against the Patriots and the availability of Jamar Chase remains maybe the biggest unanswered question in the sport he hasn't been practicing with his team he's looking for a contract extension he has two years left on the deal here was shefy yesterday on what the timeline for this week looks like if he's going to play at all this week against New England that deal has to get figured out in the next 48 hours the key thing here is that the Bengals play the Chiefs next week in week two yeah and that becomes to me a real leverage point for Jamar Chase because if somehow some way he's still not practicing and not playing in that game against that team that impacts your ability in a game that could very well have seeding ramifications later in the season and all kinds of ramifications right so that Chey with McAfee and the guys yesterday and and look one of this thing can get resolved one of two ways either he gets a new deal or he just acquiesces and decides okay I'm not going to get it this year I'm going to come in and play that second one just based on what's happened so far feels unlikely yeah I mean I hope he doesn't play I I I understand how difficult it is for guys to sit out but the tough thing about this situation is this him signing a deal is what's right for everyone why are we even going to pretend like he's not going to be the highest paid receiver as soon as he signs a deal he's that good we know that you want to keep him long term you would have been better off if you paid him before JJ got his money cuz now you have to pay any more so keep waiting it just doesn't make sense to me why this organization perpetually puts themselves in a situation where it suggests to us that they don't really want to be successful there's no reason to have Jamar Chase sitting at home and have him reacting to head coach comments he needs to be at work with a ton more money in his bik account amen I agree if I wanted to play Devil's Advocate I would say that Justin Jefferson and CD lamb and these guys generally got their deals after their fourth year he's after his third year this isn't generally the way business has been getting done but it's to your advantage to get it done soon cheaper cheaper and if you are Jamar Chase's Camp you're saying oh you know what his recent history has shown me the squeaky wheels will get paid you saw with Chris Jones missing a game and suddenly it was like okay no no no no we got to get this guy locked in Debo Bosa Trent Williams auk Derwin James all of these guys said hey pay me my money yeah and these teams understand it's about are you trying to a Super Bowl or not because without Jamar chase the Bengals not win a Super that that's the key the 100% the key is you're playing the easiest schedule in your division burrow is coming back off his second injured plague year right like understand what you have at stake and and The Kimberly's point you ain't winning the Super Bowl without Jamar Chase and the whole thing that that that that um shefy was saying listen he's played with Joe burrow in like they he don't need a lot he needs reps physically for his soft tisue all that kind stff but as far as mentally knowing what he's going to do this dude could go out and play right now he's he's got to get physically ready what I don't know what he's doing to train for it but but make no mistake they the the the Bengal are hurting themselves by not getting him signed and that's that's a bad that's a bad sitation yeah I think they have an opportunity right now with t Higgins contract coming to an end it seems like obviously that he's going to go away with um Burrow's injury history you don't have so many times to have a chance at it right now is an opportunity to go in your we would criticize a player who was uh not coming in and doing the best thing he can to give his team a chance to win we need to do the same thing for a fan base in an organization and represent the fan base to the organization you Dominique I'm going with Joshua Allen I think with Steph Diggs leaving and a lot of their talent moving on they feel like a team that might be in a bit of a rebuild I don't see him that way and I don't think Jos sees it that way I think he has something to prove this entire season he could be an MVP type candidate and I do think he's going to start week one trying to make sure that we all know that the bills aren't done they open it home against Carolina excuse me against the Cardinals Arizona in the early window my bad Kmart who is your player to make a statement week one Lamar Demetrius Jackson you know why because I also Factor an opponent the fact that he's playing the Chiefs if he were to come out and win this game that would be a that would be wouldn't be the end all Beall but it at least make us feel a little bit better about the Ravens I think Lamar Jackson took a lot of heat deservedly so he's coming skinny he said this off season I'm going look like Jeff Saturday and he's um I there there should not be a player in the NFL more eager whatever the word is more driven more focused more determined to make a major opening statement than Aaron Rogers you don't even I know you said W him in bubble wrap save him put him at your house to watch the game yes if it if I were the coach of the team I would rest him week one I would load manage Aaron Charles week one load manage I don't want him I don't want Nick Bosa anywhere near him okay let him play week two against Tennessee and week three against New England that's a the Jets go Monday Sunday Thursday you're a brutal little this is an NFC Road game against one of the best teams in the league you figure to lose it anyway keep Rogers home and sick I like okay so I I I think you're going a little overo with the protection I like the idea of him being wanting to make a statement because he's been one of the main characters in American life for the last year or so and hasn't been able to play football however I think that's kind of counterproductive to the best version of Aaron Rogers I know we