Student reaction to Chatt State three-hour lockdown

the campus put on lockdown as we said almost 4 hours a good chunk out of the work day students also told to stay away from Windows and be as quiet as possible while the investigation progressed local 3's Jamiah batty brings us up to date students say they received an alert on their phone instructing them to lock down and seek shelter many of them tell me they were on their way to school when they got the message students described the fear they had as they arrived on campus multiple agencies responded to the incident many rushed to find somewhere safe until they receiv received the all clear one student tells us that safe place was her car so I just leaned all the way back in my seat until I could work up the nerve to leave I've been going here for I mean this is my second year now and I've never had anything like this before Chattanooga police lifted the lock down Friday afternoon declaring the campus was safe and secure School administrators say they will be offering students in need support starting at 9:00 a.m. students can take advantage of Mental Health Resources offered by the mcnp center and the Chattanooga police department those services will be offered in the student center and belonging Center in Chattanooga I'm Jeremiah batty Local 3 news and as you just heard when classes resume tomorrow morning resources available on campus for students and employees who need them the college encouraging everybody with concerns to go to the student center and the belonging Center a spokesperson for Chad state says counselors are available beginning tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. as we said Chattanooga State resumes those normal operations tomorrow that also includes students in Collegiate High School and the stem School Chattanooga the Child Development Center will be closed faculty and supervisors on flexible schedules to accommodate students and employee needs well with all the dust settled a lot of questions still unanswered tonight what's the penalty for this type of disruption also 10 threats at local schools so far this young school year why is that happening are the threats connected many people say they were not told everything about today's threat so what's the balance of keeping you informed and safe at the same time questions we hope to have the answers to shortly and as this story continues to evolve we continue to bring you new information as comes in stay up toate online and inside our app
