we spent a few days wondering what was going to happen and the Eagles were very sensitive about the perception that they were even considering the possibility of making a change they would make fun of the Cowboys privately for putting out a statement that Mike McCarthy is coming back why do you need to put out a statement that a guy that's won 12 games in three consecutive years is coming back the Eagles never put out a statement that Nick serani is coming back although you have to imagine there was at least a discussion a consideration and serani had to come forward with a plan more concrete than we just have confidence we'll turn this around which is what he said to the reporters when he finally had his his end of season press conference you have to have something better than that and it included concretely getting rid of both coordinators and replacing them with Kell Moore and Vic fangio so I ask you this which guy do you think is going to have the bigger impact on holding this thing together and allowing the Eagles to do this year what they were unable to do last year they're both going to have a huge impact I'm not trying to to to skirt the question here or you know get away from it I'm just you know I'm just trying to put it in perspective the defense is one of the most talented at football and let's just the last seven or eight weeks what were they the 31st ranked defense in football I mean it fell off planet Earth so I mean my point is both sides need it and we saw the offense right Jaylen Herz right the offense itself they didn't run the ball the same it definitely seemed more simple than what we had seen I think because of that and it wasn't as easy Jaylen Herz he turned the ball over a a whole lot more trying to force the issue a little bit holding the ball long he miss Shane Sten I mean if you're going to make me pick one okay I think I'd probably go with Kellen Moore but damn this is one where I look at it and go they needed it big time on both sides of the ball uh but I I I guess I would go with Kell Moore just because that offense has the ability to not be stopped by anybody really and and with that offensive line those receivers the tight end and now saquan Barkley I mean if it's a just a a good offense and a good system they're going to be borderline on stoppable with that Talent on the field well I think the coordinators have different impacts last year the defensive coaching was so bad they get the guy they would have gotten if the Jonathan Ganon tampering thing hadn't occurred the ship had sailed on fangio staying he'd given his word to the Dolphins he didn't go back on that that's the guy they wanted last year before it was Shawn Desa who was eventually quietly demoted for Matt Patricia it never quite worked offensively with Brian Johnson the thinking was hey this guy's known Jaylen Herz forever this is going to work and it just didn't and I think serani is trying to take a step back and be the head coach and not micro manage the offense and let Kell Moore Run things but I think it's more critical that that they get to the right spot with Jaylen Herz AJ Brown make that offense work the defense will take care of itself the defense can't be any worse it's only going to be better the offense is where the dysfunction seemed to come from last year so that's what they need to get under control yeah I I would agree with that you know that's priority number one is's your biggest investment in the team is Jaylen Herz right the offense has a lot of Big Time Players and uh you got to get that situation and that quarterback feeling like he's in control and he's the man again and that's where I I kind of give Kell Mo the the advantage in this conversation but we both know both are really important hi it's Mike Florio thanks for watching PFT on YouTube hit subscribe for the latest news and Analysis from pro football talk
