[Music] welcome to the world let me tell you what I've learned about it welcome to aliens watching a reality TV I'm Erica and I have a new special host for a new sh I was about to say special show but that's just makes it sound silly um hello new host who are you hello I'm Janette and I actually am your favorite conversation partner because I'm your mom yeah I'm required to say she's my favorite just kidding um we're gonna talk about the golden Bachelor and it's I I was just telling my mom that I wanted to start covering the golden Bachelor and she offered to talk about it with me which I was flabbergasted because I had I thought you're going to say flattered um sure too and excited but I I had never I didn't even dream of asking you because I thought no way would you ever say yes because um you're not a reality TV person and uh this is your first time podcasting so it's also the first time that I've watched The Bachelor so I'm new to that as well and um I think that I think that's kind of fun though cuz also I'm not I'm far from a bachelor expert which is probably funny because I think most people who podcast about the bachelor are like steeped in Bachelor lower they know it um so neither of us are are coming from that angle well I guess my my first disorder overall question would be what' you think did you like it uh I did I enjoyed it and when the first episode was over the the streaming service it automatically looped into the Bachelor in Paradise so I got to get just a glimpse into what's the bachelor Bachelor usually like and I could see there's some big differences it appears that maybe they're following the same format but the the people in it seemed really different and maybe the reasons why they're there and um but I did find it I found it fun and interesting really touching I also did find it kind of sad especially when they looked towards the future episodes you could see oh this is going to be so much tragedy I was surprised at how much they showed in the previews that's going to come up and I thought well maybe I maybe I won't watch this whole thing they also definitely edit it to make it look extremely dramatic you have no idea if it's actually like uh previews are edited for maximum Intrigue they have no connection to reality necessarily like or not and they're not even necessarily connected to the narrative that's actually going to play out on the show if you don't mind talking about the previous just for a moment and then maybe we talk about the episode okay but from what you saw in the previews of the upcoming episodes did it make you more or less interested in watching future less less absolutely um me also less interested and I was surprised because I thought oh I can't wait for episode two and then I watched the previews and I'm like ah I'm less interested now that's interesting you had the same reaction yeah um it is interesting and I've this is just yeah a part of being autistic that I've noticed is the things like marketing that works for neurotypical people it doesn't work on me and it's yeah it's the opposite um and that's not to say that oh marketing doesn't work on me because there marketing can work on me it's just not the same like the different things grab my attention or like manipulate my emotions um so yeah no I actually I saw that preview and I thought well if this gets really dramatic I'll just stop watching it that's funny you thought the same thing and we do have somewhat similar personalities so we do have so much fun talking to each other because we can really understand each other's feelings well and I there's so many things I loved about it I also I wrote down because I'm a I'm a good student so I took some notes great because I wrote down I wrote down some of the quotes that I really loved that there were women who with full emotion in this you know reveal as they're talking to other women said that uh I want to be in love again and I could really feel that from them and you could also feel from Gary The Bachelor how much he also he wants to be in love again he said he wants to have a relationship with someone this is something that's been bugging me and I meant I meant to rewatch it but I didn't I'm pretty sure he introduced himself as Jerry but because he spells it with the G everyone was calling him Gary oh I can't wait for episode two now just to find out what's his real name like Gary or Jerry that's the big Myst I am wrong and I just misheard it the first time but I'm pretty sure he said Jer because it stuck out to me as a o a Jerry with a G like uh I wrote it down when the host said his name that's when I wrote it down but like why would everyone say it wrong but maybe he's one of people who's like too polite to ever correct so just and so everyone on the show is saying his name wrong and he might actually change his name like a nickname now I'm I'm really curious see we'll have to we'll have to see but I was saying I think he also he was so sincere and he's looking for someone to love who he feels really special with and someone he said that he could go to sleep next to at night and they don't even have to talk but they just know they just have that feeling so I I loved those sentiments that everyone shared with each other about what they're looking for and then back to the previews he says in the previews I haven't felt this bad since my wife died and I was like oh my God I can't watch that I don't want to watch Gary Jerry feels so sad at saying goodbye to all of his women that he's just connected with and he admits he falls in love with several of them which one of the things that I love about that so here we're kind of jumping ahead again to future episodes is of course he's had this one Lifelong Love and what he's learning in his 70s is you can love lots of people and it does show how limited his life experience was through this long-term monogamous relationship with this one woman which sounds amazing but he also missed out on many connections deep loving connections he could have had throughout his life so I have the feeling that this golden Bachelor you know series is going to give me maybe many of us including a lot of young men and women an insight into maybe monogamy and marriage is not all that it's supposed to be I don't know are we going too far too soon that um I mean I do usually like to just go through chronologically but that's more of a thematic thing um so I'm happy to talk about it but also I just it's a really interesting take because um that's sort of it's like the opposite of what the bachelor at least purports to be out right um yeah you're supposed to find your true love get married have that one person forever and Gary supposed to be kind of the um at the end of that love experience if your loved one dies you can have a second chance at your other one love but then in these previews he's saying I'm in love with several of them and they're in love with me I think it's a really fascinating look into what Gary's Life could have been like and what many of our Lives could be like if we opened ourselves to the possibility that there might be more loves in our life um I I love that take I and I love that to you it feels OB like the obvious takeaway because I don't think it will be the obvious takeaway to everyone this is my first step into reality TV so I didn't know where it was going to go and how I'd feel about it I mean you personally Embrace non monogamy like and so do I that's the perspective we're coming from so it makes sense yeah but that that also came to me later in life so I I actually I did not go into watching this first episode with I wonder how it's going to be in the world of monogamy I really thought Gary's find love your perspective affects everything you you know that's all I mean yeah it's so all right so do we want to talk about the show yeah yeah yeah um hold on we'll see how others who you know watch us talk about it how they might react I'd love to know how other people looked at the previews if they also made them more interested or less interested in future episodes and if they made them more interested or less interested in monogamy we'll find out um I mean I I I I bet that um I mean because obviously most maybe all of the audience for our podcast is neurod Divergent and so um in general we tend to not like fake drama so I bet um that that kind of um preview did not pull anyone in you know I'm guessing people would agree with us mostly on that I also want to clarify to you are are not um of the golden Bachelor age range but you do have some friends that um would be like in in the lower range you got you got at least one friend I could probably see how how does that feel for you just like do you relate to these people oh yes I related to almost all of the women I didn't relate to all of the choices they made for how they were going to grab attention back to your question could I identify with some of the women and I definitely did I'm only honestly a year off from being an eligible contestant on the show myself and so many if not most of my friends are in the age range and I told you that one of my good friends she did apply for it and she didn't get on the show so I thought that was really fun I think she I think she should apply again because she would be good on it I think she's beautiful she's beautiful and interesting and so were all of the the women they were all they reminded me of