and this is a group that needs to absolutely Step Up So before we move on guys I got to get into the the comments because like I said I think it's it's blowing up over here so uh first off I'll just say hello to Clayton that's saying smash that like and share button we appreciate it very much Mr Phil mlin coming in saying Keith good evening Keith duy and the judge I am hoping that we use Bo Nicks um in the Pro this week his legs could be the difference so you know that that's a good that's another way to get a quarterback going and I'll just throw it quickly Around the Horn Phil's always got good comments I haven't jumped in to see if we're dropping any stars but Phil always appreciate you nonetheless uh Albert do you think that you you said that we need to get more running from the running backs do we also need to get more running from the quarterback I I don't think so you should keep him uh sparingly and only when there's no other option let him run but uh designate a place specifically for for him I would say maybe two maybe three plays over the over the game and the rest is yeah improvisation runs yeah those three in in the back field they are the they're the supposed to be the runners and then if you rely on them then Bon will be dangerous when he goes on the run because they don't expect it yeah don't make him an uh full-time Runner uh Jody we saw a lot of roll outs as it was getting bone neck maybe on the Move um getting the pocket on the Move does he need to turn up field start putting his his feet down and and turning it up field and maybe getting a few yards himself what do you think about bonck getting more runs in this offense like Phil's suggesting um I don't know about More Design runs um I think he needs to run when something's not there that's a tool that other quarterbacks don't have um after last night it scares me watching your quarterback run I mean I know Tu has got concussion issues and stuff from the past but I mean all it takes and he didn't even get hit hard all it takes is just one shot and and he's done um but it is a tool that he has run but run smart um no when to slide no when to get out of bounds there's no need to take big shots to get one or two extra yards that's there's no need for it yeah learn learn to slide is right even when B Knicks Dove head first in that game I'm like oh no not that Bo not that please don't do that one that's let's go feet first if we can let's learn that uh second base slide I mean like Lamar Jackson last week he was you know he was lower on his shoulder trying to run into guys I I don't like that um eventually someone's going to blow him up then he's going to get hurt um that's the most important position on this team everyone has hope for a reason so why I mean what's Bronco country is going to be like if Nicks is out and we're already playing Jared stinum well I don't know if we'll have the excitement I can tell you that about the season like we should still have and and still do have right now we're only one week in every team's got a win one every team's got to lose one it's all about learning from that last week turning the page and getting to this week Kenny says I think the Broncos and the fans are going to learn a lot about this team this week Steelers come in with a top defense but a team in my opinion you can beat so Kenny always we always value Kenny's opinion because well he's does this himself check out the KK sports or K&K podcast KK Sports show over I don't know check out the K&K Sports show yes um Kenny Kurt they have tons of shows over there um if you're looking for wits and wagers if you're looking to talk a little Broncos if you're looking for Giants football that's the place to go Kenny's got you taken care of so um I gotta you know this is a new name and and uh I just want to you know I don't know if we're trolling a little bit or not but we have Kendrick not the Kendall clamar I don't believe coming in from Utah and he's just asking a simple question you know what happens and and we'll just we'll we'll indulge us for a second for Kendrick but what happens we get to the end of the season and we just find out that Nicks isn't good quickly put it into a nutshell what would that mean for you I'm going to start with the judge if it's like and I can't think of his name of the guy from Arizona you move on and you probably are picking top five and you go back to the well um Josh rosan Josh rosan if it's something like Bryce young then you probably roll year two and um hope that it was growing pains and you know laway what laway go one and seven or something and yeah yeah uh Albert wrap it up in a nutshell what if uh what if Nicks just isn't good we find that out by the end of the season go ahead and humor Kendrick what what's your answer then I if if he is not not good by the end of the season I would not go for another quarterback give him another year to try it you you you you can see it with Bon Mayfield and what is probably going to happen with Sam darnold a lot of teams give up way too quick on on a quarterback John Elway wasn't really good for his first year should he have given up on him immediately that year I but from what I see I see we we have a lot of potential in bonck and I think if this year is not the year and he a lot of growing paint there's a lot of good things that are happening right now and that's why they they're not going to turn away from him yeah I'll add something I if you watch preseason week one I mean although he was completing passes and different things his feet were all out of sort he was just just kind of throwing off balance and different things and Sean pton made that a point that get your feet settled and get get right in week two he stood in the pocket and he made strong throws and it was a totally different bow Nicks and that's you know that's what I expect this this upcoming game yeah sounds like he doesn't make mistakes makes a mistake and learns from him and doesn't repeat it again so hopefully that's what happens this game you know I it that's a great Point Jody I thought of it um before we came into the podcast you know maybe it was even yesterday for that matter we're still stacking days you know just because we're at a training camp and we talk about stacking days stacking days these guys are still stacking days they're taking the tape they're stacking days they're getting ready for this next game and to your point B knck has been shown to be one of those guys that can do that that can step up and take that information and progress a step forward so to your guys's point you know don't don't give up so quickly you know and let this guy play out as as long and as hard as it possibly can even pton Manning was on a podcast he says you know too many of these times you know the guy throws some interceptions and they pull him out of the game no let him go out there let him throw seven interceptions in a game let him figure it out so that includes additional Seasons but I want to move on in this conversation question how far do you think bonck is behind someone that would have got 100% of the Reps in training camp do you think