Melbourne and parts of Victoria are on alert for severe wind and rain today Christina Hearn reports certainly still Smoky this morning but the good news is that is going to clear the bad news is that it is a cold front that is going to do it there is a severe weather warning uh in place for large parts of the state that includes Melbourne for heavy rainfall up to 45 millimet and also damaging winds gusts of up to 90 km an hour as well as Melbourne areas that are likely to be affected include jalong balarat and back a smash but it will clear this smoke Haze which has really blanketed the city for most of the Easter weekend it's a result of planned Burns in the outer East and there was also a grass fire in Altona yesterday which didn't help the situation now the air quality is expected to remain poor for the rest of the day however I can't give you up to-date uh information on the air quality because the one day you need the EPA website to be working it is not because of technical issues