just other women in my age group and I think that is a huge difference between this bachelor and the regular Bachelor because usually um you don't watch The Bachelor and think these girls are just like me uh they're super Bly you know they're gorgeous you might relate to them in certain ways you know they're but um but they not like ah these are just like me and my friends they're influencers level you know maybe maybe that's something that's encouraging for younger younger men and women who watch The Bachelor and then they watch the golden Bachelor maybe they can also get that feeling of don't worry it's all going to become kind of equalized by the time we hit our 30s and I think that's kind of true I had told you before not 30s older people people in their 30s are on The Bachelor still when does when and also what do you even mean by that becoming equalized I'm not sure that we stay as focused on what do we look like we become more focused on are we happy fulfilled in control of Our Lives confident that's what I saw in the women who were contestants so going back to the very beginning of the episode um it starts with him putting his hearing aid in you know it's silent and then the world has sound along with Gary Jerry getting sound let's call him Gary it's just H for now maybe we'll change our minds with episode two it's I everyone else is doing it I'll just go with the crowd um P pressure okay so G Gary then we find out yeah about his life story and his one extremely long marriage and now he's ready for love again and here's one thing I found uh very different between him and the regular Bachelors is he's really likable and oh and I believe that he's really looking for love and that he's going he can find it here so like for me usually the The Bachelor just it doesn't feel real and it feels like we all know it's not you know like this isn't really about them finding love but this feels like um the stakes are high because like this is real he is here to find love and this could break people's hearts or like you know um and so I'm genuine L like hoping that he finds his his person and I will be really sad um if it doesn't work you know which is just interesting cuz usually usually it just like come on these are all beautiful people who just like want to be on TV which there's nothing wrong with that like I said I haven't watched too much of the bachelor but usually I think the Bachelors are just sort of uh good-looking and Bland yeah I mean which he I don't know he might be Bland too we haven't really had a chance to get to know him he is a little bit too but yeah but he's also it does show you just that like you're more relaxed in yourself when you get older you're it just feels like less of a facade and more of just a I'm a person they did choose an older gentleman who does look attractive but I think they liked that he had a visible disability of some kind kind that could make him more relatable and so people could believe he is in his 70s that he needed a hearing aid I thought it was interesting that he had a monogram to suitcase in the background and then they showed him just get getting ready like an older guy might and I don't know with the reg regular Bachelor shows do they also show a guy getting ready for his first meet up with all of the bachelorette women I don't know if they call them that what do they call all the the contestants back to this is my first time watching The Bachelor I I don't know I'm not you know call I only watch Demi season of The Bachelor so okay so it's not it's not your what you have my usual thing yeah um okay and I you know no but he made a good first impression on me as well I also did think he's really likable I like how when they had him tell his story he was sincere in his expression of his feelings you could tell he you could see it through later episod I mean later minutes to his how in touch he is with his feelings yeah so you see they cast him yeah um and it does make you wonder why they're casting other guys for the regular Bachelor that that you don't get that same feeling about that they're really in touch with themselves and they know who they are and have a a sense of their feelings and their selfworth what usually sort of for um The Bachelor in my opinion um is it's mostly about creating good reality TV so they're casting people who will be good for reality TV greatl looking um and maybe you know but people who also will bring some of the drama and Stu at least also in the season that I watched um cuz if you're new to the podcast um my friend Demi was on season 23 and she later came out as the first autistic um person to ever be a contestant on The Bachelor and um and so I watched her season and I at first The Bachelor in her season I was like this guy is a snooze why did they cast him but over time I realized why and it's because he made every girl feel special he made every girl feel like you're maybe going to be the one and uh so I think that's got to be part of what they're looking for is somebody who um is able to connect and give their energy to all of the contestants and so it really feels like it feels real for contestant you know like um and and it feels like oh he might have fall in love with any of these people you know and I feel like because Gary just like he he's very open with his feelings and stuff so I can totally see him U being that way as well in Demi season it turned out that the bachelor was gay so that's why he was so good at it because he'd been pretending to be into women his whole life so but I do I do sort of feel like in all of the ways that the regular Bachelor is fake the golden Bachelor is real which is why I like it better and which also means probably some of the original Bachelor audience won't like it yeah then they they go into his whole story his life story and his love story it's very heart-rending I don't like you know he had he had one love of his life and then right as they were going to start their fun golden retirement years together she died and um and now he's kind of living in Her Dream alone a couple of weeks later like wow that's dark you know yeah and that was six years ago so you know he's gone through a lot of grief and he went through the pandemic and he was isolated and new place without his friends and family in this place that he expected to be with his wife I I really could feel for him and I kind of like that they didn't tell too much of the story I imagine it's going to come out later but the point isn't so much what he has been and what he has done but what he's going to do the the goal of the show is to set him up for a good rest of his life however many years he has he wants to make sure that he Maxim IES the positive in those years so I thought it was a nice way to give us just a little background but not so much that we're were like oh we don't want him to find someone new yeah we do want him to I did find it really interesting that we we kind of find out locations of everything too I wondered how does that work usually on The Bachelor are people all from the same city because don't they do love is blind and they have everybody's in the same city Only Love is BL is really like that okay the rest are all from different places I did find that interesting okay this is terrible I didn't even watch Demi's whole season I stopped watching as soon as she she got kicked off so um I'm not 100% sure on what happens in the rest of the seasons but I'm pretty sure that once they get to a very small number they do like Hometown visits so that's part of why they're they're talking about this because you end up okay going to the contestants hometowns meeting their families like that's part of the of the show Once it's really went down to a small group I'm not sure four or something um and but no that's one ridiculous thing about like reality dating shows in general is they usually have have no respect for location um but on The Bachelor it's definitely usually these people now live in LA and they look like they live in LA that's why I like it's a different it's a different crowd like um and maybe it is just because there aren't a whole bunch of people who are 60 to 80 who are trying to like be influencers and actors and stuff so like that's not the pool to choose from for the show because that doesn't really exist you know um but that but yeah just by by necessity then this is sort of a group of more normal average people but it is definitely the people who have um stayed the most active and the most like in shape and like it's still it's a certain group of older people you know I don't know I I know a lot of really active women in their 60s and 70s and several who are still really beautiful and I wasn't sure that this was like the cream of the crop that they were likeing for who are the best looking women still but like these are these are goodlook people so when I mean like by average people like these are still the goodlooking people these are still I'm not saying they found what where what are the 20 hottest old women in America um yeah yeah they found more hopefully they will have more seasons and so they'll they'll find more I mean they did find some beautiful people but I I think they're somewhat and they're somewhat representative more representative than people probably think when they think about somebody in their 60s and 70s that should be good and I I hope that M yeah maybe the