big Lesar League an all rugby league experience hello welcome back to Big Lesar league in all rugby league experience I'm your host big Les let's go through your Friday the spoon ball the Tigers the eels going into the rubos roosters Clash now the roosters resting a few players as well we'll talk about that in a second but uh tigers and Eels the spoon bow 6 p.m. uh the eels are the favorites here the $166 to the Tigers $223 let's go through uh the sides and the changes there are a few here for the Tigers as we get closer and closer to kickoff it looks like Aiden Caesar uh he will be resting up for the rest of the year latu finu goes into the number seven and you know I don't really mind this change at all and the reason I don't mind it as well is because you're sort of just trying things out for next year I think it's going to be pretty obvious uh that it's going to be Galvin and L in the halves going into 2025 but it is good to just to get these younger guys some reps so then if there are injuries uh you know going into next year L is going to be the first guy that comes in Jaden Sullivan's going to be the first guy that comes in you got plenty of young halves uh in this squad so it's good to get those younger guys some reps latu finu coming in after a big performance the last time he came into first grade as well very very happy to see it we also do see Tony sukka come into the side as well and jersey number 22 I believe he played one or two games earlier on in the year but he comes back I believe his third or fourth game of the season in terms of the other ins and outs here Solomon alaro he drops out due to concussion protocols we see Josh Fetti go into the side in the centers we see Junior tupo get pushed out to the wing as for the Paramount reels Kell mat toi and sha Russell return into the side we see Kell maty return via the starting back row and then obviously off Ogden goes to the bench and we see Jake Tango move to the extended side so he comes out of the team Dan keier is also out of this lineup as well uh in terms of who I think wins this one I honestly I don't wouldn't be surprised at all if the Tigers win wouldn't shock me at all if the Tigers win to be honest at home at Campbell toown Sports ground they've been having some decent games here and there throughout the season they've had some really surprising wins throughout the season as well wouldn't shock me if they win and you know what I'm going to stick get behind the Tigers I'm going to get the hunt behind the Tigers cuz this will be the third wooden spoon in a row for them if they go ahead to get The Wooden Spoon here I think that they're going to be very aware of that I think Benji is going to fire them up for this game and I think they're going to be right up for the contest and I also think that you know defens it isn't really going to be a big issue in this game it is going to be a highsc scoring contest don't get me wrong there's going to be plenty of points in this game both sides can SC score points quite well on their edges so I think there's going to be a lot of points in the game but I think the Tigers can get the job done here if they play the right footy it's a very inexperienced side which I think is going to hurt them a little bit and look if the eels win the eels win and I'll take the licks there but I'm going to go to the Tigers I'm going to back them I think Benji is going to get them up for this game I love an underdog and I think that the tigers are going to be the right team to back here to get at at Campbell Town Sports ground which which means that if the Tigers do win the Paramount reels will go from being in a grand final 2 years ago to dropping out of finals last year to now being The Wooden Spoon team in 17th position as well which would be absolutely diabolical a hectic way to end their season uh so for me I am going to take the West Tigers uh in terms of how this game is going to be won I said it I look defense isn't going to be a big issue in this game both of these sides are very for defensively on their edges this season you know constantly changing up combinations in the backline particularly for the West Tigers but as well here throughout the season for the Paramount reels you mean you look at how many times the wing pairing has changed Maro has been out of the side for a while only just coming back over the last few weeks uh Russell's been in the centers and on the wing you know Tang's only really just solidified a spot there in the centers um the only consistent guy I think in his backline has been will penini and Clint gson so um yeah look there's been plenty of changes to these sides in terms of the rotation even you know in the middle of the park as well between hands and lassik they've had plenty of swaps throughout the year um you know terms of the middle rotation as well I think that having Paul out has hurt the eels through the middle too uh some big games this season um not having that link man through the middle which we spoke about on a number of occasions to in games that they've lost this year paramala what is making you know a determinant as to why they're losing games we'll sort of get it get into it in the season review but I think a big part of you know what's hurting par matter a little bit is they suit a very fast style of play and a very expansive style of play and to play that sort of football these days you need a lock forward that can move the ball to the edges and get the ball to the edges quite quickly you need a link man in 13 they're playing with three front rowers at the moment um and look as I've said I've been saying it for a number of weeks you've got sha Lane there in the front row move him to lock make him play that ball playing role cuz we know he's got an offload on him we know he's got hands on him um so make him play that role or put him in that position to play that role uh rather than just having him running straight lines through the middle but I think as well for Shawn Lane lots of injuries throughout the past two years I think