latest Detroit Lions news right here and we're talking about Lions News two players coming back to practice this I'm recording this on Tuesday night so you're getting this Wednesday morning they return to practice today or while you're watching this yesterday and that is Brian Branch as well as Carlton Davis and that's major because Brian Branch been deal with injury since he had a little bit of a a a microscopic surgery to clean up and then Carlton Davis is deing dealing with an injury but they return to practice that's fantastic news let's keep the good news going here folks because jir Gibbs returned to PR well he'll be returning to practice uh Sunday so in a couple days from his hamstring and I know a lot of people were freaking out about his injury and thought maybe it potentially could be worse but due to Twitter it's not he is coming back Jamar Jefferson undisclosed injured trayquan Smith has been placed on I are the guy who we don't see that much but he's now on injured reserve sucks for him undisclosed injury but Sam laor comes back on Sunday same with zeitler same with Dan Skipper and DJ reader expected to practice next week huge news for the Lions there that is massive and I'm I think a lot of us are excited to see what he can do when he is lined up against the Rams and at my expectations he'll he'll be playing versus the Rams not a whole lot of reps he's not going to do a full starter but I'm sure he's going to get some cuz he's still got to get into football shape that's the whole point of him practicing next week he'll be trainers and and slowly just get acclimated to NFL season thankfully though he is a a long-term veteran right he's been doing this for a long time don't have to much worry about him getting into that shape what do you guys him tyon Arnold expected like we said inan with NS NS R draw on Tuesday Ami Robertson he was practicing but limited no update on Brian Branch but we just talked about it that he was there and mahogany is the nfil list and he's he's still practicing due to the illness so a lot of freaking great news because the Lions injuries were high and the lions are a cautious organization as they should be when it comes to injuries I've noticed this now with Dan Campbell and his coaching staff is there're they don't play around if there's somebody dinged up they arrest them and I and I 100% agree with that assessment it has worked throughout the tenure that he has been here yeah we've had some injuries but so does every team right in the NFL it's just how you adapt you know Taylor Decker talking about they got more trainers and better equipment to help out these players that are injured and it's going to do dividends for the season and going forward after this season right just going over getting better right there and so huge shout out to those guys right here we're going to Dan Campbell get into this article here Dan Campell would love to start hen and hooker against the Steelers he talked about this in the press conference that he needs reps reps reps reps reps now we're going to get into the press conference and we're going to intertwine here because I list to the press conference and a lot of people are asking me why are they so hard on henen hooker and softer on Nate subfield well just because they're not dogging you or ripping you up doesn't mean they're they're being soft right if you look at how Jared gof was treated it's he was treated differently right he need to get rebuilt up and some players get treated differently subfield is in my opinion he's not they could keep three running or three quarterbacks right they absolutely could but subfield is not he is just not the future backup of this it's just he's not the guy right it's gonna be hen and hooker if things go bad H and hooker is ceiling he's going up and up and up his ceiling is much higher than subfield and maybe they do start with three quarterbacks but just like Dan Campbell's saying he's developing and look they're when it comes to development we have to trust their developing process right they've developed so many players futu malanu Al mcneel Derek Barnes right developing you just can seeing them getting to get better right they they did the developing right now we're seeing it with Jack Campbell and players are going in the right direction they're doing it with bradick Martin and if they feel he's not ready ready to be take up that backup roll it's okay to let him develop a little bit he's a backup it's not like he's starting week one he can take the time to develop but he does need all the Reps in the world because he's not the starter he's not Jared goof Jared Go's going to get majority of the Reps so it just continued to develop and and he's going in the right direction we've seen it an improvement from week one was a huge Improvement to week two I don't think anybody is suggesting that subfield is sudfeld is better than H and hooker it's just that's just not the case the reason he said that sudfeld had has a up you know upper hand over henen hooker he's a veteran well of course he's been in the NFL for seven eight years whatever it's been and of course he's going to have the upper hand when henen hooker red shirted last year this is basically his rookie season