Cleveland weather: Hot and humid on Tuesday with scattered storms

It does. And let's talk about this weather because that might be a little frightening as well to some degree. We haven't seen this kind of heat all season. I know. Yeah, quite, quite a bit of sunshine that was out there today and, uh, looks like clear skies. And I mean, last week, Betsy, we were talking about like, you know, temperatures in the sixties and then ever since then it's just sort of climbed its way up until tomorrow, it sounds like we had a little bit of the air conditioning. So Mother Nature provided. Now she's reminding us we really don't have, uh, the end of fall anytime soon. We are very much still in the thick of things. With the summer season we're sitting right now in the upper eighties to right around 90 in northeast Ohio, we will slowly see the mercury sliding back into the low eighties. And then after the sun sets, the temperatures are gonna drop back into the seventies, but the humidity will stay with us and that sets up our weather impact alert day for tomorrow because just as much as we have the humidity today, tomorrow, it will be even hotter and that's gonna push the heat index even higher. We also just to put another layer on our cake are expecting storms late tomorrow night. That could be strong to severe. So plenty going on. Now, as far as tomorrow, the heat index will be pushing the 100 degree mark in much of northern Ohio right now, it looks like our peak heat indices will be over 100 degrees, especially west of Cleveland. Then we're gonna bring in that chance for the overnight thunderstorms and those could provide some very heavy downpours and maybe some wind gusts so we could have some power outages. So if you have anything that you really have to wake up for and set the alarm for, for Wednesday morning, you're really gonna have to pay attention. You're gonna need to set that alarm on a battery back up. So our heat advisory for tomorrow has been issued for Lorraine for Ashland, Erie Huron and Richland counties and then points farther west. It doesn't mean that it won't be hot anywhere else. That basically means they will be peaking. Uh That is where our peak heat index will be. It will be in western portions of Ohio. Those heat alerts extend all the way back into the central plains and you can also see some severe thunderstorm watch boxes. That's a little bit of a harbinger of what's to come tomorrow night. Now, the whole reason all this is happening is a heat dome, big bubble of hot air sitting in the atmosphere and you could see where the hottest temperatures are. Minneapolis has a heat index right now. At 101, Kansas City feels like 105. Chicago showed you at the top of the hour. Feels like 103 that's coming our way. So we have not only tomorrow but it's also gonna be very warm on Wednesday and around that heat dome, you can see where the peak temperatures are. Look what the rain and thunderstorms do. They move around it where we have that collision of air masses. Sometimes the upper level winds will begin to speed up and that can help to pop thunderstorms. Those thunderstorm complexes then will feed off of all the heat and humidity and begin to race eastward and that's where our thunderstorm chances for tomorrow night will come from. So we're kind of trying to set things up a little bit for you. Let me give you the big picture forecast. First heat dome sits right here, of course, in the overnight hours, the heat will abate but you can kind of see where the thunderstorm chances are farther off to the north of us. So I don't think we have to worry about thunderstorms tonight. Tomorrow afternoon, the heat dome moves just a little bit farther east. So it kind of kisses in the western sections of Ohio and now you can see that next big thunderstorm complex that kind of starts to rear its ugly head. By tomorrow afternoon and evening, the heat dome begins to sink south just a little bit and that opens the door for those thunderstorms to come our direction tomorrow night. In the meantime, our three news weather impact alert day for tomorrow will get started actually tonight because the temperatures won't be dropping back all that much National design. Our hour by hour forecast shows is still well into the eighties through the rest of the evening, Guardian is gonna be a hot one tonight, but it should be a nice night. Otherwise, temperatures to be in the seventies by nine pm. And tomorrow morning, inland areas will be in the sixties, but we'll still be in the seventies in most of the city areas, partly cloudy skies will greet you as you get the day going. But look what happens once the sun comes up. These are your 9 a.m. temperatures watch what happens by noon. We're already up around 90 degrees. We may have an isolated thunderstorm throughout tomorrow afternoon. But right now after our peak heat index, temperatures up near the 100 degree mark mid to late afternoon tomorrow evening. Let me get this thunderstorm complex in here. I'm gonna fast forward. There you go. There's midnight. Now you're starting to see those thunderstorms come through and in the early morning of Wednesday, that's when that big batch of thunderstorms will be coming in. So it's kind of two fold. It's not just the heat tomorrow, although that is definitely the top story in your union home mortgage forecast. That's why we have the weather impact alert day, but tomorrow night's thunderstorms will lead to uh, eventual clearing later in the day. On Wednesday, we stay hot and humid all the way through Friday. It's not until we start Labor Day weekend that really, we start to see the heat and humidity subside. And right now the weekend is not looking too bad for us at all. So, if you have any outdoor plans, maybe early Saturday morning, I'd say that's the only time we could really have any rain. But the rest of the weekend looks pretty good. Ok. Hey, we like that. We like to be able to look past this and we'll take it. Thank you, Betsy.
