and hi everyone you found us had a little technical diff difficulty right off the bat something all my my my screen went blank hey how are you it's Emil it's Emil gilero Emil among you back in my covid Memorial closet with with my my gong and a some kind of vegan T-shirt there hey hi everyone God I we were sort of remote we were in Texas I got back yesterday and it was like in the hundreds here in California and I thought uh I've got to recover from that trip so I I didn't go on and we were just talking more about debate stuff right that's all we're talking about now the run up to the debate the run up we are running up or maybe we're slowing down I did a column on my pre-debate anxiety which I'm feeling I'm feeling I'm feeling today and I'll go over that in a second in the meantime vegan power is a t-shirt here up today and I have to say these people didn't I mean I paid for my meal or my family paid for my meal is not an ad but if you happen to be in San Antonio there's a great place called veggie Ria vegie Ria it's inexpensive it's vegan the uh one of the owners is a marathon runner and he swears by vegan power it's a great place to go if you're looking for Tex Max vegan style you might say but Emil I I live in East Texas go to V Vega I I don't think there's another restaurant like it the money you save on the food you you know you pay for your gas but you'll get there it's a good meats I had a delicious never seen anything like it a a mushroom cheronis which was delicious I had uh oh and the the vegan nachos they give you a plate I I if you go to the website and you see their vegan nachos you think oh that's a full order right no that's a half order that's a half order so I had a half order and then the other stuff I had and I was like just full for the next almost 12 hours but it's a great place it's inexpensive and they have I normally I don't get the the drinks like the melon drinks and the but they had a great watermelon drink watermelon water or whatever it's just sweet delicious like I said it's all vegan no no meat the beans are delicious uh both the the uh the loose beans I guess I you call them the cooked beans and the the refried I'm not really a refried fan but the refried were good uh vegeria can't say enough about them they're in San Antonio if you happen to be there you're looking for TexMex would say I don't like the grease TMX vegeria San Antonio funny I wherever I ate in Texas I was with a bunch of you know I'm in Texas I'm with a bunch of meat eaters and I'm not trying to prosze I'm not passing judgment I met someone who said I love the Greece I love my oil I said I'm I'm oil free I love my oil she said I don't know to each his or her own yeah sure why not shout out to my friend aryn I did that uh you know if you're a regular V listener to the show I was plugging some shows I was doing there in Austin I did one at the unity of Austin little church there they weren't conducting Services while we were doing the profane function storytelling although God is a Storyteller but uh it was a great place uh to to tell a story we had nice crowd on hand and that went well on Tuesday night shout out again to my friend arilyn Hughes who was part of that and then on Saturday we were part of a a story show Ern and I at at a place called Casa Delo which is you know people's perception of Austin is that it's it's kind of you know hippie-ish a new Agy only part only but this was the new Agy part we did some breathing exercises before we told our stories but it was fun it was fun there was a nice little place where they cook their own food and they they sell it to people nice Community Gathering out there really enjoyed Austin not a commercial Place uh and then there was a little Auditorium where we told our stories there were five of us in all apro uh Garcia Crow was uh the uh Mistress of Ceremonies fun night it's called the living room it's there uh once every month or once a month at CAD Delo and I happened to be there last Saturday a great time and maybe maybe I'll be back at casad Delo at some point Point soon soon I I hope it was a good crowd of austinites I guess they're called and I guess it's different from the kind of things you hear about Austin because right now you hear about the The Joe Rogan Comedy scene which is big I went by the club there the mothership it was okay it was okay um boy they're tied on security you know you you can't have any Stitch of any kind of metal or anything because they they're they're they're scanning you it's almost like going to see the president I felt I felt and then but that's a scene there the comedy scene and then there's the scene the music scene the official music scene I'm not sure exactly what the official music you know the Austin City Limits crowd but just walking up and down South Congress uh I went into the Contin nettle I went to the seab boys those are funky ass bars and they played the Blues they they had some rocking stuff when I happen to pass by no cover on certain nights great places to go if you like music and some people think hey it's the music that's what Austin's about but I found this storytelling group out there at kasad Delo and it was fun and it was uh it was very sustaining I I very enjoyable uh