golden Bachelor will change some of that image of what they think it's going to be like for people in their 20s and 30s looking ahead they can see oh I I'm going to have Decades of fun and um sex and love and Adventure you just like I hope that is something people get out of it being interested in life when you reach a certain age well I had all my fun you know I don't need to look good anymore I'm done you know like if you cared about that before you're going to keep caring about it so yeah uh should we go ahead and get to the the meat of the episode Let's do let's talk those people yeah so he uh arrives at The Bachelor Mansion I suppose um and it's time to meet the you're right we don't know the the names of them contestants the ladies I suppose yeah the potential love interests yeah which that feels you know like a logical thing to call them and also like probably not what they actually called them um I do love how he jumps out of the limo just excited he's like yeah no he's definitely he's pumped this is the best day ever that was really fun fun intro we're we're gonna meet all all of the women and they have to they have to try and be memorable basically because already I don't know if it's half we'll go home tonight I think it went from 21 to 16 is that that's I think what they cut that's it they only get r five that feels kind of harsher than I thought I thought it was like oh I I thought it was like half you know but if they're like I don't know if it started with 21 but it was 16 when he finished okay probably everyone who actually watches The Bachelor like yelling at us from it's not 21 it's 27 I don't know it's definitely always the same numbers you know like that's thing The Bachelor has a very very specific format and this follows that format exactly um and that's part of why it's interesting is because it's following the format exactly and yet just it m Everything feels different because the people are different well maybe it was 24 to 16 that would make more sense just mathematically that's what I would do for proportions that would make more sense also it's got to be an even it's not going to be like yeah some random odd number that doesn't make sense um they just do that all these women pile out one at a time and so the first one is Edith in the gold dress and holy she looks so good yeah she's also the one in the like on Hulu the like the icon that represents she's it's it's the two of them and her in that gold dress like which means she looks so good she's emblematic of the show they're like this is she is this is what we want you how we want you to see this show um and yeah I mean just beautiful oh boy yeah I wonder how they decide too who's going to be first and second Etc I don't know but she did yeah she really makes an impression just by being herself right when she steps out oh it is and uh I'm sure it doesn't matter even what order they stepped out in real life because the producer I mean the editors are going to edit it into some kind of narrative um and there are things that I I know sort of about the bachelor just from listening to podcasts um and so I know something something that is uh common in the regular seasons is like they will kind of hide the winner like she's not going to be front and center or like you'll definitely seers but they're not whoever like is getting the most airtime in the first half of the season it's not going to be the winner um at at least that's how it normally goes okay and apparently also in the regular Bachelor Seasons the first impression Rose is a curse because that girl never wins um but this these people are so fundamentally different he gets to make his own choices so I'm very interested to see like is this going to subvert you know people's expectations because um I know I know it already did just because like the they're not um even though they're they're technically going to according to the format just like the cast is completely it it's it's different like usually these women are competing already you know everyone's trying to outdo each other that's not happening here here they're just they're even celebrating each other everyone's everyone's just showing their you know trying to show a unique side of their personality and and this the whole thing just feels like kind of fun and supportive I know you took notes by chance did you like write down these ladies in order I did that's fantastic I should have done that let's let's let's go according to your notes then okay so Edith I did say gosh she's lovely and she's the one who steps out in the golden dress and I I wondered how will everybody else try to get his attention she is certainly beautiful and um I so I wrote just a little note about each person but then they they started editing fast enough that I didn't get a chance to write a note just kind of a name and sometimes I even miss their age just like really fast I thought that was kind of hilarious and like rude they spent so much time on like the first half of the women and the second half they're like and here's the Expendable ones that we don't care about so I have a question about the way they listed the women too they said their first name and they said their age but then I can't remember if in the very first time they introduce them but it's certainly the second time that we see them they also tell us what their job was or is and I wondered why is that happening for people in their 60s and 70s some of them still are working but he's not he's retired and I think he's looking for a person to be retired with him so even if she's working now she'll probably say gosh if I win and I'm in love and he's got a like house I'm probably just going to go ahead and retire so why this emphasis on their careers for this version of the show I get it when you're in your 20s and 30s but I don't understand it as much for you know is they all have different names I thought well maybe there's more than one Edith so they want us to know this is the Edith who was a real estate agent and I actually I don't remember of what her job was but but you know this is the one who was a talk show host but they all have to different names so what do you think Erica I think that's a great question I think the I mean the straightforward answer is just because that's how they do it on The Bachelor they're using the same format um and um and so that because that's what they do on The Bachelor that's what they're doing here but I do think that's it's a great point of like but why why do that for an older group of people and there I think we can just thank capitalism capitalism has told you are your job and people tend to think that's the thing that defines you that's that tells you something about someone and so that is just a little identifier about everyone and you know I started dating again in my 50s and I was at first I wondered do I ask people right when I meet them so what do you do because that's what I had done in my 20s 30s 40s as a married person when I'd meet someone be like oh hey you sound really interesting what do you do and then with dating it was like no you don't ask what does somebody do because then it just kind of clouds the whole picture of you're looking for romance and connection and what do they do is what you ask somebody you want to do business with not somebody that you want to actually see is there a chance for romance between us or you know a personal emotional connection so I just found that really odd when I saw that they most of them it was retired this and retired that and or because capitalism has so successfully um brainwashed us yeah yes and made us identify with our jobs that we see ourselves as our jobs um that's just a really normal it's the normal question um all the time everywhere and I know that because people ask me all the time and I never know what to say I it's a question I really really really hate um yeah because I don't have like a normal career path the way other people do like I have a lot of things so a lot of the time if I'm focused on one thing at a time I'll say that like right now I could say I'm a podcaster but then they're going to expect that like I'm a full-time podcaster and they're if they Google me they're going to be like I've got a podcast Network you know or else it doesn't count that I'm a podcaster and actually what's your dayjob but if I tell them um which sometimes I do just you know for fun uh if I say I drive for Uber Eats they're going to be like oh oh you know or oh well what do you want to do you know what what's your you could be you could be more than that I'm sure I'm like I don't need a career pep talk get out of here um yeah because you're right it's loaded right off the bat and for this group of people it's irrelevant as the women were piling out of the cars you know out of their lios and they all were beautiful and they were so excited to be there and they really tried to connect with Gary and I loved his eye contact I wrote a note on it because you know it's something I I appreciate in a person anyway his eye contact and the sincerity in his face and how complimentary he was and he just watched for a way that he could connect with each person and then I thought so who cares if they used to be a whatever web designer I don't understand why that's suddenly there like are we supposed to look at that and then change our experience of this interaction that's happening