that's how you think he's set back at all or not really I don't think it mattered all that much especially just the way that they were rotating guys in that in that training camp you know ones were play you know the number ones were playing even with bonick even when he was playing with the number tws as far as wide receivers stuff like that so and just the the amount of experience that this guy has you know what I mean he doesn't come in being a guy like um you know that's you know only had a year or two in college I mean this is a a fairly experienced guy I I don't I don't I don't think you know again a few more reps and training camp necessarily gets you completely over the top to where you know you look completely different come week one Albert what are your thoughts so here I read an article uh today about an interview with Joel Lombardi about B Nick he said B Nick came in on Monday and he knew exactly what he did wrong and that is in my opinion a quarterback that has it all that will get it all and he will improve everybody else why he is the starter and because if you can see your own faults without being people having to tell you what went wrong that means that that means to me he has studied himself he has observed himself he played replayed the game and came up with Solutions where he needs to improve and that's what Joe Lombardi said in that interview and that's what bonix date on Monday I think I think we are we are just fine we bonix very good man uh appreciate everyone coming in uh having jumping in with comments jumping in with ideas and thoughts I'm going to just get to one more one more when we were all talking about uh Nick's being getting a few designed runs Martin came in over on YouTube and say Nick is going to be running from watt anyway you might as well design some runs for him and that's not a bad idea Martin that's not a bad idea because you can actually catch a guy like watt offu guard by doing something like that so you know I don't know if it was said in just but I'll be honest I think that might be something that you absolutely see especially if you can end up trapping a guy like TJ Watt and and getting him kicked out of the play because you're running towards him rather than let reacting to what he's doing go ahead and get him involved in that play um talking about getting him involved it's the four horsemen now we got Trevor the rocket man salsman jumping in here welcome Trevor how's it going buddy doing well Keith you know can't wait to break this game down and uh you know let's go it's you know no more excuses from anybody you know it's we're at home and um yeah I mean go Broncos and let's go time to roll all right well you join us late we're all done breaking it all down we're about ready to sign off I'm just kidding I'm just kidding I'm get a bad time uh appreciate you joining in I know that you were running late wanting to be here on time uh it's always good to have the Rocket Man in here and get his two cents on everything we just got done going over the offensive line all the all the uh work that they'll have cut out for them as they go up against this defensive line we started getting into that that bow Knicks piece we you know let's go ahead and talk about B knck let's talk about the and the and the running game all in one Fell Swoop guys we'll go into that back field I guess you the best way to put it what do we need to see knowing what we saw from in Seattle and now projecting it over to the Steelers game as we welcome them in for our opener in Mile High what do we need to see from this from this back field Trevor you just got welcomed in I'm gonna throw you right on the mic what do you got for me buddy yeah I mean again I just I think it's John pton sticking to the run you know not trying to give Nicks too much to handle again because in this game in my opinion you know it's going to be a tight game game but it's going to come down to who you know who turns over who turns off the ball less and I think penalties those are two things I think are kind of factor in this game um and if you're Shawn pton you can't have bonick pass 40 plus times and expect you know there not to be an interception he's a rookie you know and they're going to read that defense and their secondary is good you I think it's an underrated secondary around the NFL and you don't want to get TJ wat going uh you know so I think that they need it comes with balance and running the ball efficiently um and if that starts with Javon Williams if hey if javante is not seeing the holes that are there pull him you jul mloa next man up you know maybe we see Blake Watson this game since estim out so it's one of those things where put different running back mixes in there and stick to the running game a little bit more and then I think that their bonck will be more successful and this offense will be more successful but you cannot turn over the ball you have to win over the turnover battle and you can't have eight penalties like you seems like you have it seem like penalties have been kind of an issue as well ever since preseason and so I just think we need to clean those up a little bit if you're Shawn pton but for me it starts with Shawn pton first he's got to come in he's got to out coach Mike Tomlin he can't be out coached in this one I'm gonna bring this about a little bit different way I'll head down to Albert because Roy came in with this and I think this leads right into what we're talking about because this is my concern Albert Roy believes the Steelers are going to stack the Box stack the bo box against javante Williams against Jalil mlin against Blake Watson and just Dare for the Broncos to go over the top we didn't see a whole lot of long passes out of B Knicks we saw a lot of Sidelines sometimes even behind the line of scrimmage type of passes so if they stack up the box if they got those guys pressed on the outside edges it's going to be Prett tough tough game what are we going to do when we want to get that run going and yet they're stacking us like that how do you get it done buddy 22 personel have multiple backs in the back you have B run uh B Nick who can even eventually run and then you have two tight ends that are also blocking guess what there will you will create some openings at some point and that's what you need to do you have to attack their defense full on we cannot so wait till they they re uh what to what they doing now we have to attack them and that will create the openings uh a lot of times and we have not seen much of that 22 personel type of things I think that is where where the where the metal needs rubber needs to meet the road because I think that's going to be beneficial Phil says uh that was the point about the Run pass off and get Nicks out and maybe Mims will be open deep Kendrick's coming back here in and I'm going to posee this over to jod in this regard you know we were trying to get a lot of things going a running game wasn't necessarily working but that passing game had issues he's wondering what did you I'm GNA ask it to you Jody what do you think about the cawks 44.8% pressure win rate that