and everybody tried to talk me out of it I said well don't do that because you know anything that's good in your movie will be attributed to Ridley and anything that's bad will be attributed to you it's a no- win scenario and I said but yeah but I really want to do it it'll be cool what Ridley had set in motion was a visual set of values alien was a remarkable film and it influenced a generation of of filmmakers especially those that like Science Fiction and Fantasy and I was one of them I didn't think I could out outdo alien for Pure shock I don't think anybody could you know going into a movie theater on opening night not knowing what to expect the mystery the Wonder and then the sudden shock and Terror that that film created you can't beat that and I knew I could do action I knew I could do White Knuckle action let jump off from the from the horror premise into what ultimately becomes an action I don't think Ridley liked the fact that I trampled around in in in his little world that that he' created and and now as a filmmaker having made the ter two Terminator films then seeing others work in the same sandbox I know what that what that feels like