between these two humans I I did find it distracting and maybe U if you know someone takes notes on what should happen with golden Bachelor season 2 they might say that's irrelevant information and it was distracting and unnecessary do you want me to tell you some of my other notes or you have more questions for me no for sure I I'm I I do think this really interesting and I bet though what my I bet that um probably um a large part of the audience especially a more neurotypical part of the audience um they want to know what everyone did because they're still looking how how do I classify this person like it is still what box do I put this person in so I know what kind of person they are and that's how people um categorize other people and they want to do that and they like to do that and obviously like that's a that's a problem um uh but also it's yeah it's the it's the culture we live in so um I bet it stuck out to you as a distraction but other people um it would have um given them a feel like okay now I now I have a sense of this person who this person is based on what they did for um I think it it was basically almost irrelevant I only remember even noticing a couple of them when they were like really interesting most of them I I just didn't even like I don't know did I even read it I don't I'm sure I read it did we find out what Gary's occupation was in episode yeah and he talks about it too in episode one he did yeah oh I think so missed it then also you know I listen to a I listen to an interview with him on a podcast so I might be mixing up what he said on the podcast about himself because I don't think it was in episode one okay well I can tell you because I know um from listening to this interview with him um he said early on in his career he owned um he owned like a fast food restaurant franchise like he was a franchisee he owned one of the franchises um and then in the second half of his career he did like uh food like more like B2B in the Food Industries Food Service yeah um he was a a vendor I guess of some yeah something like that something like that something boring like that for the second half of his way yeah yeah but I'm sure you know he did well and he seemed to like it I don't know um but yeah I think that's a great Point uh okay so the yeah next next second second person who steps out is Ellen she's 71 and she immediately yells out something to her friend Roberta we made it and he said I guess this is significant and then they cut away to they had planned on saying something about her friend talked to her into doing this show and so she was doing it in honor of her friend uh but she she was also hoping to find love I guess her friend inspired her don't give up and say that you're done and so there was this message about Som day you could have cancer like my friend Roberta so you should go ahead and and like grab life right now before it's too late so we had some dark moments in the first minutes of the show and not dark completely where we're like oh man this is really sad but we did find out but usually yeah the bachelor doesn't talk about death you know or like if it does it's GNA if you find out one of their parents died or something it's probably going to be bigger later in the season like yeah this is and I guess that's just part of having an older cast is death is part of uh like part of of the environment at this point it's around honestly for all of the people in their 20s and 30s that are on the regular Bachelor death is around them too and they just don't talk about it on the show people people feel they tell themselves it's not around but you can't really ignore or deny it once it's actually your friends and spouses you know but you you know there are contestants on those other shows on those other Seasons who've had parents die recently or brothers and sisters and you've had a lot of friends who have had close friends die or siblings or parents and recent grandparents died that's why I said if that happened that would probably it would be one of those things that comes up later in the season like I want so they have the second woman getting out of the car just talk about my friends got cancer and then they show cutaways for for those interviews I thought that was really uh interesting and then they show Ellen doing a series of sports just to show she is active and strong and I did think that was really fun to watch um yeah yeah I that is that is very interesting it's a good point so the third person they show you out of the car is Sandra Sandra or Sandra SRA Sandra and she says like I need to get into my zen space and then she just releases a string of F words yeah and he Jo he joins her he's like okay I really loved that we learn early on he's willing to play and to try to connect with someone the way that he get on board with everyone and he's trying to yeah I you want to dance I'll dance he's like I'm not much of a dancer but I'll dance and then yeah you want to make out okay I'll make out oh you want to say F words together let's do it I I did really I think they have cast a really good person for that and it did make her stand out like you're not going to forget that lady you know I like her she ended up being one of my faves and I did wonder is that she was one of the people that I thought are you reading the room well I don't know if I think that somebody generation my opening bid either but yeah yeah would start with with um cuss words we all do curse of course but it's not the first a first impression kind of thing that we tend to do but that because of that then doing it makes you memorable and stand out and she wants to stay on the show so yeah I mean not only are you trying to uh have a good moment with him you also just you want him to remember your name at the end of the night when he's picking who do I want to stay you know and she's really pretty too I did love there's such a variety of beautiful women the next person out it was Leslie she was 64 and she comes out as the old lady with the Walker oh yeah it is funny cuz you could tell at first um uh Gary he he's like okay I'm pretty sure you know this is a joke he's also like he can see it do do you need him help he's still GNA offer yeah which I thought was like very sweet and then she's like do I look like I need help P pow so that was pretty funny and she says that she was a dancer and then she wants to dance with him and I think that was all all of that was made for great television I didn't know that it made him want to connect with her but I so that's when I started to get the impression was right at Leslie that there are people who are on this show to get airtime just like everybody else who we've seen in previous you know which you and I haven't but I haven't and you've seen a couple um episodes of the previous Bachelor Seasons they just wanted to see can I get Instagram followings and that's what I thought for Leslie I was like okay she's an influencer she's trying to get Instagram followers she's definitely not trying to get a boyfriend because I don't think this is the way to do it I think also though um what would appeal to you isn't necessarily what would appeal to him I notic I noticed that myself throughout the episode were stuff that I thought was cringey he loved it so he's definitely willing to laugh along with everything he was ready to laugh ready to cry really engaging and I don't know if he's jaded enough to even have that thought that you have oh I don't think she's here for me she's here for she wants to get Instagram followers like I don't know that he knows that which might end up being a problem um he has granddaughters I think he maybe is more Savvy he just was there to roll with whatever people brought him but anyway I got the impression of she's not actually trying to find a boyfriend I imagine that's true for a lot of other people I will tell you the phrase that you are looking for because it is this is like the phrase you could associate with the bachelor basically is not here for the right reasons that people are always accusing each other on The Bachelor of not being here for the right reasons well and I think that everybody has their own reasons I don't think there are any right reasons well the right reason is supposed to be there for love and so oh um that's it's just that's one of the themes of the bachelor is oh that's interesting yes so it's interesting that you're already noticing it who is here for the right reasons according to that's what happened when when Leslie did that I thought okay so not everybody is here to actually try to connect with him they're here to connect people through the television set and um that's my impression of her I had I had the same opinion a few times but I noticed sometimes he seemed to like the those people any ways and you know like things that would have been a turnoff for me he was into so he like all right I don't I don't know his taste and I could be misreading him that I have some idea of what he's more into or not into I don't know and and it's it's potential it's possible that I honestly I also think a man his age is going to be more openly polite to a lot of women who are putting themselves out there for him so I just that was that's his job is definitely be nice to all of them be nice to all of them make them feel beautiful help them have a good time let them know that you appreciated the effort that they