they had last Sunday no I think it goes back to Shawn pton he needs to commit to the run more uh get the line settled in and you know into the game you've got to get the Run game going um next off I we I need to see something to back the back back a stack box up we didn't throw any deep passes m i mean my guess Troy Franklin dresses this game he's a Speedster Marvin mim's a Speedster you've got to have something where bonex takes a shot over the field on with one-on-one coverage um or these teams are just going to just live in the Box till you prove that you can back them up a little bit Yeah and uh it was Trevor that hit our chat I think right off the bat soon as he found out Devon V uh did not practice today uh that should be that could be signs that he's not dressing come Sunday and if that's the case we'll have another wide receiver spot that we could possibly open up an elevated guy uh I think I seen out already yeah already out out it's already he's out see I try to keep on top of all this but you know luckily I have the four horsemen or the other three Horsemen to to keep me on on on page there you know okay um before we we talk about any sponsorship here guys let's round out more this offensive side of the ball let's talk about those receivers because I we just brought we what what a perfect segue we just got into looking at what we saw last week versus what we need to see this week versus the Steelers Albert I'm going to go to you first what do we need to see from the receivers on this Denver Broncos team as they match up against this this Steelers defense like I said not an easy defense even all the way through if you're talking Minka Minka Fitzpatrick uh also a guy that you got to be watching out for in that in that secondary as well so what are your thoughts Duty first I need they need to put some pitch on their gloves because they need to be able to hold the balls and catch the ball of course you some some throws from bonck were not well placed that is okay but if they hit you square on the chest you should you should have them and they should be yours and yeah uh see if what Mims can do because right now you have a a little speed King there and bonix can deliver the ball so use it take it to your advantage once in a while get a person uh free and I think we got another little Speedster and put them in play and let put two speeders in in the field they have to back up Albert I like your thoughts man the one thing that I was a little bit concerned as we started to put this roster together it's something that coach was very happy about is that we had larger guys a lot of taller guys a lot of heavier guys and those aren't necessarily the fastest guys on the field when you put that all together you need to have a little diversity mix it up a little bit Mims Franklin something to that effect getting more involved in this offense that's Albert's thoughts Jody I'll head over to you what did you see from this this receiving group this receiver room in the Seattle game and what do they need to do um versus the state dealers uh I know Nicks didn't have the greatest game but they got to catch the ball I mean we had four drops in this game um I know they weren't right you know right on target but you gotta help like Shawn payt said you got to help your rookie out two I think two or three of them would have kept drives going where that goes from there I don't know but I mean it's just momentum that was lost on there was a couple of them I know little Jordan Humphries and I think Sutton had ones that were easy first downs that were dropped so um you've got to you've got to make those catches help your young rookie out um especially when you're you're complaining about getting paid more money that's a catch that an elite wide receiver makes that's right little Jordan humphers he's got to make that one that was right I mean that was right there um and then I want to see these wide receivers I we haven't seen it in training camp really we didn't see any PR season games B Nick has got to show that he can air it out and throw an accurate deep ball to get seven out of the box and I would like to see more I know Shawn Payton's big on PLS and that type of thing but I would like to see some maybe curls or something if you're going to throw these little short routes something other than crossers over the middle or Slants you've got to mix it up a little bit more and get more creative than these Slants and crossers fair enough little mix up in the game plan but yeah obviously one of the things that was pointed out from the very get you know hey when a guy like little Jordan humph has a hitch you right in the hands you kind of need to bring that one in especially when you're trying to get a rookie quarterback just a little bit of momentum Trevor wide receiver group what do you need to see from that group especially what you've seen from Seattle and now thinking about how that matches up versus Pittsburgh yeah um it's it's going to be tough because it seemed like Devon V was the only guy that could you know break a tackle you know in this wide receiver room you have these big wide receivers but um not in my opinion you're not you're not utilizing them right I mean again there's no deep ball with within this offense I get you want to get the ball out quickly with B Nixon what not but I mean can we take a couple shots downfield with some of these big wide receivers I mean it's just one of those things where um I mean there was Guys open somewhat on Sunday last Sunday against Seattle but again Nick Nicks overthrew him his accuracy was a problem as well again that's one of those things a mixed baggage of everything kind of going wrong not just one guy or one you know person within this offense that's going wrong right now so um you I want to see Marvin Mims I want to see Troy Franklin step up I these guys you use top two top 100 draft picks on them I mean if you didn't use you know why did you use those top draft picks on them in top 100 if they're not going to play you know at some point in time you need get them on the field and see what they can do toy Franklin's a little raw I understand that but I mean if you're if this team's going more towards the whole retool uh kind of you know situation as a team that well then use you use your rookie wide receivers get them time them sitting on the sidelines what is that going to do for them long term so and Colin Sutton he's got to have a bigger game on Sunday in my opinion as well him and bonick got to figure out that connection between those two seems like those two were off on this past Sunday against Seattle so I understand the ball with Nicks quickly you may may be again here's I'm going back to the run a little bit with sha pay maybe it's the scheme that's all he's also that's kind of just not there I mean he this Broncos offense has never been an offense that's been top tier in the NFL as far as running the football so is IT personnel or is it scheme with Shawn pton that's a big question I think for me and big question going into this game up against Pittsburgh but yeah we shall see what who steps up in