they're just trying to get him back to playing consistent football getting the Reps in for him and then next year worrying about what role he's going to be playing in this side um but I think that uh you got to get him in a position where he can have an impact on the game too and I think that as I said to um in order to for the eels to get to the ball to their edges quite quickly and just for their their style of Play to work better um and you know for it to be executed better I should say they need that L link man 13 they need that link man 13 and I think Shan Lane could be that guy for the last game if they want to change that and make him that sort of player uh but as I said they haven't had that link man Alpha hand G as a genuine front rower you know rean Kimel gillard's the same um as for the Tigers uh look as I said defensive combinations on edges we've spoken about it a number of times this year uh and as I said we'll get into all the juicy stuff in the review the season review which will be after the Grand Final as I said in a previous podcast we will have a week break of the podcast uh in that stage I just re reposting a few interviews that we've had last offseason we organizing as well some interviews going into this off season I've already got two guests lined up you probably guessed with the clues that I've given you on the YouTube and on the Spotify who those two might be no more clues you guys will have to wait and see who those are but uh we've got some great content lined up I've got a guest host coming to help me with the season reviews as well uh some great content lined up for you guys and we'll get into all of the juicy stuff as I said in those season reviews but um for the Tigers as well the the side has just changed a lot there hasn't been a real consistent team um and look the only guy I think that's again he that's really been consistent in this lineup has been Lan galin really in the number six he's been probably the most consistent guy in this lineup everyone else has pretty much chopped and changed around you know even happy corcia has gone into the halfback Jersey a few times this year so um I think for the next year for the Tigers it's just going to be about working on some consistency but um look I think they' got a young Sparky side in this game that can create a lot of havoc and obviously generate a lot of Point we've seen that lucky galvin's going to have a big game to end the year I can just say it um so for me I going to take the West Tigers the only thing I think that hurts them for me is not having a 14 to cover a borusa Off the Bench uh and I don't even have one really in the reserves Alex lob is the 18th man and he's an outside back so that worries me a little bit um but yeah we'll have to wait and see obviously how that works and what happens there I'm pretty shocked that talenter Silva isn't even in the reserves Le there to come into this side but for me I'm going to take the underdog I'm taking the Tigers to get the job done I know it's the less obvious answer I love an underdog though haven't taken an underdog in the past few weeks and it's actually hurt my tipping a little bit so uh taking the Tigers I'm also going to be taking Junior tupo to score a try along with Dylan Brown give me Dylan Brown to add add a bit of value there with the Tigers to win all of the odds will be on the Instagram so get stuck into those um roosters rubos look it's going to be an interesting game obviously uh The Roosters resting a few guys Brandon Smith and Sam Walker out for the season ACLS it hurts their finals uh chances and how they're going to go in finals but also hurts them as a grand final Contender I don't think the roosters make a grand final now with this loss um Victor rudley apparently is going to be trying to play over the next few weeks he's been ruled out for the season with a broken shoulder but it sounds like he's going to be taking in jections and trying to get back as to how much truth there is to that I'm not too sure but the word on the street is that he will be trying to get back um into this side come finals time so we'll have to wait and see on that mass changes here for the roosters we do see sandon Smith going to seven Connor Watson into nine we see nefu white com to the 13 Jersey de SV obviously the big number 16 coming into the team uh that was a uh change on team this Tuesday but another 19-year-old here in Blake steep also joins the rotation D LEL will speak on him just quickly uh he came to marelin in u12 with myself in my U group we played a grade together won a comp together for a grade marelin as well uh probably one of the nicer blocks you'll ever me came over from Queensland in year 12 I believe got a scholarship when he signed with the roosters uh not sure as to what team he was with before that uh but he did obviously uh come over to the roosters very highly touted they spoke very highly of him in that system played some great footy uh in the lower grades too and then obviously was scouted out by those roosters guys as a guy that is ready all close to being ready for first grade uh obviously went from Jersey flag straight to New South Wales Cup this year impressed so much he played obviously New South Wales under n impressed there as well just a big guy strong in contact quick play the balls very mobile for his size uh has a bit of an offload on him as well he has so many layers to his game I can't wait for him to get his opportunity I joke and laugh with him about the headgear thing in the under 19s origin game uh but you look he is probably as I said one of the nicer guys you ever meet and the only reason I joke with him a little bit is because um you know he is the nicest guy and I'm not going to be scared for that he's going to come after me um if I piss him off a little bit but uh look D larell he is a legend he deserves this I cannot wait to see how he goes in jersey number 16 there against the rabitos what a game to come in to this side as well um I think that he's going to kill it I think he's going to be a