put in even if it wasn't totally your thing yeah so he's not going to show O this isn't working for me and I love that because that's not what nobody should come on The Bachelor to be humiliated and feel bad about themselves and go home like I hope that not doesn't happen um then there was a string of about eight women I wrote their names and ages down but they were just like clipping through them and so there was no way to really get an impression of what they were trying to do until they got to Teresa who's 70 and she's the one who said she came in her birthday suit and oh yeah she did get the TV time that she was looking for and then she be she she showed a different side of herself later but I know that's jumping ahead so I won't I won't jump there yet but Teresa she I thought I my first impression of her was wow that is so pushy what you're doing right now I wouldn't try I wouldn't let myself embarrass someone the way that she was embarrassing him and it really did feel like a TV stunt and so I guess you know that's maybe a reason why I haven't watched The Bachelor the whole thing feels like a TV stunt I feel like if he really wants to find love there are other ways to do it but he is getting a a an array of beautiful talented you know as I wrote down I think I think as we vibrant funny women it is not easy to find love again you know at at their they're all having a hard time so and they kissed anyone yeah the regular regular The Bachelor I'm like this is the silliest way to to find a a spouse so of course that's not what they really want but I I feel differently this time like I feel like actually um this might be a way that they're really trying to find someone because they really haven't been able to find people any other way and um it does seem at least from interviews and stuff he his dating he was he tried to date and it was not going well like there's there's a reason people signed up for this and yeah some of them it's just for fun and TV but I think some of them also like they don't this feels like and that's why the stakes are so high this feels like their last possible chance which is sad like that sucks because also just the um the person percentage the the ratio like it's it's stacked against you you know any of too many people this is their last chance at love that makes me feel sad I'm like you guys need more chances we clearly need right need more ways for old people to meet each other it's true and have fun clearly so we're already starting to think of all these good things that could come from this series and maybe this is one of them too is we'll end up with more ideas for more ways that people can meet each other I would love to if in future episodes some of the women before in their I guess their exit interviews they're going to have in their exit interviews they might say out loud now that I've I've had this uh you know amazing confidence-building experience I'm going to try X Y and Z and we might get some ideas about that I hope so yeah maybe I do know um that one thing you're probably yeah that probably will stand out to you and maybe rub you the wrong way um is some something that's on The Bachelor you have to you have to make make sure you get time with him it's not a given that everyone's going to get oneon-one time with him and so that involves doing things that are pushier and more rude and more attention seeking than you would usually do and that people might be comfortable with so sometimes when it seems like they're just doing this for TV it's also because they um otherwise you don't stay in the game you don't stay like you have to make opportunities happen with him and you do see the people with the Best Manners go home early on in the season you know and maybe that's one of the things that uh older men and women who watch this will get out of it is take some risks you're not going to meet anybody if you go you know even if you say I'm G to go to the park and then you just sit on a bench with a book you're going to have to go to the park and walk around and talk to people in the park you're going have to start conversations you'll need to go to you know happy hour at a bar so you don't have to be there late and then walk around and you see a group of men or women and you go over a and you talk to them I remember for example when you were in Ireland and you got lonely enough that you walked up to a table of people and said I need I was I was 18 I think that's a big difference is I don't think it should be if you're in your 60s and 70s but what I'm saying is I walked up to a people close to my age group yeah and that's what I'm saying they should do but I don't know that's what I don't think people are finding it I don't know that they're finding a group of people in their 60s or 70s to go up it's because they're not going out they're staying at home and they're watching okay so this needs to happen as a as on mass a movement yes as a movement more people go out especially these these healthy beautiful vibrant yeah interesting women should be out in the park joining clubs going to the pickle ball courts going out to the happy hours and then walking up to tables and talking to people and maybe other women who I start to identify with them and men who identify with us too will say there are many more opportunities and I'm just being kind of chicken and wishing that it were like it is for the 20s and 30 somethings but I could make it more like that tough though too because we also still have to remember um Co there's still Co and these people are old and um I did think that harder because they were immediately kissing him and see definitely they def everyone has been tested tested test they are that's one thing you you will know for sure they're not going to have the bachelor the Bachelor be a super spread event for and then half their cast dies there's no way ABC was ever going to that happen none of those people love Co I that is one thing I'm sure of Erica let's go ahead and give a shout out to the let's guess five or six women who showed up for the filming who had covid and they immediately got replaced by their alternates those poor women they bought the dresses they were ready and then grank got are definitely some beautiful women who had their bags packed and got oh I feel so badly for them all right here let's let's just stop here for a sec all right so who who's next in your notes well so they did should I list their names or do you think I should just go people people people so what I I wrote down really fast was Marina Christina Joan Natasha Peggy I can't read my own writing pandal Panda I wrote Panda why did ianda Kathy Pamela I nailed it nice nice although I like Panda yeah I was like wow I wish I had noticed that that should have stuck out to me then there's Kathy Nancy Teresa she did the birthday suit stunt and then April they did show her a bit too and she was really flirty and loud is what I wrote down she's very flirty just like wow she like throw it all out there I heard some say April is basically she's she's like uh she's bringing some of the like regular season Bachelor energy yeah and I think that's true I think that's right and then Renee was the cheerleader she did this kind of lame cheer that I was like it's a little it was a little embarrassing but memorable memorable and then there was oh there's a Maria so there was a Marina and then there's a Maria and then Anna Susan she's the one who had the six inch heels and said she could handle six Ines like six inches not that he probably should have interrupted like that right then with what like what about would have been fun if he'd hit her right back with a Zinger but he just laughed I mean heels I mean heels how are you in heels and then and then Patty she's like I'm I'm I'm famous too she like makes an appeal for that's immediately what he I just did I was hoping he was just like bam get her back funny just laughed oh it is be quiet and then um P Patty she was like I'm I'm a mom of a bachelor does that make me somebody so it seemed a little bit Des oh then interesting Sylvia jeie chippy who turned out to be Jimmy K's a who's 84 and then Faith rides up on the motorcycle which I imagine probably Faith arrived before chippy they just wanted to save her because she was making an entrance but anyway they edited it so she was lost and he they also yeah she she shows up on the motorcycle and man I wanted him to just like get on the motorcycle and drive away hilarious I would found her already I don't need to go through this season this is my chip like and then she has to turn drive back so oh we got a fight I'm thinking of like no that's what young people do that was everybody that was everybody I didn't think it was funny how they showed all the women like at the door peeking out they're like she's on a motorcycle yeah dang it it then there was that's probably some regular Bachelor energy kind of a oh no somebody's than me yeah I thought yeah I thought you meant the motorcycle I'm like I don't think that's ever happened I don't know but oh I don't yeah I wonder ladies are usually more of like I don't know the women you see on The Bachelor usually don't feel like motorcycle women you know indoor girls so then I didn't know I really didn't know what would happen next so they show all these women and they are all just they're sitting around talking and I've seen the Love Is blind show