the Huskers played their annual volleyball spring match today at the University of Nebraska at Carney it's the second time Nebraska has played in Carney the first came back in 2017 when they played at Carney High School New ATT 10 Channel 8's Philip kopo shows you the support behind the soldout match packed to capacity at Unk 5,000 tickets sold out in just minutes for the spring match Husker fans lined up at 9:00 a.m. just ready to get inside it was a welcome return to Carney for the ne a volleyball team as anticipation grows for the upcoming season Husker nation was lined up at 9:00 a.m. to greet the team as they made their way off the team bus fans traveled from all over to see the team in action during its annual spring match Ashley walson says she traveled 5 hours from Wyoming just to see the big red we left yesterday after work from torington Wyoming so was about 5 hours came here from wind rain and hail but we made it so excited my first inperson Nebraska volleyball game so I can't wait to be here and see it all in person for the first time Olivia brunz was in line at about 9:00 a.m. she lives in town so it was not hard to get a good spot we had no clue how many people would be here so we just got here at 9:30 and just started sitting out there and it's it's really cold when we got here but it's gotten a lot better now she is excited to see her favorite player returning senior Lexi Rodriguez she's a lot smaller than all the other ones and when I played I was like the smallest one so once the doors open and fans grabbed merchandise concessions and made their way to their seats the Oscars would go on to sweep the University of Denver in three [Applause] sets following the game Husker fans got a chance to meet the team and grab some autographs it was really cool did you get a you got some autographs yeah who was your favorite Husker to meet uh number 22 wsy crowy yeah yeah did you have fun at the match yeah what was your favorite part the winning oh it's awesome they're amazing people where did you guys get autographs from I got the whole theme on this one and John Coke right in the middle nice who is your who's your guys's favorite player uh Rodriguez Lexi Rodriguez yeah I was I was ecstatic um just the energy that these girls bring I'm just really excited to see how the season goes everyone just is great um I love how Becca Alec isn't afraid to just go up there and play the net excited I'm so excited to be watching them on TV and so I can I was there head coach John Cook spoke afterwards about seeing so much love for this team from fans all over get you're excited to play because there's so much energy and passion for us being here police escort we had this banquet thing last night um just people are so excited so I think our players feed off that energy and that's one of the cool things about these spring matches because a lot of these people don't have tickets first time they've seen us they get to sign Auto you know we sign autographs last night we signed a bunch of autographs took pictures so there's just this energy and this love for this team and I think I think our our players really really feed off it and enjoy these matches now the anticipation continues as we get ready for the official start of the Nebraska volleyball season but this well was a good start reporting in Carney Philip kapo Channel 8 News