guy that's going to be in and around the side as well going into next year obviously with Jared leaving definitely want to watch here de SVA a player of the future he's got a brother as well in the squad Xavier vaja um who is an absolute Legend as well obviously played at the start of the year I believe broke his leg at the start of the Year Xavier in the trial and then obviously was out for a little wild just slowly came back over the past few weeks to New South WS cup but both of them are very good de cell for me is better and look I think a lot of roosters fans and a lot of people that I've spoken to would agree on that uh definitely want to watch Here deel Blake steep we've seen him already in first grade tough competitor tackles Galore these two are going to be absolute weapons for the Sydney roosters um look let's talk about as well Mark noongar comes into the side on the wing for Dom young Dom young looks to be rested this week uh Mark dongar obviously very talented Rugby Union player uh played on the wing for the Wes and also for the warar if you don't catch a lot of Rugby Union he was a warar uh as well as a wabby um you know played some really great football uh signed over to come over to rugby league it's funny he was on a interview with ice um Isaac John on his podcast with Sporting News um and they were sort of talking about you know would he ever come over to rugby league and he sort of didn't really answer the question properly and it sort of left you to speculate on your own is this guy going to be able to is this guy coming over to first grade is this guy going to be coming over and playing uh you know NRL is he going to be coming to the NRL sort of made you beg the question and then obviously uh signs with the Sydney roosters and now he's getting his opportunity on the wing and look I've been speaking to a few people that go out to watch the New South Wales Cup games and a lot of people are still a bit curious on his defense and he's just sort of still trying to work out the game but in saying that he's scoring every week too so um you know for a guy to come over from a completely different sport with a lot of different rules and and really start to get the game quite easily you know obviously not coming off his wing too much which is nice obviously in Rugby Union you come off your wing you're sort of like a second 58 uh coming around trying to get involved kicking stuff like that in Rugby Union as a Winger uh you know obviously staying on his wing just playing his role perfectly simplifying simplifying his role uh very very well and scoring every week as I said uh he's obviously getting the game quite quick but defensively he's definitely going to be one to watch there next to Joseph Manu attacking wise for me there's no concern I think that Manu is going to be setting up him up for tries all night uh so definitely want to watch their Market no long T say um I'm I'm pretty hesitant to take the abidos I I look I think it's just too many losses now whon coming out of the side as well Fletcher Meyers uh he also drops out of the team for Richie Kenna who plays his 50th game it's a long way that he's had to go to get there been around a few clubs but he finally gets his opportunity to get that 50th game locked in we also have two other Milestone men for the rabitos Sha key plays his 100th game and civa havil plays game number 150 um you look in saying that look tyan Monro is going to be one to handle there for the roosters and running up against mark noas say we soke about the defense there for mikas still trying to fix those defensive patterns in his game just watching him in New South WS cup uh Tyron Monroe I think he's going to exploit him I think that battle will be very nice to watch other than that for me uh look Dean Hawkins kicking game two is going to be great I just think that the roosters you know they're going to want to make a statement before finals yes they're resting a few guys but especially after losing key guys as well in Sam Walker Brandon Smith they want to prove that they are still in the race for a Grand Final I think we're going to see that from The Roosters in this game uh a120 favorit and that's for a reason I'm taking the Sydney roosters there to get the job done as much as it hurts me uh roosters to win Angus kryon to score along with and then by the way the Angus kryon in Keon kangy battle is going to be unreal but Angus kryon to score for me I'm also going to be taking for the rabitos I'm going to go with Tyron Monro Monro and Angus Kon to score with the roosters to win um it's going to be a strong battle through the middle lenu and moale uh going at it as well Burgess within his last game as a South Sydney rabido going up against Terrell May Cookie has his last uh rabido game as well he did say during the week that he is going to probably come back to South Sydney in a coaching capacity which was nice to see Callis Duncan uh wearing the number Famous number eight Jersey there for Ronnie cot uh Darren Brown was sort of explained as well on the podcast for Rose radio and just you know Reminiscing on the old days where the lock forwards will wear the number eight the hookers would wear the number 12 there was a few different numberings back then um but yeah look it was a cool to get a bit of insight just as to the numbering there and why Talis Duncan is wearing that famous number eight it's the eight that running coot war and we're obviously you know looking at him uh and looking back at his career as well in this game obviously played for rabido and roosters we honoring his memory um not to say that he's passed away or anything but honoring his memory as in looking back at his wonderful career and uh you know respecting it as well he's an immortal he's done some great things in the game uh you know we're just cherishing his career that he's had as well uh in this game rabitos V roosters roosters to win as I said Monro and Angus kryon to score but please please remember what are you really gambling with for three uh and confidential