before because you told me I should watch that one and I've only seen a couple of those episodes but I've seen the women are in one room the guys are in another room and then they end up meeting well so this one the guy walks in and it's just whamming it's just a room full of beautiful women they're all kind of stacked in the couch and behind the couch and around it all of them ATD fascinating Dynamic yeah oh and I did think isn't there just any man young old any any man who likes women who would want to be right there right then I did think that was a really appealing moment when he walks in and I think he they all look so beautiful I mean yeah it's a it's a fantasy he say this is the best this is the best day of my life in so long I I know he he didn't want to say ever he like because I I did have a love of my life and my children were born and all of that but if you think of all his life with his wife was pretty much in the pre- internet just small world lives that we all lived in the analog world the midw Happ yeah yeah and now here he is just this array of beautiful women they all want to know just he kept himself in good shape all these years he's got this opportunity and and he has a great personality also oh yeah no he's perfect for this he really is absolutely yeah he he's a great choice for I did wonder I hope you love it's I'm emotionally invested I am oh so you're going to keep watching even though we're watch break down why if it gets too horrible I'll stop because I'm emotionally invested I can't I I don't want to watch his heartbreak I want to watch him find love like I I don't have emot enough just built in emotional stability to like just willingly go through that so yeah if it gets there I'm going to be like well sorry podcast audience so then they're in that big room together and they all all those women look so beautiful and eager and then oh it was U it's April it's April right it's April that ju well first somebody hands him an orange juice and then he's unfortunately giving a speech with a big glass of orange juice in his hand and I thought that's not what he really wanted I bet no I can I can explain this okay so why it is what it is what he wanted so he's giving a toast there's always a toast at the beginning and it's all it's a champagne toast always it's champagne but he doesn't like champagne and he specifically requested orange juice and vodka and so it is weird that he's standing there holding an orange juice but it's cuz he he wanted it okay and then April grabs him and runs away and the other women are like uh what just happened so you're right she's there to play the game she's watched the episodes she's done her homework and knows this is the formula and now I'm going to have number one I'm number one and she you hear the did you hear the women who there are two two things people say that are so funny right then is one woman goes like so it begins and then another she she even said let the games begin and then another one says she said she'd never seen the show before like clearly she has seen the show before she's taking notes she's been waiting for I'm gonna Sprint out there and grab this guy getting her time with him absolutely so yeah and then the she's got every month is April it's a very memorable thing to do it was a good preparation I I admired it he admired it yeah luckily I mean he did think it was a good choice he's not I think he's not like oh okay this is here's the biggest difference besides just the effect of age but it is of course tied to it is the effect of age um they don't care about cringe nothing is cringey to the these people oh yeah this is actually why you and I decided that we would do this podcast together is you mentioned this thing to me and I was like oh I'd love to watch it and talk to you about it is I I also didn't have a sense of what would the cringe things be and what's not cringy and I didn't see anything young people are constantly trying to avoid cringe so much of this stuff is cringey and we would never do it because but and so that's the thing when you're the young you're trying to yeah stand out without being cringe but like um they don't care about cringe and he doesn't he's and I think that's the biggest thing is he's nothing is cring the ladies aren't doing anything that's cringe to him and that's because he doesn't really have a sense of cring and that's like awesome and like brand new if you go back they I think they showed that he was born in 1951 or something and so if we look at he's in his dating years if he'd ever done them but he married his high school sweetheart you know right around 1970 and if we look at what was cringe in 1970 I'd say nothing there wasn't even a concept you just were yourself more often and there wasn't as much there was still popular kid iing is also Internet it's come along with the internet with the internet with social media with people who stand out as influencers they're getting more likes they're getting more attention uh in high school you'd have you know back in the day you'd have a few really popular people but they still had pretty big personalities and I don't think there was a lot of cringy things yeah so it's not just that he's older he's from a generation where it didn't exist and it hasn't ever existed in his life yeah there's that and there's just the fact of like as cuz what older people always tell us and you then like you could it's true is as you get older you just get more comfortable in yourself you know yourself what you want and like better and you just don't give a about other people's opinion of you anymore yeah and that's such a big part of life for most young people is um being aware of and worried about other people's opinion of them and you could see like yeah you reach an age where you don't give a and it's so freeing and I remember when my mom turned 50 and I asked her is there anything that you're excited about about getting into your 50s and she said already I don't care at all what anyone thinks about me and I'm so relieved and the same thing was true for me too I was like I do not even see the you have made menopause sound awesome I might be the only person who who like I can't wait I can't wait oh man there's so many yeah for real I mean just's a lot of good things to look forward to I agreed and so then you look at all these beautiful women vibrant interesting they're all postmenopausal but for sure and you can see that it didn't seem to take anything away from them including as you're pointing out they're willing to do things that I think makes the show I thought they were TV stunts but I never thought of them as cringey I did think is cringe like the pictures and everything and like oh it's so clever like um if you were gonna I don't know it's just like it's I thought this like birthday suit thing was I don't know if cringey I just thought it was inappropriate for a first date also cring it's funny but I wouldn't have thought of it as cringe oh maybe I need to ask you sometime what have I done that's cringy around you that you're like why is my mom everything we do is cringe I don't even want to get like autistic people are cringy a lot we should fun all the time I think as autistic people we can't worry about being cringe because we do a lot hey I'll just say probably one of the things that you've done with your mom that's really cringey is you've taken me to music festivals yeah and we've dressed up in RAV gear together and we have a blast and people run up and they're like hey are you mom and daughter and we're like yeah absolutely some people and you can even feel it most people are like that's awesome and you can always see a couple people who are like oh wow bringing your mom to a music festival and so cringe and you're like go eat you boring they just wish they could have as much fun as we have that's the thing um living life constantly in fear of being cringe is the worst way to live oh sure I'm so glad that I never noticed it was happening or is still happening cuz also it's it's unbridled genuine expressions of Joy are cringe like I thought you were GNA say no I mean that's what ends up being cringe is is just like really it's it's genuiness and so it it makes people uh you know coach themselves in irony and like uh and oh my gosh well I did watch like I said I watched the first pro being cringe I'm Pro cringe I am of of a Bachelor in Paradise and no one was authentic in that five minutes it was just they showed a series of people that's why I don't watch the regular posing and that's why I don't watch it like oh I don't like it okay um got it yeah all right so she absolutely let's keep April grabs him they never show like him come back I guess they edit out all of that the logistics part and they just have him have interactions with a variety of women there's one where he they just show he and Joan play basketball but they show her take one shot and it's a bad one and then that's all of Joan they don't show anything else Joan missed that shot and I wonder does that metaphorical Joan missed her shot I don't know I don't know I don't remember if she does she get a rose way they showed that uh we'll have to we aren't there yet thank you lecture me put me in my place yeah I'm learning I'm picking up um so then they we do I didn't actually I had the list of people in order and then I don't have the call outs in order they're pretty