several school districts in the area are going to remain closed today due to monday's inclement weather jasmine monroe joins us live this morning with the latest on the side street conditions and driving in this morning still not back to normal jasmine yeah no um honestly if you're waking up this morning and you're wondering why the kids are still at home with you it's because of those sidewalks and the side streets i want to show you something right here we're live this morning on west 116th street in belmont those are just sidewalks and here's the thing when kids have to go to school they have to take the sidewalk you don't want those kids walking in the middle of the street the good news on this street is just about five minutes ago a plow truck did come and plow the streets so they are outside folks but i want to explain a little bit more about what's happening here in the city now the cleveland metropolitan school district and akron public schools are just a few spots that are closed for today cmsd did announce that they will be no school or remote learning today for all their school districts facilities will remain open at the akron public schools they announced that it will be closed today due to the impact of snow on city streets and sidewalks that's for akron public schools they will be closed today but again as you can see live here on west 116th street in belmont this road maureen was totally snow covered as soon as i pulled up the snow plow truck was coming down so i think the snow gods are working in our fingers this morning that's true but i mean if you take a look behind you too i mean it's been driven on so that snow's gotten packed down so it's still dangerous even as these plows are trying to make their way through i think that's one of the bigger issues that we're going to be seeing for a couple days jasmine thank you so much thanks for the live look and it does look like that on a lot of side streets that i've seen even coming in today so many school closings are rolling in for today you can see them at the bottom of your screen this includes cleveland and akron schools so if you want to get the full list right to your phone just text the word closings to 216-344-3300 again that is a text not a phone call yeah and now that the storm has moved through today the perfect day for getting out enjoying the snow especially with all these school closings right we've posted some of the top locations for sledding on our website wkyc.com how about kane park hill hinckley township sledding hill and virginia kendall park top the list so many great spots out there to get out and enjoy the day sledding