only saw a little bit of him last year but he popped his Achilles that's an age injury that's when you get older and your things and your ligaments and joints and those things get a little bit more brittle and Aaron Rogers has to accept that he needs to move into that Tom Brady portion of his career you have to throw the ball away you're not going to win every play and he popped his Achilles on two plays where he's scrambling around that may be a bit of a fluke but you have to accept you're 40 now and you're a smart player play that way you don't have to win every single play let your defense what we need from you Aaron is to make plays when we need them ex you don't need him in the first quarter throw the ball away it's a it's that is a great point and I I will say this when I was in Green Bay with them they had we had an extend the play uh period of practice right where McCarthy wants you to you got to hold your blocks you're going to run Aaron's going to run around and then throw the ball deep do all those kinds of things that's been ingrained in his head to your point get rid of the ball go to that Payton Manning Tom BR model dump it fall down don't take any unnecessary shots play smart it's interesting you say that cuz he he was sort of the athletic quarterback before everyone had an athletic quarterback he's now 40 years old coming off in Achilles listen I'll just say it take me instead that's all I'll say all right just don't he doesn't mean that just so you know whatever whatever to I think if it was a ligament or something I think he would absolutely give up he would give up it doesn't end there a ligament or Li said I'm 57 years old there not that many season shut everybody up and win an MVP Nick you buy it uh I mean I think it's possible but it's the thing about football is you need an entire team and this team has gotten weaker from last season and he had an incredible season last year so I'm sure he is capable but I think it's going to get much harder and especially this first week against miles Garrett and that attacking aggressive defense the good thing about playing against the Browns is they're going to play a lot of man coverage which is going to give you some chances to make some big plays the bad thing about playing the Browns is you only going to get a second and a half maybe two cuz miles Garrett is coming he is always going to get there they're whole front yeah miles Smith on other side that is trouble yes look I I I would take it a step farther we're focusing today on week games and all that and this is a tough one against what we think is an outstanding team I think there's every reason to think the Cowboys offense takes a step backward now I I I hope I'm wrong I love Dak I'd love to see great things happen for them their running back room is a mess I keep jokingly saying they have the two best running backs in the league in 2018 but this is that's a very very long time ago their offensive line they've lost a lot of pieces from there CD lamb isn't going to get better you can't be better than he was he just got more expensive so I I don't know where unless d just elevates in a way that feels unlikely cuz he was already great I'm not sure what reason we have to think their offense gets better yeah the whole the the whole thing that the executive said this this beat season what did he have last year he's second in MVP like you don't you don't get much better right like like Lamar stumbles down or whatever you know he he gets the MVP the guy played lights out last year the only people who are hesitant to pay Dak are the Joneses everybody else is like pay him let's rework let's get people pieces around him so we can be better that's that's where this all season I felt like the Cowboys missed and to your point they are putting more pressure on Dak now because of that running back room a rookie starting left tackle a lot of different pieces and parts CD is the guy we better we better surround him with more than just CD think about the Eagles how much help hurts has like think about saying like everybody has help and you're looking at Dak and everybody's going to put put put an indictment on him you can only do so much I also think the way that they that they their team worked last year was very important for their offense to get off to a good start and that's how their defense played well we saw later in the season their defense got pushed a little bit so this is a lot of pressure on Dak because and on Zimmer to change this defense to a way their new defensive coordinator changes defensive way to take the pressure off of Dak to score early I want to mention this is Kmart's game this weekend so you've obviously already been talking to people there open up the notebook what do we have on this listen if you're in Cleveland right now you are feeling pretty good about your chances not not because in a disrespectful way but because we know the type of Defense we have we will put our dline against your o line you got new pieces you got young guys against Dak and and to your point Jee about moris being put on dak's plate a year after he had one of his best seasons um you know I understand the Browns don't have Nick chub but their whole situation is it's been a running back by committee that's right they're going to try to win time of possession um you know and it's funny Mike McCarthy asked about going against the Browns he said listen we they have best defense last year we had like one of the best offenses so we're good the difference though is that CD lamb missed most he missed everything essentially how will he Faire will he be ready will he have a set and and they were a much better team at home than on the road because Dak has to do so much at the line it's very and for a young offensive line communication matters at a place like that dog pound gets going makes it even more hard very quickly put the picks up Cindy there they are Kmart not making a pick here because it's her game uh Nick likes the Cowboys Jeff and I both like Cleveland