the reason I was in Austin though besides doing my shows uh where was to see the Texas Tribune the Texas Texas Tribune Fest and some people called it uh Woodstock for political junkies I I guess I I would say not just political junkies but for the high information voter as opposed to the lowi information voter because if you're reading the Texas tribun you're saying hey the newspapers are garbage in the state well they're not garbage they're just not as good as they used to be Dallas Morning News all the papers in Houston even the Austin American Statesmen not as good as it as they used to be because it's hard to be a newspaper so papers like the Texas Tribune funded by you know VC money go online try to do the real watch dogging that's needed in journalism they put on this event that really was uh quite it was good for Tex I mean if I was in Texas watching cable news and watching all the stuff on Politics on you know CNN and MSNBC I'm seeing God when are these people going to see me in Texas when if they can come down reach out to us and that's what this event was they had state and local politicians and media folks they had National media folks they had uh Caris Swisher the Beloved Caris Swisher San Franciscan I've only met her once or twice but she's great you everyone loves car she was there interviewing Nancy Pelosi uh I've seen Nancy Pelosi a number of occasions so I didn't go to see her but I did see Gretchen Whitmer who was was great I understand now why Gretchen Whitmer you know she W wasn't all in to try to be vice president because she has a much better gig as governor of Michigan she's also only I think she said she was 52 I think she said she was 52 and KLA Harris is 60 so you you know if you know how politics works there's like a pecking order and while a kamla Gretch Gretch big Gretch I think it was her nickname that would have been quite a ticket but big Gretch would have been in big mothballs because what does a vice president do except wait around for the moment right and for the the moment for kamla was Joe Biden flakes out in the debate and you got go and butress him up and then when people get mad and want to yank Joe Biden out you got to not just butress up Joe Biden you got to fill in and be Joe Biden or be the better Democrat and be the nominee which KL harrris has done and you got to think of it's just been a little over a month right that KLA Harris's launch her campaign as the nominee and vice Pres president and she's got to be careful to distance herself enough from Joe Biden to be her own woman I think she's doing it we'll see it more tonight but uh anyway Gretchen Whitmer we'll go back to that in a second but Gretchen Whitmer was there at the Texas Tribune and also and I talk about this in my column that I posted on the aliff blog the Asian-American legal defense and education fund Liz Cheney was there now if you do a Google search on Liz Cheney and her votes the votes she's cast just while she was in Congress most recently there's nothing I like about her voting pattern nothing she's against mental health she's on the other side on immigration she's Liz Cheney is not uh we're not a match we're we're not a match on anything a political Tinder nothing but I like Liz Cheney I like Liz Cheney because she's found a place where we can all be in one big boat together I that that's a good thing about Liz Cheney and so I talk about her in my column that I'll get to in a second but she was at the Texas Tribune that was good also Eddie gloud Jr oh Eddie glout you don't know him yet I mean you know I asked him what do you think about Cornell West they Cornell but I mean you know he was saying we could disagree we could love each other and still disagree don't know what why Cornell is running but he's running they're both at Princeton but Cornell West is running for president Eddie gloud is just commenting occasionally at MSNBC and there he was at at trivan Fest it was good to see him I'll talk about him in a subsequent column uh also Katie Fang was there now I didn't write about her in this com I will later but interesting interesting because she knows there's a dir of asian-americans on MSNBC and on cable in general and when I introduced myself as this Asian-American columnist he was like really like hey I put more Asians on and the time that I've been there and we'll get to that who else did I see I saw the people from the bullwark uh notably George Conway and hopefully I'll have George Conway on talking about I I want to talk to him not just about the race you know he's like so anti-trump right Pro Lincoln project or he's with the Lincoln project I thinks um I mean he he is he is so anti-trump that it's it's funny it's F he's he's entertaining so I I had a little conversation with George Conway but hopefully we'll get him on on the podcast at some point um so Conway uh Sarah Longwell interesting and so we'll we'll we'll get into all that subsequently but tonight of course everyone is talking about the debate people want to hear about the debate and the debate is well the the debate is is causing a lot of anxiety don't you think I mean for me for especially for me I mean my God I I I I it's high anxiety time for me so as I wait like all of you for this