the wide receiver room it's going to be challenging without Val because I think he's one of your Playmakers right now um you know in this wide receiver room so me guys stepping up and uh you know let's see how kind of this you know team ends up rolling out yeah um there's a few things I want to get Phil's question in here I'll answer it as well but you know the unfortunate thing about this last game is every time I saw seemed like I it seemed like every time I saw Bo Knicks do the the best thing the right thing is is when is when our receivers tended to fail him a little bit and when you know he needed a little bit of help you know maybe they were there and they got him taken care of in most situations outside of a drop or two but like I said it it just it was unfortunate it seemed like when he you know that that pasted a little Jordan humph that was the best option and he went to the right guy and it was right where it needed to be and yes the pass was a little behind Sutton but as Jody said you know if you want to be an elite wide receiver if you want to be paid a little bit more those are the type of passes that you do need to pull in we're not talking about Devon V having to pull in a pass like that and he's only a seventh rounder this is a guy that you've invested in and should be coming up for you so you know he needs a little bit of help out there too but that's the one of the things I guess I've seen across all the way across this team at least especially from the offensive side of it is that these guys didn't seem like they were out there playing at Full Throttle full playing at full capacity fully you know maybe they just weren't um game quite game ready and they just need to get one worked out and get the cobwebs worked out but Phil's coming in and says guys anyone know why Marvin Mims had so little plays on offense pton said since last year the Judy was why Mims wasn't getting used that much last year what's up now well he did get he was out on the field he was taking offensive snaps I will say I I'll have to take a take a look at snap count um maybe that'll get better and get increment incrementally better as the weeks progress as well um but if bonick didn't necessarily have you as your number one read in this in this uh s in this you know system that or the scheme that we put forth um in the Seattle uh game plan um then you you weren't getting a whole lot of them I mean if you even if you look at his his passing chart there was so many that were throwing directly to the sidelines well that's one of two things you're either a going to your receivers in quick bubble screens which we saw a ton of or we're going out to our wide receivers out there and a lot of those were quick passes as as well so if you're little alone when when it was time to throw down the field bonick tended to you know look at his number one the most I'll just put it that way um had a hard time getting to to second and third reads so unless this was schemed for Marvin Mims to be the one when he was out there it probably wasn't going to him but hopefully hopefully those snap counts come up um because I don't think I saw enough of him to that point I'm welcome back you to the to the stage as well so I think it goes back it it goes back to Nicks he he he got to get his feet settled that's where it's all at with Nicks um when you're bouncing around back there and you're throwing off your back foot and you're even whatever that pass that he made to Sutton where he kind of went up in the pocket he's throwing throwing weird and settle your feet and make a throw that should have been one that he drove and hit you know suton right in the numbers where he could have turned and ran or done something but sutt had to go down and scoop it off the ground but like I said that was what he did week one and week two his feet were settled there was one play in that preseason game that I won't forget somebody one of the running backs chipped a guy and he was right at Bon next's feet and he just stood right there and made a pass he didn't didn't bother him it didn't bug him he's got to get to he's got to get there um I don't know if it was nerves of the first game or what but that's done and over with settle your feet and that I think will fix 99% of the problems yeah I I agree like I said still stacking days still stacking weeks and I still have a lot of positivity for where this team is going also you guys know what else I have a lot of positivity about our amazing sponsor Morgan trinkets Morgan trinkets is your place for Southwest jewelry Southwest pottery and a state gold at wholesale prices once a nationwide company now amazing New pieces you just had put out today uh Graham just kind of wrapping up the offensive side of the ball uh just let us know that Mims was out there on 52 of the 75 snaps so that's what uh what about two-thirds of the snap two-thirds of the the plays out there on offense he was out there so uh kind of getting back to what I was saying he I don't think he was necessarily schemed into this offense so now it's just a matter of hey do we see more more of Marvin Mims you know being a key piece in this offense being a you know a key in this in the offense in order to try to get the win because we every T single coach does this they're like hey we need to get this guy the ball more this guy the ball more that guy the ball more if it needs to be Marvin mims in this game maybe we see some Marvin Mims I'd love to see that happen so um all right let's head over to the defensive side guys we only have about 19 minutes left in the show we need to talk about the defensive well let's start talk about that defensive front what we saw from that defensive front and how that's going to match up against this Steelers offensive front Trevor I want to start with you how do you feel about that uh Denver Bronco defensive front and the performance they put up against Seattle and how it matches up as we have the home game yeah I mean I think this I think the Steelers are going to run the ball I mean that's run they're gonna be running heavy team first they have Naji Harris that's a th yard uh running back they have on their side so their offensive line it's it's a little again kind of like the Broncos in a way this these both both these teams are kind of uh similar in some ways you know both kind of shaky offenses but the defense seems like you know they really do kind of come out to play um and kind of seem like their strengths as far as their teams wise but um yeah I mean again I like Zack you know Zack Allen I think Zack Allen and Jonathan Cooper are two guys in particular that I really like you know going up against the Steelers um you know offensive line and I really think that again you're going have to stop Naj Harris you know as much as we talk about the Steelers wanting B Knicks to maybe throw the ball a little bit more well how about Denver Broncos wanting Justin fields to throw the ball a little bit more again you have to worry about him in his legs though because he's he's one of those you know he's Elite you know rusher in my opinion one of those Elite rushing