right he's like he's like a rookie quarterback out there so of course he's going to have the upper hand but there's make no mistake about it um hooker's the guy and like Dan Campbell said he was going to start a hooker last week due to the concussion he couldn't see he didn't think it was fair and he does need reps but just because he says that doesn't mean oh he doesn't believe in him or anything like that that's just not how it works I can quite remember when Dan Campbell went on a Jared gof and he said and he got angry at a press this was week this was year one with Jared gof and he got mad and ever since then you noticed that Jared G went the right direction it's okay to be to to criticize and that's what Dan Campbell does he's not being mean he's everyone needs critique I need critique to uh sunfield needs a lot of of critique right so it's critique is okay being a jerk is not and that's something that other coaches may be Dan campell's not one of those guys talks about khif Raymond being the Kalif Raymond wide receiver 3 keeps wide receiver option open and now he everyone keeps asking why do he keep saying wide receiver three when it's really wide receiver for of course Dan Campbell trusts khif Raymond khif Raymond is the epitome of Dan Campbell and what what the type of player they're looking for I mean this guy literally has been here since since the beginning and they gave him a two-year deal Leaf is awesome he's beloved he's a punt returner kick returner and a wide receiver we know he can do Jerry go trust some everybody trusts KH fremond K fremond is just the epitome so no I don't think it's taking any sort of slight at him at all but he he is right right he does multiple things and so when you have a player who does multiple you generally don't want to give him as much like we talk about how Aiden Hutchins said we don't want him to have 95% of the snap sometimes like it needs a break well they would like to have other wide receivers to help out doesn't mean he's khif Freeman's bad at all but he is Pawn returner kick returner that's that's his M and he is gets a lot of targets from Jared G and he does a lot for this offense that but they he is a smaller guy and they do need another another big receiver what if there is an injury you got to have another receiver out there of course they Trust khif Raymond khif Raymond is probably as trusted as as much as Aman Ross Brown are pretty close there he he's a very you know what you got with khif fremond he catches everything he can run every route he go on the outside be on the inside he's p and turn kick Turner do jet sweeps of course they trust him that's not even a question I so yeah look but they do need another wide receiver and I'm not saying it's going to be someone from this team it could be someone outside the organization Dan Campbell spoke about that that is something that Brad Holmes and him are going to have to do after the final preseason game look at this roster he said there's about five spots left to make this team and I have a feeling that wide receiver four is not on this team I want Isaiah Williams to make this team and I did a a 53 man roster projection video and I didn't have him making this team because right now he's more of the slot guy right we've talked about this I want him to make the team I think he deserve to make the team honestly I don't think Donovan peoples Jones deserves to make the team but he's just the bigger guy and that's the problem so hopefully the Lions can find a guy whether it be from Cuts or you know how they do the end trades when teams are cutting down or they're going to release a player sometimes they flip a player for a conditional seventh round pick or a player swap or it's just a small tiny trade nothing serious whatever it be we do need to get another white wide receiver and in all honesty when I look at this roster not much questions left in it like we had questions coming into training camp about the kicker Jake Bates to me probably can finish it on Saturday if he makes a couple more field goals I think a lot of people the relief of stress will go down from there uh he did a phenomenal job so far right he missed an extra point and that sucks but he's made everything else sense he for me he's about a preseason game away from making me com able the defensive line has impressed me a lot so far in preseason if I get another one of those I I'm pretty sure I'm not too worried about it yeah we're talking about the edge opposite of Aiden Hutchinson with Marcus Davenport's injury but all in all the depth is so good and the last thing is Wide Receiver right wide receiver four and so if they figure that out man this roster is pretty darn good doesn't mean it's you know 100% perfect no roster is perfect in the NFL but my God it's a top two roster if they if they get that taken care of there's not much of a weak link for this team from a roster standpoint they're just not and it's not being a homer to say that it's just a really really good roster and that's just the bottom line of the situation so um I'm excited to see what they can do I'm excited to see what's happening in the in the next couple of days and that's going to be great again subscribe to the channel so don't miss