spectacle to unravel I'm wondering why we're even bothering with the exercise I mean you don't really need a debate do you I mean they're constantly opposite each other they're in debate mode already constantly do you need a formal debate I mean some people say come on Emil sure we do sure we no I'm saying no a simple side by-side picture of Vice President Harris and former president Trump is really all you need words are extraneous they get in the way and by now the candidates images should be enough to evoke the truth and make the right decision or evoke the truth in you and make the right decision for America now when I see a picture of Harris here's what I think vice president trustworthy oh what she did for Biden trustworth loyal what you did for Biden again competent woman Choice Fair African American Asian American new America she's one of us when I see a picture of KL Harris that's what I think that that's what is evoked in me when I see a picture of trump I think convicted felon 34 counts insurrectionist communist succubus C Helsinki Putin 2018 just put that down Google search you'll see that was like one of the most disgraceful disgraceful uh performances by a sitting president of the United States he calls K Harris a communist whatever well she's not Donald Trump is a communist succubus want to be dictator EEG Carroll stormmy Daniels liar Central Park 5 racist sexist no choice that's what I think when I see a picture of Donald Trump all that just from the pictures which are muted of course but still strike those cords inside you and it's a big sound and you think about it a debate just adds to the noise but if you must watch and all good Americans really should really really you should watch on the ALF site I provide a bingo card it's from the LA times and it's a one two three four five by one two three four five 5 by five square with things that could be uttered and you mark them off voter fraud Bo bordar radical lunatic communist fascist hordes the end of our country I mean all that and you can mark them off and then if you get see if you get a perfect five in a row Bingo of course the key thing is what's in the center of the bingo card at the center is LA Times head Willie Brown this uh bingo card courtesy of LA Times is Anita chabria great Rider and I put it out there because yeah you know be you hear people saying oh yeah playing drinking games and having Bingo cards well she posted her Bingo cards so I reposted it on the the aliff blog but that what's at the center Willie Brown that might throw some of you Willie Brown of course is the former California Assembly speaker who made waves at the DNC years ago years years ago decades ago when delegates were fought over and he demanded at the top of his lungs give me back my delegation that's Willie Brown give me back my delegation they fought for delegates Willie Brown also known as the Dapper one fancy habitatery is Clos Brown went on to be mayor of San Francisco and was a key benefactor of a Young kamla Harris Brown was both mentor and Paramore is that even relevant now will that even come up in the debate well it's only relevant in that that gossipy sense that brings emotion into an equation in order to overcome facts so of course it will come up and Donald Trump doesn't know to leave it alone he likes to split the atom as it were and cause chaos truth is not on his agenda but it will be an act of his true self and that's what all voters need to see as former representative Liz Cheney said last week every opportunity that Donald Trump gets to show the American people who he is is a good thing and last week in Austin Cheney had some Choice words for Trump and his man ver of supporters calling them misogynistic pigs theistic pigs now that's a modern update from the old chauvinist pigs that Betty feran and Gloria steinm used to uh use as their phrase oh the chauvin's pigs named after guy named chauan I think who was really kind of showed his bias toward men or toward something chauvinistic pigs was a term Cheney made it easier misoginis pigs she told the Texas Tribune Festival women around this country we've had enough and this is where in my column I write about Liz Cheney and dudy in Texas for my run up to the debate I I was in Austin for the Texas tribing Fest a sort of Woodstock for political junkies and high information voters Texas is a strange State the polls there show Trump up by five to six points which is just beyond the margin of error but it's far different from mik California the state with the most asian-americans in the nation where some polls show Harris up by as much as 24 points that's probably why more asian-americans live in California Cheney the January 6th Congressional committee leader was a keynote guest at the Tribune Festival event fresh from her announcement in North Carolina that she was voting for Harris that made news but in Austin she added to the news by announcing that her her dad a former GOP Vice President Dick Cheney was also voting for Harris Liz Cheney said she had no trouble convincing conservative friends that Trump a man who is against NATO and Ukraine and his Pro tariffs which would be inflationary and raised costs is neither conservative nor good for America which is