quarterbacks that you have to really watch out for um I think if you're the Denver Broncos you'd rather play Russa Wilson then Justin Fields just because of his legs um very athletic you have to keep him contained in the pocket make him make you make him beat you um if you if you're Advance Joseph and uh you know again hopefully the defense doesn't get worn out but I do like the Broncos defensive line match up against the Steelers offensive line and two names in particular to watch out for I think is Zack and Jonathan Cooper Jonathan Cooper definitely had his best game I think last Sunday against Seattle and I think I expect him to capitalize continue to capitalize on that going up against the Steelers offensive line all right I'll bring over to Jody on this one Jody how do you feel feel about this defensive line going up against the Pittsburgh offensive line um I like our defensive line I like our front seven as a whole um I think after the first couple quarters there were some guys on the defensive line that started trying to jump plays and Seattle caught him trying to jump into holes and different things and it caught them on some big runs if they maintain their gaps and do some thing you know stay disciplined I I really like our front seven um and that really helped our backend you know the more pressure you can get on them that helps the backend as well so I don't for the most part other than you know a handful of plays I thought they controlled the run and you know the defense I thought overall played well Sunday so I like it I like it um we have discrepancies coming in I wish I had my fact checking off to the side I promise we'll do it next time uh but Jordan's coming in and saying that Mims was only out there for 12 offensive plays not 52 so I was I was going to say that but I didn't know if grah had information I didn't so you know I wanted to yeah the 12 plays is ridiculous that's way too little sample size but yeah he's right Jordan is right thank you Jordan for shatting that out for us appreciate it man thanks Trevor for double checking that uh Duty I got to get back over to you though how do you feel about this uh this matchup that we we're talking about here at the defensive line versus the offensive line yeah I was pleasantly surprised U yeah I know I know we would be much much much better against the Run yeah there was only really one breakout play and I was from uh uh G Smith pretty much everything else was contained within yeah 11 yards at the most from the running backs so yeah I was really pleasantly surprised and uh they can bring the heat and it doesn't matter who is there as an edge they all work together very well we saw it happening any pretty much any combination they could bring the heat to the to the quarterback and about our all line and Bill Quinn Miners last year same thing happened the first game was not his best game but then he got and then he came back into into the game and then he became one of the the top five right guards and I think that will happen again getting back I was just going to say you're rewinding back to about like the first 10 minutes of the show getting back to the offensive line of the de Broncos but I I appreciate you pointing that out though man I mean you know let's not judge everything based on one week we if we would have done that last year we would have been unpleased with what uh with with what benching Quinn Miners you know what I mean that would have been that would have been crazy uh because he had a he had a almost an all pro season in my opinion last year so um this is the thing when it comes to this defensive line I think it could look a little bit different than what we saw last week uh I talked all summer long about how Vance Joseph is now flipped the switch and that this was an attacking defense we saw it right off the bat Gino Smith getting sacked Gino Smith getting pressured throwing up interceptions to Alex Singleton you can do that with Gino Smith you have to worry a little bit more when you're playing a guy like Justin Fields it would have been nice to honestly be going more up against Russell Wilson than it would be Justin fields in this particular scenario because you cannot let him break contain you cannot be Jonathan Cooper Baron Browning and lose the edge on a Justin Fields because if they've cleared out that side Justin Fields can run for miles miles so little bit different game that I think we might see from this defensive front comparatively to that Seattle game and don't don't I I guess what I'm saying Broncos country is I don't want you all jumping off going what happened to our defense they were so good last week look how many sacks and pressures they got up against Gino Smith I think that you need to play a little bit more uh responsibly when you go up against a guy against Justin like Justin Fields so don't don't be surprised if that pressure is just backed off a little bit in my opinion so um let's go ahead and like I said about 13 minutes left let's just wrap it all into one linebackers secondary we'll just lump it into one big pile guys I know that'll be probably a longer conver conversation from each one of you but we've got about 13 12 13 minutes left so Albert I want to start with you how did you feel like those linebackers those safeties those Corners did versus Seattle how does that translate when you start talking about the weapons that the Seattle sorry the Pittsburgh Steelers have as they come in to the mile high city I think I think Seattle has some more uh wide receiving weapons than than the Pittsburgh Steelers have like the um medcap and what is the other one again lock it lock it so yeah I think they're more of more of an threat um I I think our secondary will be much much yeah we'll have a little bit easier game because even PS2 got pressed a couple times um so yeah I I think it is going to be more of the B against the runs defense uh the middle linebackers The Edge I think that's what is going to be more of an re that we have to rely on than last game great awesome I love it I'm going to throw it a little bit differently to Jody these linebackers did very well I think in the Seattle game I think the secondary did pretty well in this in this game as they match up against the Steelers um one of the questions that pearls want to know is a do they play zone the other question I have is would you spy Justin fields on this game uh no probably not I like I thought how we played last week was good and Gino can run I mean he had one one run that was it really so I wouldn't okay now what I would do is there you go more thoughts I said uh PS2 I mean he locked down DK metap for the most part only had three catches Jal McLaughlin locked down Jackson Jack Smith a big b only had two catches give Riley Riley Moss played 100% of the snaps last week you got to give him some breaks give him some help Levi Wallace played three snaps um is he healthy is he not healthy what's the deal with him give you gotta step in there and find out if right there I I don't think Moss played bad but for his first start I mean Tyler Lockett was six for 77 yards had a huge