here in Washington DC glad you're with us and Chris of course you have to think about that 2019 World Series run really impressive by the Nets inter league baseball on MLB The Show it's the Tampa Bay Rays and the Washington Nationals alongside Chris Singleton I'm John chambi so the Tampa Bay Rays are in position to sweep this three-game series with a win so Chris what's their mindset heading into today yeah looking to go three for three boo they've already won the series and now they can really leave their Mark it's all about having confidence and that's what a team takes away from a sweep so they're happy to win the series but they'll really be riding high tomorrow with the win today first pitch coming your way next just about set to go our starting pitcher in this one McKenzie Gore Chris how about a Scouting Report yeah zra last was a little worse than average so definitely be looking for better results this season you know one of the keys is just being able to have a consistent delivery and to be able to repeat that delivery so you can hit the spots that you want to hit and have a higher chance of being successful Manuel Margo the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one the one and there's a ball two's the count in for a strike and it's two and one and the pitch that one fouled off two and [Applause] two the pitch and Marco able to spoil that one pitch misses three and two now [Applause] [Applause] gets a piece and stays alive well he's having a tough time getting a pitch by him as a hitter you feel pretty confident that you're seeing different pitches still able to make some type of contact [Applause] swings and lines a base hit into left field and the lead off man aboard but when you see that many pitches in at bat your chances of succeeding go up and right there we see the result in half up to hit two for seven in the series so far and the first pitch misses for ball one a switch hitter it can be challenging for guys at the big league level to maintain a good swing from both sides of the plate clearly he's got more Po from the left side but in 2022 the right side was respectable as well now snap throw to first Margo gets back easily and the one0 that one missed well that pitch not even close a 20-0 count now he can't be over aggressive he's got to make sure that pitch is right on a te for him to First and they've got him picked off to Second and he's out so much for their first hit right there good move and he had him leaning all the way one down base is empty and a swinging a miss two balls one [Applause] strike and another ball these first two hitters really making him work out there already 14 pitches this [Applause] inning 31 and he couldn't come up with it well that's a really good take right there and that's just mentally prepared knowing that if it's not on a te you're going to take that pitch because you still have one more strike to work with not easy to lay off but he did an excellent job in that plate appearance Whitey Obama in the box now no balls in a strike three for nine in the series coming in strike two no ball two strike kicks andand deos pitch misses there and that is ball one half the base runner at first with one out grounder might be two to Second Abrams return throw to first got him double play and that'll do it no runs one hit no errors and no one left now it'll be Washington's turn it's a scoreless ball [Applause] game back in Washington DC and our pitcher in this game dirt bag W oh he tried to make it through the fifth inning last time out but the pitch count just got too high you ended up taking the loss that's one of those you just have to shake it off come back back out today and try to throw a gy up now for Washington CJ Abrams the wine in the pitch that's [Applause] take a look at the lineup singy we're looking at a really young lineup here so not much experience but it also means they're going to bring a lot of energy to the table most days well we're in a golden age of young players I mean these players they're getting up to the majors they're dominating from a young age bringing home plenty of Hardware early in their careers I mean before they even get to free agency so you know when you consider all of that I love seeing the kind of energy that a team like this brings to the yard every day day in and day out Victor robless in the box with one away as he takes ball [Applause] one on the ground right side and it finds its way through for aeit so they get a man aboard with a one out [Applause] single just a simple ground ball the other way that had eyes on it man sometimes that's all you need to do just let the ball travel put the ball in play and just hope it finds a and now a chance to maybe get creative on off with good speed on first man at first with one gone and now the right fielder Joey manessis in there for strike [Applause] one and the pitch in there at the knees that strike two that's a great take right there even though it's a strike with the situation runner on first base you want to keep the ball off the ground and you swing at that pitch most likely you roll into a double play in the dirt the tag and he's out at second kind of a tough read for the base runner right there you're usually trying to be aggressive on balls in the dirt trying to get into scoring position but if it doesn't get away very far or you can't tell how far it is most catchers are going to get to it and throw you out at the base and right there excellent job by the catcher he helps out his pitcher big [Applause] time back pitch inside and that's ball three and that's ball four that's a tough one to swallow right there if you're on the mound you're head in the count 02 and you just couldn't find a way to put him away it's back top of the second digging in Spencer Tolson taking high in the draft he's had that top prospect labeled over him since he put on a professional uniform but at some point that starts to go away and you've got to produce at the big league level there's the strike the Tigers selected Spencer Tolson number one overall in 2020 out of Arizona State and he rocked ed through their farm system made it to Triple A in his first pro season and then eventually made his big league debut the following year yeah tlon became the fourth Arizona State baseball player be drafted number one overall can you think of some of the other ones boo next pitch is in the dirt and it's one and two well I know that Bob her was a one-1 and I know Rick Monday was the first ever first overall pick yeah we also add Floyd Banister in 19 76 you know Arizona State's produced more number one overall picks than any other program in the country next one just misses ball [Applause] [Applause] three here comes a 3-2 the 3-2 is off the outside edge and that is ball four what a battle it's not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch and I tell you what he earned that wall and now Bader up to the plate and the first pitch misses for ball one rolled to short possible two ball slings to Second not in time at first it's a fielder's Choice tough play right there didn't really have enough time to set his feet and make a strong accurate throw had to rush it but he got it off and he got it there in time to get that out at second base here is Yan monata two for eight in the series so [Applause] far ball one no strikes no score here in the second snap throw to first Bader back [Applause] easily swing and a high fly ball out there towards left field puts the squeeze on it and there's two down that the short stop Taylor walls and now Taylor walls that one's in there o and one well if he's going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he's not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch oh he hit him and that got him pretty flush he had two strikes on him and he hit him boo you have any memorable hit by pitches yourself maybe high school college no but I almost did get decapitated by a foul ball at old Tiger Stadium [Applause] than and the Lefty with the 01 fouled off he was late first and second two down that one back up the middle and it gets through here comes Bader around third he'll score easily and it's one- nothing big swing of the bat right there to give him the lead that was clutch once you get the ball by the pitcher there's a lot of base hits up the middle even on ground balls so a nice job to use that big hole and get himself a hit first and second two outs now here is Rene Pinto pitch misses inside and it's w too [Applause] [Applause] two outs B good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with Runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch two on two outs [Applause] way out front for strike [Applause] two FW open a little bit with that front shoulder but was able to slow his back down just enough to make contact with that pitch keep the abat alive [Applause] and here it comes and now the count filled up three and two Manuel Margo up next for the [Applause] Rays in the air out towards Right Center messes brings it in for the third out but they pick up one run on the RBI single it's an early one- nothing lead you're dialed into the show on My Face bottom half of inning number two and stepping in is the Speedy Stone Garrett the W to kick the pitch just [Applause] [Applause] missed and now two and nothing he hasn't wanted to challenging both of those pitches off the plate away don't expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here that one's in there now two balls and a [Applause] strike sliced to right and there's a hit off to a good start with a leadoff KN showed some really nice pace six and that it bad worked himself into a good count showed a willingness to drive that pitch the opposite way didn't get jumpy didn't try to pull the ball he let it get deep took the barrel right to it and then extended through the swing for the line drive base hit and now let's see if they force some action with good Wheels on the [Applause] bases the one check swing did he go no good speed on the base pass he handles the bat very well I wouldn't be surprised if the Skipper puts on some type of hit and run or run and hit