why it's important that Harris of Vice President Prevail Cheney told a packed audience in Austin's paramont theater but she was quick to add her choice was not about politics and this is Kate it's not about politics LZ Cheney says this isn't a political decision Cheney said it's very much based upon my view of what our duty is like I said Janie and I disagree with each other 99% of the time just as an example she voted against government funding for mental health but she found that one thing where the majority of us should be able to stand together said Cheney those of us who believe in the defense of our democracy in the defense of our Constitution and the survival of our Republic have a duty in this election cycle that duty is to come together together to put those things above politics you put all those things above politics politics that's something else this is duty to save our Constitution and to save our country and it's just too bad that the debate tonight won't be so high-minded but me in politics and rhetoric so my column I say what Trump and Harris must do to win the debate if Donald Trump wants to win the debate and perhaps even the election he should simply be like the microphones at tonight's event stay muted stay muted Donald Trump that's that's the way to win stay muted look presidential but mostly just play nice that is tough for a bully to do just playing nice but given the last New York Times poll was a virtual tie with Trump at 48% and Harris at 47 being nice may be more persuasive among voters just T tuning into the election cycle for the first time today for this debate but in the days before the debate Trump can't seem to help himself he's talked about a blood bath at the border if he's not elected he's talked aled about looking locking up political opponents and his running mate JD Vance has circulated a false story about immigrants in Ohio from Haiti eating cats eating cats Vance obviously has a cat thing it's all the kind of ridiculous and not so ridiculous fearmongering stuff that in Trump's mind will attract voters to him and I'm predicting he won't stay muted Trump won't have a crowd to feed on either and that means he'll be relying on Instinct and for him that's bad because his instinct is to be racist misogynist to speak his mind I think it'll cost him tonight for Harris to win she simply needs to stay prosecutorial and firm no non sense but personal and serious to contrast with the unserious man who stands opposite her the poll suggests most people already know who Trump is about a third of the electorate say they want to know more about Harris if she stays the course as the prosecutor it should be clear Parris is far from the person Trump calls comrade Kamala or comrade Camala she was California's AG the Top Cop she's no softy and definitely no Kami that should help inform the voters but it could also needle Trump enough just enough to reveal his true self yet again the unhinged narcissist and misogynist note I didn't talk really much about issues this time column I just wrote wrote aside from the duty expressed by Liz Cheney that's because the issues aren't really why you vote for someone if they were Trump wouldn't have taken over the Republican party so easily there's something more visceral at work that gets us to make our choice and pick our candidate easy if you've been following the campaign from day one tougher if you're just tuning in for the first time especially if you're an independent undecided voter in a swing state they're the voters the candidates will be focused on tonight still politicians aren't robots yet they're human even Trump we've seen them both perform react and speak before but who knows what will happen when the stakes are this high and their mics are hot and that's a take about tonight I'm I I'm you know I don't want to say I'm worried I'm not really worried because I would like to see everyone do well I'd like to see Trump play fair I'd like to see kamla Harris show the public what she's about right I I want to see KLA Harris be truthful about who she is and communicate communicate that to the the national electorate of course we know that the national electorate is one thing the Electoral College is another and how she comes across to those voters in those key swing States is really everything and so if you divide the electorate up into 40 for her and 40 for him and 20 in the middle and that 20 really is broken down to a core group of maybe six or 7% those are the ones you're you're kind of like pinpointing trying to trying to to see if you can get them to come your side or stay in your side or stay in undecided so they maybe not vote I think that's the challenge I I would like to say I am hopeful for KLA Harris tonight but judging from that Dana Bash interview on CNN that you did I think she left a lot of uh I I I think that that she could have done better like uh when her one answer was oh old Trump Playbook old TR let's go forward let's move on you got to address it you got to at least address it and say one or two lines about you know Trump's behavior and then move on the old Trump Playbook that's that's not the the last word and then you move on you got at least acknowledge with a sentence or two and then