catch right at the end um spell him a little bit see what Levi walls can do I'd like to see that a little bit nice nice uh well I'll give a little shout out just to Riley Moss before I turn over to Trevor I thought he did quite well uh especially going out there uh getting his first opportunities uh going up a guy up against a guy like Tyler Lockett and then not only that but he was making plays um for his teammates you know in this team in this game there was there was times that uh he was getting the tackle on on the guy that he wasn't lined up again so just put it that way um so uh Trevor when you start looking at this linebacking core this secondary these safeties and how they line up against Pittsburgh what are your thoughts Bud yeah I mean again I I think Pittsburgh's too biggest Playmakers on the offens side of the ball are George pickings and Naji Harris so I'm not overly concerned like I was last week against Seattle where you had lockit you had uh Jackson Smith and Nick jba and then you had you no you had multiple weapons on that side of the ball C Walker but with again with Pittsburgh you have two guys that I think you have to worry about no disrespect to everybody else Roman Wilson we don't even know if he's gonna play in this game that was their draft pick from this past year but you know there's really nobody else that really like you know coverage wise that I don't think that the secondary is gonna have to worry about I think it's just really stopping the Run Justin Field's making sure that you he doesn't get outside the pocket and he makes plays with his feet which is something that they Broncos struggled with last last week with Gino uh it's just again step it up more so this week with Justin Fields because he can take over a game we've seen that against Atlanta I watched that game and I and I've seen it firsthand that Justin Fields can take over a game a little bit with his feet and get them in uh you know in scoring position so I think you're gonna have to worry about two guys and I think that that's uh you know not not get no disrespect to everybody else but the rest those guys aren't just the playmakers that we see we seen last week in Seattle so um I think this week it's going to be about maybe stacking the Box against Pittsburgh stopping Nai Harris and making Justin Fields beat you with his arm I think that's should be the defense's goal uh this week against Pittsburgh I agree I agree 100% um don't get lost on the was that' be my biggest uh my biggest uh word of advice to this linebacking crew that I think Albert was the one who pointed out maybe it was Jody there was a couple times that they they were trying to jump holes and uh you know guessed wrong and um got caught against that Seattle defense that's not anything that you want to do against this Pittsburgh defense or Pittsburgh offense because honestly as great as Kenneth Walker is I think Nai Harris especially right now he came out running he came out running hard and I think they're gonna it's going to be formidable uh to go up against him and try to get that stopped right off the bat um if we can do that uh then this game can really play into our hands and be looking very good once again I think we could be looking at a very similar situation as we just got done with uh week one in Seattle and the way that we started out there uh Kenny by the way jumped in and he said he would spy uh Justin Fields he says the reason is he's dangerous on the run but in the pocket he is not so just a matter of trying to keep that guy located in the pocket having that spy on him every time he looks downfield he realizes he's not going to get away from him keeping him there that's Kenny's thoughts um and we might be able to do that because like you as I think all three of you point point out George pickings is by far probably the most formidable wide receiving Threat by far and then it falls off quite a bit from there I had a question do you guys think our two Acquisitions on in the in the backfield do you think Joon Brandon Jones and Cody Barton how do you think they played week one um let's do it this way if you were to I'll go around the horn give a grade for Brandon Jones give a grade for or um who is the other one I'm sorry Jody Cody Barton Cody Barton I'm sorry uh Albert Brandon Jones Cody Barton give grades on both I I would say that both of them are B minus I think they didus I think they did pretty pretty decent very good B minus across the board uh Trevor how would you uh how would you grade these guys oh you know I've been these are two guys that have been very critical on ever since Broncos acquired these two I I'm going to say I'm going to say see I don't think that these two really shut down anybody in my opinion I just still concerned about Brandon Jones the Miss tackles still an issue something I've seen on film as well um you know hopefully again against bigger threats wide receiver threats tight end threats there he might get exposed a little bit more you know in this week I think that it's pretty good it favors Broncos secondary I think in my opinion Riley Moss as well well but real quickly you know Cody Barton and uh Brandon Jones I think C for me I mean nothing too eye openening quite yet again hopefully they they will turn it around and they'll be I eye popping a little bit this season but up to this point I think they're about C in my opinion if I had to give a grade for both um I I'll give two different grades I'll go a C+ for Cody Barton I'll go a uh a straight B when it came to Brandon Jones thought Brandon Jones you has a couple missed opport ities but I thought he played pretty well in coverage uh Jody just your thoughts did you have any thoughts that popped off on both of those and then we'll got to get some final score predictions before we get out of here guys um I guess I'll kind of grade at both I think they both played decent I guess in the in coverage um we know F only had two catches I thought coverage wise for the most part we covered well so I think as a whole they did good there um there were some is in filling the hole you know Kenneth Walker got to the second level a few times and there was just no linebacker there um I don't know if that was I think that was more Barton than Singleton but and Brandon Jones both safeties they I mean both coming down and you know missing some tackles you know Shear that up and but coverage wise I thought they played but I can't complain coverage wise I mean I didn't see anyone go off at all in this game so fair enough um I'll start with you Jody uh we're almost right up at it three minutes left for the show uh final score prediction I I'll I'll throw him across the board Ernie Mays had a 2113 Broncos what are you thinking buddy I'm GNA go 2417 Denver um bonix gets his feet settled and that solves a lot of the problems and Shawn Payton will do something that he's stubborn to do and will run the football more than he wants to for once and I don't know a running back it's going to be but someone is either a Blake Watson I think or J Little M glin somebody is gonna you know have a big game running the ball in