spotted Garden eels spend most of their lives anchored in the sand only peeking out to feed on Plankton they live in colonies that can stretch for hundreds of meters creating a mesmerizing underwater Garden each Garden eel has its own burrow which it digs using its tail and they're not just hiding they're keeping an eye out for Predators while staying close to their food source when they feel safe Garden eels extend their bodies almost fully out of their Burrows but if danger approaches they can disappear into the sand in the blink of an eye these eels are incredibly territorial they position cells just far enough apart to avoid any turf wars while maximizing their feeding space