move on but maybe she was just trying to be tough I I don't know I know I know KLA Harris to be tough she's a prosecutor if she plays that she can balance that toughness with her natural bubbly effervescence that'll make one likable but I think the way Trump will go about it tonight which is to be nasty to her by calling her nasty will make her likable instantly I think that's kind of the key she will be likable instantly because I think Trump is going to go nasty that's why I think if Trump wants to win he should just shut up and stay muted but his instincts will will have the better of him and he will probably do do himself in by going n i mean he should know though that that doesn't make him look good but I think that is what's going to happen there I I I said it I think uh Trump is gonna I think Trump is gonna is going to show his true self like Liz Cheney says and K laara will will take away something that will help Elevate her further than than she already is I think there's a lot more upside for her than there is for Trump I think Trump trump is the fact that you know all this is going on and Trump is still in there is using a pull lot of his capital I don't know how much more upside he has unless he's like coming out with some kind of Oppo research that'll make people just want to run away from KL Harris but you never know what sticks how something sticks until you say it and I think K Harris has a natural Advantage because number one there's no crowd because if there was a crowd you couldn't get him to shut up and Trump would play off that so it's good that there's no crowd but reading some things New York Times posting some things about Trump making fun of her height really I mean if he does I think you're going to see a lot of uh people scratching their head saying really Donald Trump let's go to the substance but like I said debates like this aren't about substance they're about getting under your opponent's skin making your opponent commit an error that they weren't expecting to getting you know exposing the reality of your opponent I just think it's important although some people say come on Emil nobody cares nobody care nobody cares about me nobody cares about the uh the election now I I think people care I think people care I think it's wearing on people though I think people are sensing like I said the high anxiety of uh this pre debate boy what's going to happen post debate well I'll come back probably sometime uh tomorrow and we'll talk about that but there i' I've made my prediction I think Trump will unravel and I think I think KLA Harris will stand steady I think if that happens she wins more upside for her Trump holds his own or goes down that's what I'm thinking speculate do I know I'm just speculating but judging from what Trump has been doing the last couple days judging from what his his surrogates are saying and doing uh I can't really foresee a uh I I can't I can't see Trump engaging in a serious debate I don't think Trump knows the issues enough and I saw a report that said Adam ship says that that's one problem that Harris has she knows the issues too well she might come across as too nerdy T she just has to be nerdy enough right she has to show that she has command and that she's velvet glove Iron Fist that she's tough I think people will see that hey she's not nearly the Communist that Donald Trump thinks she is but as I pointed out if you Google Helsinki 2018 Donald Trump Putin Donald Trump is at the knee of the Communist dictator so comrade K kamla what is Donald Trump but in the palm of the dictator's hand go back Helsinki 2018 it's it's really disgusting all right so we talked about my debate anxiety talked about the Texas Tribune alde check out my blog or my column on the alde blog I'll come back tomorrow and talk about what actually happened what actually occurred may be totally different it will be if Trump stays mute on good behavior he has been in the past but there's no teleprompter from him it's just or for him or for anybody there's just a teleprompter in his head that says shut up Donald shut this is your inner critic talking shut up if you want to win but I don't think he wants to win I I I don't think we'll see we we'll see we'll see all right now football season have you gotten into that uh I mean I'm surprised football season I had to watch the 49ers play yesterday they looked okay they're they don't they're missing their star McCaffrey Brock prie okay defense just okay this new running back they have Jordan Mason he's good young guy but it shows you that running backs are a diamond doesen you get a good one you can like boost them up and become better but I think the the story in the first week of the NFL that gets me is how Tyreek Hill was treated in Miami I they got I they have the uh the the body cam footage if you see how Tyreek Hill was was treated What You Come Away with is it doesn't matter how big a star you are it doesn't matter how much money you make if you're a person of color and people believe you have broken the law you'll be treated like crap or worse or worse and you will not be given the dignity you deserve not be treated fairly and this is a guy who's making millions of dollars he's the star of the area