much just what happened in these conversations that he has with women and then they you know every now and then they go back to the women who are should we stop should we take a dog moment or no um yeah okay so who's who's next Who's Next well I don't know the order but I can't tell you some of the things that they did he did have this nice little breakout with Natasha for a while and they just laughed with each other I thought okay that's what she likes to do and it worked for him he was like okay you want to laugh let's laugh and he he did and I'm previewing he did end up giving her a rose too he loves he loved the laughs he got out of Natasha and would like to see if he could yeah keep getting that's the thing I I did find just interesting is the women were more willing to be weird and he liked it you know yeah and anybody that really kind of went out of their way and had a vulnerable moment with him so he did have this vulnerable moment with Teresa they gave her a lot of talk time for us too I guess they found her really interesting she's the person who did the birthday suit gimmick yeah yeah but she she reveals just talking to the camera for a while that she really wants to be in love and she she was one of the people that said I think this is kind of my last chance kind of thing which again back to your listeners it is not your last chance just because Theresa says that doesn't mean that it is but what I so she it's she says it's her 70 birthday and I hope it really was because I did wonder is it really her 70th birthday oh I bet it was okay let's give her the benefit of doubt that it's her 70th birthday and he he brings out a cupcake and then says to her his first really flirty thing if I got this on my face because she had said she she read this letter from her daughters and if she had something on her teeth that you know they wish they could be there to pick it out for her so anyway he says if I have cupcake on my face will you take care of that for me and she's like yes blew me away me too I thought okay this is g to go way faster and racer than I was expecting I think on the regular Bachelor don't they end up having like hot tub scenes and people hiding behind plants and stuff like that and sure but also this is gonna happen uh well I guess also we should have mentioned it it there were multiple women who like gave him a little kiss on the lips and this does not happen in the regular Bachelor oh really so like the first kisses do not happen in the first episode or if they like wow it's a big like just to it's a big deal to have like the first kiss okay maybe we take a pause for a second and do like a let's do a generational check here on first dates that do do younger people kiss and heavy kisses on their first date not on a TV show um uh this is this is tough cuz we're talking like I mean kissing on a first date is normal yes um but also like with hookup culture a lot of people they don't really go on dates and they have sex on their first date so um it I I think at this point it's like hard to say what's normal I just know what's normal for the show it is like it and it took a it like it surprised me it felt very audacious that like to just kiss him on the lips you just met him in like a smooch like whoo but he's clearly fine with it so like that just that's different that like if it [Laughter] so I did find it really fascinating that they kissed and it was really genuine and the women had been admitting I want to kiss a man it's been a while since I've Been Kissed or touched and so I think some of them were like if I get a chance to kiss this guy I'm gonna do it and I liked that no this uh I was I mean cuz she said she hadn't kissed someone in years and you could see how much it meant and like that really blew me away where I'm like it's verying they should all make out man I'm glad yeah I'm glad they have this opportunity and it s it sucks and it just clearly means old people need more opportunities to meet each other because to make out this yeah because like it it was just so sad how much like she still wants that and needs that of course and and um and it meant so much and I but I mean it was I was shocked cuz it was so I was like wow really racy really just like we saw a little new side of Gary there you know like okay so he had his wife die and he's had not much luck dating and he went through the pandemic like everybody and so he I think he also was looking at there's a room full of women that want to make out with me and I think going to want to make out with there's time to waste there's no time to waste there's no reason to like Peck here and there if he wants to make out with them he's going to make out with them and they're clearly G to make out with him too so good I think that went the right direction I did think so again I thought some of the ways to grab attention were really gimmicky but I did and maybe even stepping over the line into inappropriate but making out with each other is fantastic I'm so glad that people who clearly her her gimmicky intro it worked to some extent because then he he made you know I don't know think he really felt he her to make out her her her desire to connect with him he says in later so I'm giving a little bit he says later to the uh to the host that he could just see in the eyes of some people the people who are really trying to connect with him and it meant something to him he felt a genuine connection and I did love that that is something he's going for and a lot of them are going for and you know whatever whatever happens like that was a great 70th birthday for her I'm so like happy for it yeah and I also just really I hope it makes me sad that um people even have the mindset though like they they can't do this again like there are no chances for this again like this is her this is that this is would be anyone's last chance to find love and that means there's so many people watching it who feel that way and I hope watching it they realize wow there are so many people who feel the same way as me and so like maybe maybe it's maybe I will meet someone cuz there are people out there who also want to meet someone and maybe I'll meet someone and I can see I'm going to have to step up my game and try to look pretty and look engaged I need to be a bit more creative so for example jeie and just be bold Genie she shows a genie and says now you'll remember my name and I thought no April totally won this round she you'll remember her name because there's a calendar full of aprils we will all remember April but we're not going to remember Genie with the genie I did think okay somebody who wrote a song and sang it beautifully is is going to be so much more memorable than somebody who took a basketball shot and she was terrible at basketball there's just a it for all of us let's talk looking for love let's talk about the song then well one sec for all of us looking for love going back to your point of you know more people need to get out there and then meet each other uh people who consider themselves in the older generation they do want love and affection and they have a lot of Life still in them but they're going to need to take some more chances than maybe they're comfortable with and that they're going to have to get out and join this world of dating it doesn't mean they have to be on TV but they can't say oh I wish it were the dating that I was used to in the 1960s and 70s because that's that doesn't exist anymore so that's what I'm kind of hopeful for also it's like clearly they don't just want love they also want to make out they want to make out you know yeah you don't have to meet the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with you can just meet someone to make out with just get covid test first get a covid test and then go make out get a cupcake and make out on it oh it's a good way to get a get a conversation started if I took a of this I got it on my face would you help me clean it off I think that's gonna be my new opening line it's just funny I would like e oh I'm not gonna for clean it off and then we make out no I mean the fun of he gets she gets to clean it off no I get it I get it it's just me personally I have a lot of weird Hang-Ups so it's not feet it was a cupcake the idea of cleaning anything with my tongue grosses out okay so back to the song I liked I liked song I thought it was genuine and pretty and I she plays guitar really well and I did think if you're going to do it ride the motorcycle well sing the song well they she played for her strengths and faith has a lot of strengths yeah and this is exactly what I meant this is cringe writing a song and and playing it for somebody like especially out of nowhere have making someone listen to you play a song you wrote is is cringe um and so just like that doesn't mean Nobody Does it you know because like on Love is Blind almost every season someone writes a song plays a ukulele or something um with wildly varying results like cuz like Zach from last season he did it the audience thought he was terrible um and well and so so did the so did Arena but um but like ever since he's gotten with like well basically Bliss is the woman that he ended up meeting on the show and he still sings to her all the time and she loves it and we saw like so it works for her she loves it there was another season where there was like an opera singer Guy every time he's saying