King Le is about what happens when power um is in transition I want to call the play by a version of its very original title because I think that better reflects what the story is actually about that it's not just the story of a king it's the story of a regime that is trying to pass itself on I've been thinking about Colin FRS playing King Le for a very very long time Colin fields's ability to speak heightened text is like necromancy or he seems to summon things out of the air when he speaks this text you know Shakespeare wrote These plays for stages that are not much bigger than belar Street and it was a space that was really really kind of focused on a very direct relationship between the audience and the playing space and that's very much like belar Street come and see King Le because I think it is perhaps one of the greatest plays and perhaps one of the greatest documents that any human has ever created it's a play that is full of beauty as well as horror and love as well as sort of like desperate need