right these are local cops outside the stadium they want to get him for speeding but instead of I mean I guess it's great they show no bias because he's a a dolphin player but they showed a lot of bias they showed no bias because you know they're dealing with oh the hometown Hometown hero no no bias there but a lot of bias because he was a black man so if you think that success will buy you fairness and buy you justice once again the Tyreek Hill Story shows that in America it buys you nothing you will still be treated with suspicion you will be still treated like crap and kudos to Tyreek Hill I mean he was released he scored a touchdown and made a little joke about it you know in his touchdown dance you he acted out being handcuffed Tyreek Hill's okay he's okay I'm glad he can laugh about it but that's our cu [Music] to not be okay with it and to not joke around about it on Tyreek behalf because it's good that it happened to Tyreek Hill because it shows it's not about class status money you got it you'll still be treated like chist crap Justice will still be hard to come by I'm glad that Tyreek Hill can take it in a light-hearted way because actually that is the best way to be uh to take it somewhat lightly so you don't get angry so you don't go ballistic I've made that mistake before too but taking it lightly doesn't mean we don't take it seriously doesn't mean we don't go after the cops who were involved and discipline them and make an example of this case because if we don't it's going to happen again to normal people and it will not be as happy as well it's not a happy ending yet but Tyreek Hill is lucky he wasn't beaten and shot because from the looks of that video that was released the body cam footage cops didn't care who he was they only knew he was a black man who broke the law in their eyes he was speeding so these veteran cops did their thing nasty nasty stuff so all right so NFL interesting but funny even though the NFL was on what I found more interesting this week was seeing the Indiana Fever and Caitlyn Clark and her her team the Indiana Fever um defeat who they defeat I forget the the team oh they they defeated Atlanta on on H Sunday and they played in overtime Indiana wasn't doing nearly as well as they should have but Caitlyn Clark proved that she is a what what is a phrase in basketball she is a complete player she passes she scores she plays some defense but she's a team player all the way her passing her assist she just has an neck and you see the the fever down you know they're coming back you know they're not going to stay down you know with um her teammates Boston Mitchell Kelsey Mitchell Boston's a great player too that that threesome all number one picks they're I think if they mature and play together well they can they can win it all I think I think Caitlyn Clark with their threes I I I just think that people underestimated them and and they're coming up I found that more interesting than watching the first week of the NFL because now we're coming up to the peak of the WNBA season I know people say oh talking about women's women's sports is interesting I you know I've always like the WNBA but it really did take a Bonafide star and Caitlyn Clark was that people have called her a catalyst I I think she is and everyone in the WNBA even the stars of The Last Five Years uh they should thank her for putting the league on the map because they got guys like me even watching and I I'm prone to watch women's sports because I I you know I Coach women's soccer you know girls soccer girls basketball too third grade third grade my third grade girls were killers they were killers and and I I just I did I just love watching Caitlyn Clark in the Indiana Fever I just do much more so than football at this early stage but I I will say this I love watching college football and I don't even go to the school I don't I I don't think I watched any I didn't watch any Harvard games but I watched every not everyone else but I watched a lot of college football and it's it it's fun there're you know anyway so Sports let's see what else is up oh US Open if you are you a tennis fan jokovic was out wasn't into it uh my favorite girl tennis play women tennis players they were outside I I I wasn't into but I I honor the US Open okay what else uh baseball man baseball I may have to root for the Yankees I I I don't really want to but they've got the Filipino player vulpi I don't even know how he's doing vulpi had short I think he's still playing short they got uh Aaron judge king of Highway 99 in California hitting home runs I think I I want to give him the edge over Otani and the Dodgers so I'm I'm rooting for the Yankee I'm I'm declaring I'm rooting for the Yankees It's hard for me that you know I don't even like to go to Yankee Stadium I'd rather go see the Mets play but the Mets they they go up against the giant I I'm rooting for the Giants but the Giants are stuck in mediocrity they got some good players but they got a lot of bad mediocre players so oh we're coming to that good time in sports and hockey is gonna start up soon oh it's it's exci if you're a sports fan it's b men's basketball be starting soon and I think I yeah the NFL's getting interesting I mean the the 49ers