for the girl he liked she was swooning and I was like this sucks he's like I so but there are other times where like they're just here I wrote you a song and it's just awkward and weird and you know so it's it's a RI it's a risk and it's mostly a risk of just like how is yeah how's this person going to feel about it um but also because at this point it's somewhat it's somewhat of a cultural thing so like you know it was in the Barbie movie that like men will be like here um you have to listen to me sing and play guitar and that like because it's somewhat of an imposition on someone's like time and and attention um and he does have 20 plus women to meet and this is taking up some of the time where they could be talking to each other that's a good point and so yeah to just be like here now you have to pay attention to me to perform when no one has asked you to perform like it can be very rude you know um but that but also like that sort of cultural context doesn't really seem to exist for this group which I just find fascinating um and so for her like she read the room right he loved what she did also she committed to it I do think if she had been somewhat awkward about it and kind of looking around like I don't know if I should be doing this it would have really she had the eye cont and she's like I'm singing into your heart I think she's also what what I would think somebody in one of these positions would do if you really wanted this guy to to love you is to reveal the kind of life he would have with you and clearly with faith she'd be singing and playing the guitar so if he doesn't like it she needs to know that right away I'm gonna be and playing the guitar pretty much every day and I'm probably going to be riding my motorcycle and roller skating now you've seen all of it uh I I and I I think he's he likes that you know yeah he's he he's interested in a a fun and exciting life yeah um yeah can you remember any any other or do you have any others in your don't that's that's it they didn't show us a lot of those conversations so then it got down to by the waya just texted me that she's coming home so in about five no in about 3 minutes my dogs are going to bark like crazy right let's wind up we get to the Roses giving out the Roses I'd never seen that before but I'd heard of it just cuz I'm not you know I don't have my head totally in the sand and just because I don't want to watch something doesn't mean I don't know anything about it sure sure and um he was very touched about having to do this and he admitted it's going to get harder and harder because he didn't know the women that he cut out but he's going to know more of the women as he cuts it and it did make it seem like this is just going to be a a walk towards misery but if he does end up with someone that he really loves and I think you're right I think you will the rose ceremony I I would this would be so painful for me to do I would hate it yeah and also I don't know it's like yeah you just met these people like it feels like oh there's so little time you didn't even get to know them yet and sometimes he does have to make a choice based on I know I don't want to lay down next to you and wake up next to you every morning just from the few minutes that I've had with you and we just have to say that's fair because we don't feel that way about everyone and he still kept 16 women around that he wants to get to know better and all of them he can see there's a potential that I might so let's find out yeah that's the thing too that I think is um it's interesting and it's like tough but good also just about dating is um anyone who doesn't want to keep dating you isn't right for you like it if it doesn't work it's not supposed to like it shouldn't work like even though it sucks and it's painful you really never have to worry that you've missed your person because like your person will want you back like your person will be attracted to you you don't want to be with someone who's not attracted to you who's not into you and so right yep it's better cut your losses if they're not into you and like yeah and if any of those women were there just to get more Instagram followers or something then that's not why ABC's hosting it so that that's F I felt it was fine I did think it was a difficult position for him to be in and I could see how it's going to get increasingly more difficult it's like if I did that with all my friends and then I had to whittle down to or you you know down to I'm down to my last few friends and I have to say okay you get a rose you get a rose you're my third best friend I would hate it if I got down to my best friends and then I had to start getting look like you and your brother if I have the two of you and i' I've only got one rose left I just walk off the stage there's no way I'm gonna do yeah that's sounds like it's sort of where he gets to ridiculously painful yeah because he he has kids that he loves both of his kids and he's got grandkids he loves his grandkids so just to have to choose who's your favorite it's tough that's really cruel and I'm not sure that he thought all the way through to I'm probably going to be in love several of them I don't think he thought that true I don't know that I would have either until I saw that preview people don't he probably didn't know that was possible he's only been in love with one person and a lot of people yeah because of our monogamous Society they don't believe in love with more than one person at a time but it's it's real you can be genuinely in love with more than one person and and once he selected his high school girlfriend as his life partner he probably never let himself really consider that he could love another woman as much or more yeah I mean it wasn't even on yeah on the table um and but at that point when you love people at that point like it's it's not picking your favorite it's picking the most compatible the person who wants a life most like the one you want and who your daytoday will get along and is best for both of you on a daily basis okay so if I CH if I chose you or your brother just kidding me no oh gosh just is really tough and awful no I do not want to know what your sopie choice would be okay I don't think you know I was thinking about that we talked I don't need to know um I still do want to watch episode two if it starts getting super painful I don't know how I'm going to feel about it but you know they'll probably edit it so that we're also kind of ready for some of the women to leave they'll let us for example they showed Kathy they showed the Kathy woman and she's like you better say the name Kathy I just like I'm listening for Kathy why haven't you said Kathy and I thought okay he's gonna watch this at the end of the whole season he's gonna actually go back and watch the whole thing with us he's watching it right now too if he hasn't seen it already and he's thinking I'm so glad I cut there's going to be some villains are and also the season is is fair long also have feelings so I don't know I don't know I long how many episodes am my 10 12 I don't know oh gosh um Isn't Love is Blind isn't it no it's also it's usually 12 this time it's 10 um this isn't Britain that's the only place there's like six episode miniseries this is a regular cable television oh I've never Ben watched anything well you're not going to be oh the only one show in 2000 I benched watched the first season of lost see this is why I do remember that and hopefully everyone understand why I was so surprised that you said you would do this m me I'm not a big TV Watcher but I love talking to you er a f chat about I think you can handle it um because also listen if it's get every day that emotionally painful it's going to be way down the season we've for sure we've got a few episodes that we don't have to worry about our hearts I'm not concerned I'll go shop for the kleenexes I'll start thinking of one of my supplies while I'm watching and talking about this tragedy show I mean I'm really excited for the season I'm EXC exed um to podcast about it with you and um good and yeah so we're GNA we're going to talk about episode two um this weekend and um and we'll just try to keep up with the episodes as they post um we're a little late with the first episode because we didn't know we were going to do this this was I know we just decided we even let it get dark even like I didn't I happened to just be chilling and then I was like Yeah The Golden Bachelor I didn't know that was coming on yet and I watch it you know like I had no idea I was gonna want to cover it even so um this is and you know because I'm of a certain age some of the social media advertising for the golden Bachelor has been directed at me so it was one of the yeah so it's one of the few reality shows that even has come across my radar funny CU yeah I got none I had no idea it was coming oh I've seen articles and ads yeah you must be the target market so that is yeah yes well in first my friend texted me a few weeks ago saying oh I didn't get cast on the golden Bachelor and I had no idea what she was talking about so I didn't even text her back I was like is she drinking what is that I have no idea I have no idea what she's talking about that's funny so then it turns out as a real thing and I saw the Articles and then I texted her back I texted her back like two weeks later oh maybe you can get on a future ear
