- We're ready. But as soon as you roll that camera, we're gonna stop liking each other. Immediately.
- Okay, set. [beep bleeping] - Let's see what they all are. What was the funniest moment? - Oh, we did that.
We already said that. - Which cast member reminds
you of your own family members? [Natasha exclaiming] - What's a song album you all love? [zen music] - What were your first impressions of us? - Two professionals? [Natasha laughing]
- Yeah. Well, that's true. - Two professionals. - Professionals.
- Yeah. - And two very skilled people. Women with strong points of view. I felt like I was in good company. - Yeah.
- Smart. Smarties. - Yeah. People I could learn from. - I had never met them
before we did this movie. [Carrie exhaling]
[Elizabeth laughing] Intimidating. - I think I was anxious about it. - I think it had just been like this sort of weird anticipation thing. Where, you know. 'Cause movies.
- Yeah, yeah. - They come together, they fall apart. - Right.
- Ideas. You know what I mean? So it's sort of that like, oh wow. We sort of made a promise and we all kind of showed up for it. [chill music] - Carrie, I love your
empathy for the world. - Oh. - And Natasha, I admire
your [fingers clicking] whip [clicking] smart
[clicking] intellect. And humor. God.
- Thanks. - I love giving people compliments. - I know you're so good at it. - Can I do this all day?
- You're really good at it. - Yeah.
- I love complimenting people. I don't wanna hear it though. - That's the thing. Yeah.
- I don't wanna hear. - You're reticent to hear it. But I love how direct you are. 'Cause you're even direct
with your compliments. I find you very direct.
[Elizabeth laughing] And I love it. I think it's refreshingly direct. And you know what? - I learned a lot.
- Thank you. - Oo wow.
- Good job. - I'm receiving it.
- Good job, good practice. - Yeah. - I love that neither of you seem like you're in this racket
for the wrong reasons. It makes me really respect
you both a great deal, because it's in every single
thing that you guys do. So I really like that a
lot. That's very rare. - Yeah.
- I respect that you're in it for the wrong reasons. - Thank you.
- Yeah, yeah. [laughing] - Somebody's gotta.
- Get it. - Bring home the bacon.
- Get it. - You know what I'm saying? [Elizabeth laughing] Come on.
[Elizabeth laughing] [clapping] Deals, deals, deals, deals. [Elizabeth and Carrie laughing] And you guys have good taste in food. - We all have good taste in food. - You think so?
- Do we? - I do.
- I think maybe you the most? - She's the foodie. - Why, thank you. I like my taste in food as well. - I like the way-
- I know. I love talking to you about what you eat.
- You guys have self respect. Like as a self-destructive type. I would say, I really appreciate that. I think that that's a
lot to learn from that. - Natasha. I truly believe that you live your life like every day is a gift to you. And you have like a... I love the darkness that's inside of you. [Elizabeth laughing] But I actually think that's
what I think of you the most is the way that every
day you're showing up. - Because you can.
- That's crazy. - Yeah. - In my mind I live every day like it's a little mini
curse I gotta get through. [Elizabeth guffawing] But I think that the joy-
- That's not how it, yes. - The joy I get, I think is genuinely like.
- Yeah. - The connection. Maybe that's what.
- Yeah. - Yeah. - We are all gonna die. - We're all gonna die.
- Yeah. And I love that you really
keep that top of mind at all times. I find it grounding and a comfort. [groovy music] Oh good, a chair.
- Oh. - Let's all get on it. [laughing] - Take a rest. - [Elizabeth] Can I go? - [Carrie] Yeah. - What?
- Hold on. - She wants to read it herself. - What is your favorite TV show or movie that your castmates starred
in before this film? - But I'm a Cheerleader. - I would say when I first
saw Lizzie in Martha. - Martha Marcy May Marlene.
- Martha Marcy May. - And the The Nest made
me wanna work with Carrie for the rest of my life. - When I saw you in the
show with the, you know. - Superheroes? - Oh no. The miniseries.
- Love and Death. - Love and Death. It was like, at that point, I loved you so much 'cause I knew you. - Yeah. - That it was such a different experience. - Yeah like, yes that's
what I mean about... - Marcy May Marlene was
just like discovering. - Yeah, yeah.
- Somebody like. All right she's just fucking
knockout at every level. [Elizabeth chuckling]
But by then it was like. You just, you were so talented. It was such a like, you know, boom. But then.
- Your heart just is so full. - When I saw you in
that, after knowing you and like feeling all your switches, like I was so connected to you. - Yeah.
- And then we all gotta watch. - And that's how I get
with you on the Gilded Age. - I loved Orange is the New Black. I love all. But I actually just love
watching you in Poker Face. - Thanks.
- I loved watching you- - Now that I know you.
- In Russian Doll. - Well, Russian Doll is very special too. - Thanks, thanks, thanks. - What an oeuvre. - I also love reading your interviews. - Oh really? Which has nothing to do.
- Yeah, actually. - But they're like kind of an art themselves.
- Yeah, no. Just listening to you
talk to people about. - Your New Yorker profile, I adored. - Oh yeah.
[Carrie clapping] And I underlined it, and it was right before
we worked with each other. - You underlined it?
- I did. There was something I underlined. - That's adorable.
- And journaled about it. - Wow.
[Elizabeth laughing] [clearing throat] - Who had the funniest
blooper in this film? - You gotta go with Bill Murray. He- - You know what?
- Such a riot. - I think what Carrie did. - What was my blooper?
- Which one? [Carrie laughing]
- What was that? [Carrie laughing]
[Elizabeth speaking gibberish] What was that? [laughing] - Oh, wait. [laughing] Isn't that the Gilded Age? - Yeah, what did you say all the time? [all laughing] - Oh, that's right. - Congratulations. You did well. [all laughing] - Like that. But yeah. - And it got Sam.