beat the Jets so I'm sorry if you're a Jets fan uh but yeah this is a good time a good time all right I um I don't know what's gonna happen to p uh PSA the Southwest Airlines and they open seating they're G it's going to happen though and it's it's just that I I figured out how to save that middle seat if you want to you find I was sitting next to an older woman who was on the aisle I took the window and no one wanted to sit next to us so you got an older woman like in their 90s with a with a she had a cane and and me uh at the window and I think it's because maybe there was no overhead space up top but no one wanted to sit in the middle of seat and we were like seat like 10th row ninth or 10th row but now all that will be you know all that gamesmanship when you fly Southwest will be out when they hand out assigned seats which I think I I I think just a way to get money I'm sure I like the open seating because you know that the middle seat game which I instinctively say is racist and bad because I I welcome whoever wanting to sit next to me in the middle but I just know that some people play it like they don't want anyone to and then I find myself arguing like like I'm Rosa Parks oh you want me to sit in the back of the plane you want me to sit in the back of the plane thing is the plane was half so there were lots of seats I was on a 6:00 a.m. flight early oh excuse me 9:00 a.m. flight really early well not not as early as a six but all right all right so that's it I'm gonna close this for Now read my column on the ALF Blog the pre debate anxiety some people say nobody cares nobody cares no people care people care about this that that's why I bet [Music] you uh I think this is going to be a bigger debate than the June 27th one for sure and it could be the last the last but in some ways I think Donald Trump wants it because he wants to put some distance between him and Harris and this is the way he thinks I don't know if Harris wants it because this isn't exactly her style she'd rather just pull away naturally but that's why I think this is going to be it because she's not going to want another one unless it's desperation time and she wants to pull away and an event like this might another event might might do it we see but uh all right check out my column on the aliff blog I'll be back again tomorrow talking about what happened happened and before I go one more last word about Texas you know every time I go to Texas I feel like oh I'm revisiting my youth I'm revisiting the time I was there when I was a young kid dropped out of college to work there worked in radio worked in rock music radio was fun got to be a a young kid in Texas then I went back graduated and then I came back as a young adult so every time I go there I lived in Houston for a while lived in Dallas for a while every time I go to to to Texas I feel like I'm revisiting my youth and it always feels exciting this time uh I was in Austin which I never really experienced but it was fun I but I see Texas for what it is now and I'll tell you I'm I'm Afra afraid uh for for Texas I'm afraid for its people I'm mostly because of the politics I never thought about the politics quite as much back in my day but I see where it could be critical and why this election is critical I mean there are people talking about how do we get rid of Ted Cruz more so than how to get rid of Donald Trump but I I just think that it makes me realize that I got a good thing in California I mean it's California it's aside from the fact that it's pricey just take a look at that poll you know in Texas Trump is up by five or six points in California Harris is up by 20 24 26 points that's reason enough to stay in California if you ask me all right that's it we're shutting down for now soothe your anxiety read my column on the aldf blog Al df.org blog back again tomorrow with um my reaction if not sooner might just pop up but definitely tomorrow 2 pm Pacific uh we like to close with a little loving kindness it's important you know I I realize that in my early days I I include some of my Texas years I was kind of this Angry Young Man type or actually no actually I didn't become angry until I got back to California and I realized now that that was not as cool as I could have been I should have been cooler and what has made me cooler meditation especially loving kindness far more tolerant far more loving because it happens it's true as you send things out as you send out the love it comes back twofold fourfold more fold my mom taught me that and I I don't know when I I stopped listening to that because I thought oh being nice like that oh that's no good and I think that was my Trum side coming out I don't like it it's better to show the love because it comes back you can profit on love if Donald Trump only knew that but that I I think that is a kind of like you know looking out for number one that is a kind of trumpy side that a lot of people think you need this to get ahead you need to like F the other guy no you don't you can do it the nice way if you do it but you don't have [Music] to and I didn't learn that lesson until I started meditating and so as I wish for me I wish for you may you be safe may you be happy may you be healthy and may you
