Kylie Kel's husband Jason Kelce may be known for making rousing speeches but the former field hockey player took center stage at her Alma moer Sunday she delivered the commencement address at Cabrini University's final graduation ceremony as the school prepares to shut its doors after 67 years in operation the 2017 graduate returned to the college in Radner Pennsylvania before its property is sold to Villanova University at the conclusion of the 2023 to 20 24 school year Kylie began by joking that the university couldn't even get a top five Kelsey to give their Commencement Address referencing her brother-in-law Travis Kelce who has become a household name amid his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift my husband Jason Kelce is known for giving some pretty Earth shattering speeches she went on referencing the emotional speech he gave to announce his retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles he did not help me in writing my words today so you can go ahead and lower those expectations she quipped the former College athlete also addressed the beauty in staying true to your most authentic self graduates I want to start by addressing the elephant in the room first your high school graduation was stolen from you by a global pandemic then your college denounced it was closing and your senior year was spent on a campus that resembled a ghost town and now this you couldn't even get a top five Kelsey as your commencement speaker for those who don't know me I am Kylie Kelce better known here as Kylie mcdevit CL Cabrini class of 2017 my husband Jason [Applause] Kelce is known for giving some pretty Earth shattering speeches he did not help me in writing my words today so you can go ahead and lower those expectations everyone's first question after graduation is what's next I don't know can be an honest and sufficient answer the truth is that no one has their lives completely figured out and if someone tells you otherwise they are lying this is part of the beauty of growing older and wiser you are better equipped with knowledge to make more informed decision just look at me now I'm 32 mom of three where did the time go I couldn't tell you but what I can tell you is I have no idea what I'm doing every day we are winging it just trying not to mess our kids up come to find out that's what our parents did too I'm not trying to ruin the Mirage that is parenting but I really want you to understand that with determination and a little potentially unjustified confidence you can get through the times of uncertainty the more concise way to say that is fake it until you make it eventually you will have an answer your first job probably won't be your last unless you're a PE teacher and you are not alone in trying to navigate the conundrum of life I know that my time in athletics has helped shape me into the woman I am today I am well aware that my current position in life is due to the wonderful people around me but I'll be damned if I don't stay true to myself and everything that I do and ensure that I am always authentically me so find the things that speak to you your enthusi ASM can be channeled to create change and you are wonderful the way that you are okay I'm going to try not to cry [Music]
