afternoon uh man what a thriller uh crazy crazy crazy crazy ride um a lot of emotions on the sideline I can only imagine what the emotions like as you all were watching on the tube um but you know you look at it and you know that type of win uh created a lot of defining moments for our football team and who we are and you know what our culture is all about who our true identity is and you know we're going to find ways to win those gritty you know up and down how can we continue to find ways to stay neutral through it all uh type games and uh you know there were a lot of don't blink don't Flinch moments for us and uh guys confidence never wavered uh you know we lose jiren Hall the second offensive driver of the game and you know it's always kind of that next man next man up mentality for us and you know you get Josh dos who just stepped foot in the building uh to go out and find a way to to lead lead to lead lead our team to Victory and you know here we are stack in four wins in a row now uh excited to get back to US Bank to where you know we haven't had great success uh and that's something that we got to turn the tide on there uh because that's what our fans deserve is they bring unbelievable energy uh got a tough opponent coming in in New Orleans Saints uh it's going to be a hard fought battle uh but guys are up to it and excited about the opportunity guys obviously needed all the Greg's kicks um what have you learned in the couple years here just about how he bounces back and rebounds from whatever moments may come yeah huge huge huge day for Greg uh going three for three on the field goals and the two for two for p combin it for 11 points there uh but that's just that's just who Greg is uh you know had a great talk with him during the week and again he's always biting that the bit to get back to it um just kind of truly trust himself uh really has an unwavering confidence about himself uh and how he goes about it week in and week out uh you know quite frankly we've we've grown this trust now to where I can be transparent with him and he can be transparent with me and we got we do a great job of communicating with one another uh those and you know like I said that 42 yard you know Green Mayfield go those are just musthave uh situations you know kicks that we just have to make um there's no excuses or anything about that and so you know Greg takes that and he understands that he has high expectations for himself uh but you know his confidence never waivers uh you know he can miss one he'll come right back and feel just good about hitting that one as he did the previous one um so uh he's in a great spot this week uh we did a great job with the operation had a lot of moving Parts with Dara being down some guys had to step in and you know it takes the whole unit from the snap to the hold um and most importantly to the guys up front protecting and they did a great job of doing that what does that transparency look like when you're talking about just that trust felt over time yeah you know I think I think it kind of boils down uh you know let's being honest with ourselves on was it a good good hit you know what was the reason behind missing it uh you know was the operation clean you know not trying to throw anybody under the bus but we want to make sure that we're holding each other accountable and and making sure that we're getting the very best out of you know each and every individual that's that's part of that unit there and so we got to make sure we have a good understanding of you know what the issue might have been you know that causes these misses or how can we get them fixed you know it's it's hard to fix issues if everything was all you know it felt good off the foot or Everything clean operation I just missed it you know that's that's just not good enough there has to be a reason why and so it's important that we we able to kind of figure out what that is how much better have you gotten at having those conversations with the over the course of your career yeah really good uh it's a good question there Dan because there's some kickers you know that that don't want you to same anything to him and so you you have to know it's it's on an individual basis at the end of the day understanding and knowing who that kicker is and what his approach is and how he likes to go about it uh you know you got some kickers that want you to doll cuss them out other kickers that don't want you to say anything to them at all especially during the game as they're kind of in that zone and in that mode and so now you know going into year two with Greg it's important that we continue to to build that Rapport and build that that communication uh uh we kind of gotten to that point now there where there's a full-on trust and true transparency on you know how he wants me to approach him and you know just what's the best way I can get the most out of him you know in terms of how he wants me to coach him I'm sure commun Union could you hear any of what was going on with the offensive headsets and yes yes I could yes I could so typically what I do is is I try to flip back and forth between um whichever unit is up whether it's defense or offense and in between if there's any dead time I'll hop back over to be able to talk to my assistant uh because I have to always be kind of in constant communication with the defensive coordinator and letting them know kind of what the line is for their kicker or you know knowing what type of situation we're in from my offensive standpoint I went four down we'll be puning here uh you know what's the line we got to get to for Greg to feel good about you know going out to try attempt for a field goal and so uh yeah I was on the offensive uh headset and there was a a lot lot a lot of communication going on as you all can imagine uh with a guy who just Ste foot in the building 3 days ago and now he's has a find a way to you know call plays figure out you know where guys are even aligning at emotion shifts uh cadences as you all have heard about um so it was unbelievable job by you know the entire offensive staff uh you know from offensive line too Chris Cooper the um Chris O'Hare quarterback coach gr y desk the assistant uh you know KO and West every it was a fullon you know assort of offensive guys just coming together and finding ways to put this guy in the best best situation or Force find find ways to win stands out most about what you heard from Kevin and his communication I think the biggest thing is is is the Poise that he had and how he was communicating to a Dos uh you know really being on top of getting the play in early just so has a little bit of time to kind of explain to him what the canis is what type of look he might have to expect uh you know that's all happening because the headset's cut off at right around 15 seconds and so he's trying to get the call in early enough so that dogs can communicate the call to the Huddle but now he can kind of be able to provide him with some little tidbit Spark Notes on kind of what the the lay of the land looks like how to basically paint the picture for him just to give him the best opportunity to go out there and execute the play at a high level level just to be a part of that I mean like in the moment it was I I can't even describe I I haven't been a part of anything like this as I don't know in the history of NFL if this is something that's been done before or uh but a huge credit to Josh dos you know everyone has talked about you know how smart of an individual he is and how quickly he can uh basically regurgitate and put together a Playbook uh you know for him to be able to go out and you know go eight 30 or 20 or 30 or whatever it was uh you know says a lot to his preparation says a lot uh to the the coaching staff uh to get him prepared and ready uh but again the Poise that that KO had you know the entire offensive coaching staff and even the offensive uh unit you know to really back him uh stay confident in him and give him a comfortability in the Huddle uh that he needed you know hostile environment on the the road it's not easy to go do that you mentioned um knowing some of the guest nicknames and S names but uh you know your your presence and stature is uh established with nicknames what what one have you bestowed on him given that there's a few floating around now I don't know I haven't there's some there's some names floating around I haven't had an opportunity to kind as not as not yeah I like that let's stick to thatti a couple minutes ago was talking about Jordan and just his impression Jordan what what he's meant to this team I don't know how much he sits in the special team but just what have what do you think Jay Hicks is um he does sit in the special team meeting uh typically he comes in on Fridays and I mean you want to talk about uh a true leader uh guy out in front of the group does a great job of communicating to the guys uh you know he's working with a a really young core of linebackers uh you know you look at Brian aen and Ivan Pace um it's it's just a lot of good guys in that room and and he's at the helm of it you know through thick and thin uh I think the biggest thing is is because we are such a Czech with me type of Defense uh a Green Dot like J like Josh like Jordan uh gives there's a a lot of autonomy that goes into the defense and that's because of how smart of an individual uh Jordan Hicks is how much of a command he has for the defense how much trust Flo has in him to get the defense in the right call get guys aligned uh in the instance based off of you know shifts motions uh formations uh just it's it's just a true credit to to how much of a pro uh Jordan Hicks is and you know it's a great example for these young guys that's coming up behind them Houston had their running back kicked the ball man who's your emergency kicker the emergency kicker is Mr R we don't have any skill skill players that can that can kick to my knowledge at least the emergency holder would be Speedy yeah Jaylen Naylor is they backup holder so never know never know week yeah you never know never know hold your breath appreciate y'all
