Game Day Eats West Virginia University

Morgantown West Virginia game day eats is rolling into town we're here to check out your campus and find some great spots to eat now I know Penn State is coming to town this week so there's going to be a whole bunch of people flooding morgant town so let's head on over to campus we're going to take a quick look around check out some of the buildings and then we're hitting the pavement I got some food to show you let's get back to the College West Virginia University established an8 1967 currently has about 24,000 students enrolled it's located in Morgan Town West Virginia population 30,000 which is good for third largest city in the state and for those of you keeping track at home that is mangalia County as far as Athletics Go West Virginia has had some Legends over the years in basketball you got Jerry West for football I was always a fan of Pacman Jones Aaron Beasley Pat McAfee is another West Virginia a lum and absolute Legend but now let's switch it over to food we're talking pepperoni rolls because pepperoni rolls is what West Virginia is known for and I've never had a traditional one until now I'm at Phoenix Bakery and I am going all out they are not just a pepperoni roll roll spot they bake their own bread inhouse now I believe that they're the only bread Baker in morgant town say that twice obviously they got the sweets and they're doing pizzas take a look at this oven they're firing out some pretty Incredible Pizzas and they're doing it quick now I had a recommendation to come here to try the pepperoni roll the pizza actually I was told to try everything and for good reason it is very good and I got to be honest with you I would have never in a million years guessed that there was good pizza in West Virginia not like this anyway you can tell they pay special attention to the dough it's very light it's crispy minimal flop long fermentation process is my guess definitely a spot you're going to want to check out that's Phoenix Bakery on to the next one we're heading down and we're checking out kegler's sports bar which this place is has been a staple in morgant town for the last 30 years doors opened up in 1994 they were on the coach's shows out of here which I fully understand they got a ton of West Virginia memorabilia on the wall but we are here to eat I tried both their famous Wings they got the kegler's garlic butter and the kegler's gold both of which loaded with flavor just not enough sauce so make sure you ask for extra sauce and hey you could even bowl of frame or two when you're done because this place is connected to a bowling alley moving on it's Mario's Fishbowl possibly the most legendary morgant Town spot they've been open for honestly I'm not quite sure so in 1950 it opened up as the Richwood Avenue confectionary in 1963 it became the Fishbowl so either way very long time and easy to see why Wings excellent white amount of sauce lots of flavor and they're homemade chips covered with blue cheese balsamic glaze they were incredible the burger you're going to want to try that too and there's those chips again this is a spot you got to try and there's one more that I want to take you to so let's hop in the car we're going to take a ride down to the stadium and check out the Varsity Club it's right across the street it could not be any more conveniently located to the stadium than it is now it hasn't been open forever within the last 20 years but it is covered with Mountaineer history from the floor to the ceiling wall to wall and they've got the coldest beverage in town and the fried banana peppers are out of this world the wings loaded with flavor cooked perfectly nice and crispy but needed a little bit more sauce and here's their take on the pepper peeron roll little different than what we saw before but still very good and you got to visit the Don knot statue on your way out of town that was my last move I'm back on the road as well I'm headed to another school not sure which one so you better let me know your favorite school in the comments
