first and six more votes counted in a close Tulsa city council race thank you for joining us tonight I'm Tatum guinn and I'm Jonathan Cooper the numbers change but the results didn't news on 6's Emory Bryan is live with this story Emery well when the votes were counted in The District 5 city council race it was closed just 28 votes and there was speculation that provisional ballots counted today might change that they didn't but now both candidates want a judge to look over the election the three-member Tulsa County election board watched the count of the last few ballots so-called provisionals held back from the first count to verify the registration of the voter the board rejected more than half but counted the rest 15 Spectators watched all interested in a single city council race the new Total still has Grant Miller unseating District 5 counselor Mikey arthral by just 27 votes I had people say they weren't able to get a ballot that they had to return to get a ballot and that they were eventually able to cast a ballot at one Precinct last Tuesday some voters didn't get a city council ballot the election board believes it happened to about 30 people but it's unclear exactly who or whether some were able to return and vote it sparked an investigation by the sheriff's office but arthral who lost the race wants more details from the election board on what happened so we're still well within the uh the range that this election was Side by voters who were not able to catch the ballot he and his lawyer filed a petition claiming the irregularities put the outcome in doubt now the certified winner of the race Grant Miller has asked for a hand recount he claims the dispute over ballots not handed out is not enough to change the outcome we're paying the money to make sure that every voice in the city of or in at least in the district five in the city of tall citizer so now the recount request and the complaint about irregularities goes to court a hearing is set for next Thursday the 17th the new Council takes it office December 5th reporting live in downtown Tulsa Emory Bryan Oklahoma Zone News on Six