your final score prediction again I'm GNA write this down 247 Denver 2417 um I missed a quick question guys I want to get this because Phil dropped some stars and he had just a quick question do you think if PST shuts down his side Moss plays well pressure on fields equals turnovers do you think we see more uh turnovers especially when it comes to that secondary i' would say um what are your thoughts and just just get quick thoughts I'll go Jody Albert Trevor Jody what are your thoughts uh that's the plan but I I don't know only because Justin Fields played so conservative last week I think he's not going to throw into tight coverage he'll just run so I think it's gonna be hard it's going to be difficult though that's the plan Albert your thoughts I think uh the middle linebackers will get some uh interceptions uh because they will put the pressure on him and they will force fields into errors very good so maybe some opportunities there Trevor your thoughts yeah this I'm agreeing with Jody right now the Steelers offense is very conservative and I don't again this is going to be a close game that's what they're going to how they're going to want to play it I don't see them wanting to be too aggressive with the football uh again I think I expect them to be pretty run heavy I don't I don't think the Broncos going to get much of an opportunity to uh you know get a lot of turn turnovers unless na Harris or fields or somebody fumbles the ball but interceptions probably not all right talking is about close games uh Phil says it's 12 to 17 for him I'll Trevor I'll go to you I'll get your prediction next we'll end up with Albert and then me yeah I mean again when we did our season predictions I had this as a win but Shawn Payton's a play calling kind of set me back a little bit I thought he grew a little bit more from last season so I'm going to have this as a Steelers win 2110 Steelers I just again I think you know it's very concerned still about the play calling I need to see it from Shawn pton you know he's been here a year and then again you know we haven't seen much from him as far as wanting to adjust and so I got to see it from him in this offense I think bonick is still gonna need time uh and I we don't know what this offense you know as far as the running running the football is going to look like so uh I think I got to go give it to the Steelers you know they seem pretty healthy as well Devon V I think that'll be a pretty big uh Miss for B Knicks in this offense so for me 2110 Steelers taking a Steelers in this particular game but you know we're gonna be honest we're going to be critical but we're going to be hopeful because we all love the Broncos uh want to see it on the other side but the critical eye says it's going to be a Steelers win as far as Trevor's concerned Albert what does your what does your eyes tell you what are you thinking as far as this game is concerned I I have two predictions if Singleton stays healthy he's going to set a record in tackles and solo tackles and and combined tackles because that guy is a tackling machine and I think he will get a really nice opportunity this weekend to do it again and but I see if a win for the Broncos 2115 2115 Broncos as far as Albert sees it I like that Roy's kind of on that side with uh with Trevor he's calling for a 247 Steelers win in this one uh Pearl second time posting this I remember seeing this a little bit earlier she doesn't know what the exact score but she's saying Broncos by a field goal and she's putting her onion rings on it as well I'm just kidding uh we need so we need to hear about those onion rings uh make sure that those are cooking up Pearl those always get us some wins uh Jordan's coming in from uh YouTube thank you Jordan for coming in he says thanks for the show guys I predict Troy plays and it makes more it B more comfortable and they have a big game so he he's thinking a little bit of Troy Franklin magic is what's needed to kick this Broncos offense off would be interesting if that was the case you know it stranger things have happened and you know what all of a sudden something clicks something starts working and it becomes magic why not Troy Franklin Bone um boy I went back and forth on this game guys um I really thought that if they lost in Seattle it it could start a stretch it could start a run and I hate to do it to you Broncos country but I I think it's going to be a loss for the Broncos so it's going to be a heartbreaking loss I'm I'm calling a 1716 loss for the Broncos in this game and I'm hoping I'm hoping I'm um I know this is going to be a tough tight game it's going to be ground and pound based upon the score that I'm putting out there if we're not looking at a 31 to 28 type of game um it's going to be a difficult game I want to see I want to be proved wrong I want to see all the improvements that I I think this team is capable of because I think the low score that the Steelers are going to have of 17 points could hold and if this Broncos offense gets moving that they can the Run game gets going those receivers start getting activated in this offense we could be looking at a 3117 game but I'm just saying right now until as Trevor said until I see it I'm say a close loss a close loss for the Broncos 176 for me so hate to end that way that I have a quick question yeah everyone keeps everyone's saying we got to lean on the Run game how short of a lease does javant Williams have Sunday before you finally say okay it's on to the next you know we're really committed to if you know if we're pounding The Rock and it's one two yards and yeah it's not there how long before Payton switches something up th this is my thought and I I I'll say it again I don't think this offensive line played to the point that any of those running backs did necessarily well even if you look at estim he had one 12 yard run and a fumble and two- yard run um that's nothing of consistency the two yard run was more con consistent with what we saw and it's not because all three of these running backs are bad it's because that offensive line didn't give the opportunity there I think if the opportunity is there and we start seeing javante just not being able to do it then yeah we need to be pretty quick we have a stacked room Trevor your thoughts before we get out of here yeah I just I I think that you need to kind of play it by ear and kind of see you know with your eyes is is javante missing holes I've seen that he missed a couple holes and he fell down in Seattle which again that g that would have on that first drive when when Singleton got the turnover that would have been a touchdown an easy touchdown he would have walked in and he slipped and fell so it's one of those things where I again where that happens give javante another game and let's see what happens he didn't get a lot of snaps after he made some mistakes in Seattle you know he kind of got a snap count back tuned back a little bit um so you know we we shall see I think pton needs to be a little bit more quicker to adjust to to the game I think his adjustment have been too slow and so if if javante isn't seeing you know