- That was a fun one. - Every time.
- Every time, every time. - But I also remember the day, you yelled out into the street to the people who were being loud. - Oh, out the window? - Out the window. And the crew was really,
they were super into that. - Yeah, yeah. - Like, "Hey, we're
trying to make a movie." - Right.
[Elizabeth laughing] Because it was like a New York. - Like 2:00 AM on Friday. - And it was like.
- You were just like. - And it was like, lemme handle this one. Alright, we're also from this town. You don't own this block.
[Elizabeth laughing] - Yeah, exactly, exactly.
[Elizabeth laughing] - Easy. - Yeah, that was a good one too. - That was funny. What was the most meaningful moment that you share together as a trio on that sacred set of His Three Daughters? - I think it was that video
you sent the other day that I took. - Oh. - Carrie running lines with you. And it was like a beautiful lighting. It was sunset and there
was like crazy shadows. Carrie was trying to help
you drill your lines. - Yeah. - Doing, you know, her
best like team effort. - Yeah. I just thought it was a pretty moment. - Yeah. And you were making a joke about the experimental theater
we were in at that moment. - Yeah. - And you said, "Hey, I've
seen the Wooster Group. I know what the Wooster Group." [laughing] - Well, it's also that I'm
always, you know, messing. Because Carrie's obviously
like such a, you know, real deal actor. Like really?
- What bullshit. - No, come on. But I'm saying like. You really know.
[Carrie laughing] - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- But you know what I mean? There's not a. - Like constantly working on voice, body. - Yeah, yeah.
[Carrie exclaiming] - It was a good bit. That was my favorite moment. - Aw. - I really loved like laying together, playing Spelling Bee a lot. - Spelling Bee was really like. - Spelling Bee. That was like an ongoing good moment. - Yeah.
- Yeah. Okay.
- Which of your friends had the best style on set? I can't, there's, I can't
choose between them. It might actually be...
- Yeah, not characters. - No.
- Friends. - But it might be actually Lizzie. Because Lizzie's got that high-end shit. - You look good in, like,
you walk in in sweatpants. And I'm like well who's?
- Yeah. - I don't think I walked in.
- It's because of sweatpants. - I don't think I go
to work in sweatpants. - They're not sweatpants. See? - I don't go to work in sweatpants. - No, it wasn't like. [Elizabeth laughing] No, I mean, you have
like a relaxed fit pant. And I'm like, well how come?
- Yeah. - Like on me would look like sweatpants.
- Yeah, like these. [laughing] - No, but it's because
she wear very high ends. - I know she wears very high end stuff. - She's like a man of like few items but they're each like the best. - Totally. [Elizabeth laughing] - You know, cashmere, the gray v-neck you've ever seen in your life. - But also though, you just, you'll roll up in some like mesh thing and I'm like, oh yeah, you can wear that. - I wear a lot of mesh.
- It's not fair. - No, Natasha going into
the night, at the end. - Yeah. It's like. - The night is really more what I'm into with her hat on, her hood on, her like coat and her backpack. Just like. [Natasha and Elizabeth laughing] - Four blocks, four blocks. - And there she goes. - That is really her.
[Elizabeth laughing] - I do like to go on into the night. [Elizabeth laughing] What was the most emotional
day you had together on set? - We never had those.
[hands clapping] - We talked about liked
about some real things. - Yeah.
- Yeah. - And when you got hurt. When you hurt your voice that night. - Oh, I hurt my voice, that was a real. - That was dramatic. - Well, I was back I guess two days later. - [Elizabeth] Yeah. - But it was a real, like. - [Carrie] You were fine. - I was like, let's just keep going. - You were. - And you guys were like.
- You were pretty relentless. - That's not how it works now.
- No. - Yeah.
- And we had to. - We wanted take care of you.
- You stop talking. - The end too. Just like the fact of it ending. I felt I was very moved by that one. - Yeah. - Leaving it behind. Going back to my life. - You gave me a Lizzie Olsen shirt.
- My real life. I did, yeah.
- Yeah. - Gave you a Lizzie Olsen shirt. - It was also your letter invite. She wrote us letters.
- Mm hmm. - Yeah. - And I got a trail of
tinned fish to my nail. - Yeah, I did. A little trail of tinned fish. - Not out of the can. - Yeah, no. That would be disgusting.
- Assortments. - I'm not a, I'm not a monster. - No. [laughing] [all laughing softly] - What kind of movie would you
wanna act in together next? Oh, oh. - Oh what? - A film noir. Oh, a film noir. - Oh, say a film noir did you say? A film noir?
- A film noir. - I love it. It's a great idea. - Grab my fedora. [Elizabeth laughing] - Outro. - Okay, one. - Gimme an O. [Natasha laughing] Gimme a Q.
- Oh, well you guys watch out. Don't hurt yourself. You're in high heels. - Oh, right. And these pants are longer. - See, you're such a mom. You're taking such good care of us. - Look, look.
- You are a nurturer. I liked getting to give you compliments. - Yes, I liked it too.
- Yeah, I liked it. - Probably people have
to fake these sometimes. - A lot, I bet. - Yeah.
- But this isn't fake. - Or maybe they wouldn't
say yes, so maybe not. - Yeah, may. Yeah, yeah. - They'd be like, we can't do
the friendship test. [laughs] - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - You don't wanna shoot with. - I can't be in the same room. - We could do the enemy test instead. - Yeah, we can do the enemy test. [Natasha and Carrie laughing] - We do, do. ♪ I wanna watch you cry ♪
