2024 Penn State Nittany Lions Team Preview

what is going on everyone welcome to another episode of 100 yards of football Sports Talk Radio I'm your host and producer Logan Landers and join me here today talk about the Penn State nitty Lions 2024 team preview is my guy from The Elite Sports and Entertainment Network Jay McLovin Jay how you doing this afternoon my friend and uh what do you think of Penn State coming in in 20124 very very interesting team who can maybe make a Deep Run yeah you know you James Franklin over there doing his job I think it's what 11th season over at Penn State you know he he had a good season 10 and three but he did lose the Peach Bowl last year over there um and he is he is in a a big conference I think he's in the they're in the Big 10 now or Big 12 whatever they're calling themselves over there you know so he's gonna he's going to have some some pretty big competition to have to deal with this year um strength of schedule I think they're giving him like number seventh uh right now in the league is where he's sitting at so he's got a pretty tough schedule they're projected what8 to nine wins uh for this guy uh they given him 11% chance to win um to win the big to win the Big 10 11% I I can see that I can see that I mean but I think I think I mean obviously I think it's this stus to Ohio or one of those guys but I can see Penn State trying to make it difficult for him uh you know the strength of this team Logan obviously is their defense um I think they get seven top five guys that are coming back um s they got the saie Winston over there he's a junior Kevin Winston he's putting pretty well over there as well so I think that defense is going to be their strength I think their weakness though is going to be dead uh was it drew I hope I say his name right Drew Aller Aller okay I say allair but yeah all Drew I mean you know he just have a Supporting Cast right I mean he got a great quarterback over there they're like 61st and pass blocking 73rd uh in receptions in the game so this team doesn't have the greatest of stats um to to really put around him that's why I don't know how I think they get maybe nine wins because their schedule is not the strongest of schedules I mean it's a fairly decent schedule um but can can him and single and the running back can air and and excuse me Singleton get it done up C excuse me yeah we we'll we'll see what happens with them but the thing that I kind of worries me a little bit about this team um I'm not saying it's like press the the panic button or anything like that um but something to definitely watch out for is as you said Jay it's on that offense and and this team you have a good quarterback right your running backs are looking Sol also but I'm looking at the big guys up front because you have lost a lot of Talent on the line three starters perhaps and that is going to be Olu Fano Kaden Wallace and Hunter NORAD all three of those gentlemen are now playing in the National Football League first time that's happened for three lineman Jay since the 96 so it's been a minute uh so they're o line wiped out wiped out um but I think the offense I like the addition of Fleming on the wide receiver spot him coming over from the Ohio state is a good pickup you mentioned Kate and Saunders uh really solid player as well and the thing about this team is you said it's going to be the defense and I believe that wholeheartedly as well but what kind of version of the defense are we going to get we know they have some tremendous Talent Devon J Thomas hem Bean as well uh ju Justin name a couple of course you have your guys there in the corners uh AJ Harris Jaylen Reed doing some good work came with Kevin Winston Jr but I look back at last season Jay and I mean honestly this is something you could say for Penn State in recent years maybe since James Franklin took over and that is the big games last year in 2023 Jay they look great except you lost to number three Ohio State you lost to number three at time Michigan and like you mentioned in the Peach Bowl they gave up 38 points to the Old Miss Rebels a talented team don't get me wrong but that's the most they gave up in a season in the entire season and that was in your bowl game so just not a great look I expect Penn State to have a good year I think they will look good I think they'll look sharp but when you look at this team and and who they're playing I mean fairly easy starting off the year right I I seen easy four wins in a row then you got UCLA USC Wisconsin Ohio state Washington Purdue Minnesota and Maryland to round it out I mean I think this is a team obviously they finish with a winning record they've got good talent James Franklin's been around the game been around this team long enough uh he knows how to get things done I think the talent of Drew Aller is really going to work out great but ah I I mean I think I think they'll squeeze in Jay as a top 12 team I could see them getting everything in but it remains to be seen Jay I I I don't have 100% confidence but I do have some confidence in them I think that the main thing for me though like I said can you get it done in the big games that's what this team