the offensive Line's getting some push and javante isn't seeing the holes that are there then let's get jalum ml in there again and or you know maybe Blake Watson just somebody else in there but Shawn Payton's gota be quicker with making you know getting some of these guys out of there if it's not working instead of waiting a whole game and then we see a change you know it's just one of those things where um you have to kind of see it you know in game and and make those ing game adjustments I think Shawn Payton struggled with that up to this point Albert what are your thoughts man is are is are you ready to move on from javante and if not what pulls that plug for you and how soon would that be if if it doesn't work this weekend I don't think we should we should move on from jonte because I believe I do believe that jonte is way more in him than than he shows right now but it also relies back on champ Payton he has to be a little bit more Innovative and thinking and thinking out of the box and coming up with a different plan because pretty much every rushing attack is pretty much similar it is very predictable and I think that's where the the the change need to come from John Payton and his planning fair enough fair enough not ready to pull the plug I'm not like I said I'm not ready to pull the plug until I see a little bit better offensive line play I'm going to get over to Zeke Zeke has came in a couple times with this comment and Zeke we appr appreciate everybody and obviously Zeke sounds like he's a Steelers fan and we appreciate Steelers fans you come in here you're respectable and respectful and uh come in here and great have a great conversation let's let's talk some football let's chop it up and he's coming in here right at the end he's saying the score for him is 7 to 24 Pittsburgh with a win and that includes Justin Fields having a rushing touchdown so you know like I said I'm I'm putting up 16 points if you do the math on that really I'm talking about a touchdown and three field goals um I'm not that far off from what you're talking about Zeke um I understand it is going to be a tough game the 24 might be interesting to try to get all those points racked up na Harris I think is gonna have to have a day because I don't know if George Pickins is going to be able to get it done for you but we'll find out make sure that you catch us we go post game right after the game uh right here on the Rocky Mountain Sports Network and Denver Bronco Roundup as well guys we got to get out of here uh I love all the comments all the conversation uh but let's say some good some goodbyes and some good nights and I'll start off with Jody um I'm looking to see what bonex does week two um I've said it multiple times T I get your feet settled that's where it all starts for him um and that will fix a lot of the accuracy issues I want to see this run game get going and I want to see two three four deep shots I just want to see I don't even care if you connect but get back get these guys out of the box and stuff and back them up a little bit that will help everything and I want to see this Old Line play better than it did last week you're paying them a crap ton of money and they didn't play very well last week sea Payton said that um if all that happens um this D played well enough that you can win a lot of games this year if it clicks Paul's uh smacking back a little bit saying 247 including a b Nicks rushing touchdown um you know could go that way too it could go that way too and hey B Nick scored a touchdown in preseason if I remember correctly by rushing it in so you know not outside the outside the realm of possibilities um Albert you want to say some good night for us absolutely Bon ni is going to correct his mistakes that he uh that he had last Sunday he is a probably a little bit more accustomed now to the speed of the game I think that is and we will see a little bit of a different bonck and uh posy thank you for being in there because it's we have your comments and your reactions and it makes it is wonderful to see all of that and the activity in in chat that is so nice to see and we want to thank Ernie Pearl Roy Scott Kenny Clayton Phil Kendrick Lamar who was a new new person that we saw in for the first time then we had dck Martin lyanna sis was in there Michelle my lovely wife Graham Jordan was a new new name in the chat Paul and thanks Zeke for being there as well uh you you make our life so much more interesting and easier thank you thank you for being there all right and then we'll rock it right up to the top Corner Trevor what do you got to say before we get out of here buddy yeah I just quickly you when I said you know javante kind of got pulled you know his snap count kind of got pulled back a little bit last game J McGloin actually got more carries and Javonte Williams in Seattle so it's something that maybe that's where they're turning to who knows I think they give javante some time um before they pull him I'm not ready to you know pull the plug on javante quite yeah I want to give him a little bit of time and give this this offense a little bit of time to grow and that's that includes B Knicks but um no again you know I just want to see what Shawn pyton can do you know don't get out coached again you know you got C out coached by Mike McDonald and that's the first time head coach in his first game um you know there's been a little bit of heat on Tom pton this week from various media Outlets you know around around Denver so uh you know and just just in general so you know it prove him wrong I mean go out there and you know out scheme and out outperform you know the Steelers and and and don't get out coached by Mike Tomlin I though it's easier said than D Mike Tom is one of the best head coaches out there in the NFL but you know it's one of those things with Shawn Payton just like you know it's time you know you have your quarterback in place uh you got to see something more more growth from this offense I want to balance attack you know I want to put bonx in the best position to be successful and this offens line all your players um you know again with Jody I agree with him this defense is good enough to keep this team uh you know in in it and and again I love what I'm seeing from Jonathan Cooper and from Zack Allen so uh I think you know I kind of want to leave on that on a positive note watch for those two on Sunday because I think those two are G to make a difference and and probably going to be in Justin Fields face a little bit uh but I quickly want to shout out our Roundup royalty everybody in the chat really appreciate you Steelers Broncos fans everybody again you guys are everybody's welcome uh you guys you know again Steelers fans respectful so it's great to see that as well as always and uh you know we'll be here to break it down once again here on Sunday and uh appreciate everybody appreciate you guys being here when I when I couldn't be here earlier and uh you know I hope everybody has a great great safe weekend enjoy the game and uh we'll see you next time go Broncos yeah Ro's going to wrap us up one last comment saying
