was Jake brownie actually good all ball no fluff let's get into it first play here um little dagger concept up here at the top got the post that's kind of a clear out this guy sitting underneath and we're going to have this receiver over here on the Deep dig nice shot by Browning here kind of feeling you know um or excuse me stepping up in the pocket despite having this cat Blitz in his face also bringing this linebacker here dropping this guy out really good job um Browning like I said stepping up in the pocket here you know he feels his Corner coming stepping up hitting that deep end on time accurately in Rhythm calm footwork in the pocket again despite the Blitz and because he sees it his eyes are looking to the left he's looking this way maybe checking to see what's going on with this x down here at the bottom again looks it off steps up in the pocket delivers a nice ball over the middle X play here 3 by one Bunch okay check out the ball placement on this throw let's let this thing play out my goodness now some coaches may be mad that he even attempted this right I don't like how you know if we're going to have that route up there at the top seven route Corner route you'd prefer to see something you know underneath kind of over in this area pulling this guy down to make this a little bit easier to throw for Browning but again I mean you know initially on the snap he's looking towards the bunch side he kind of got three guys running in the same area that's never a good thing and you know he gets off of that pretty quick checks the safeties with his eyes gets back to the backside watches watch him also reset his feet in the pocket right there and then just makes this crazy throw between this hole between this um underneath the fender and the safety here really good ball and you know I seen someone say on Twitter that you know Jake Browning wasn't actually good and that it was all Zack Taylor's play cause and that's kind of what prompted me to make this video and look I think both things can be true I think Zack Taylor did call some good games um but he also called some stinkers you know just like that last um one of the last plays I showed you where we had three guys running in the same place but this this play here this touchdown pass is an example of a good play call down in the Red Zone by Zack Taylor right you're going to have this tied end chipping out boxing out these Defenders getting mixing out here in the flat wide open for this touchdown and again you know Browning does his job puts it on uh the running back maybe throw it outside just to keep that momentum but he got the ball there nonetheless I think another thing I noticed when watching Browning he has a a really decent pocket presence about him right he's able to escape danger the very last second I mean you see here you know his left tackle gets beat inside kind of feels it and he's is able to escape roll out of the pocket and he keeps his eyes downfield and he's able to find his receiver tied in right there for a nice game next play here another example of ball placement look at this I mean you cannot put this football anywhere else other than where brownie puts it right here I think his tight end actually drops it I'm not sure I can't really tell yeah he drops it but again like the ball placement calm in the pocket with a with a you know a pocket that's kind of collapsing from from all angles here calm feet going through his progressions not there not there let me fire this ball in there to my tight end outside the numbers right on the money again where only he has a chance to catch it look at it here from this next view can I just show yeah I mean come on beautiful placement fortunately dropped by the tight end put this thing in slowmo got to catch that this next right here I like this this is good play recognition by Jake Browning okay he knows the Chiefs are up to something look you see this kind of guy out here kind of looking creeping in this guy creeping up they're going to drop some guys out on the left and send pressure from the right and Browning knows replace the Blitzer this guy blitzes over here guess what we're going to throw into this void where this guy was and that's exactly what happens okay 20 you 27 you want to a blitz no problem I'll just throw the ball where you were going to be for a nice game good stuff good play recognition there from Jake Browning this is on a fourth and 18 towards the end of the game obviously got to have it situation watch him step up and rip this thing over the middle another kind of dagger type concept here oh we my goodness she's kind of playing that umbrella coverage you know four deep soft spot will be over the middle and he hits it he hits that perfectly excuse me there boom calm footwork in the pocket one two three four five step drop one hitch two hitch let that thing rip convert to the first down next play here really nice job play action pass defender in his face he's still able to get this thing off over the middle for a nice gain and you know a lot of backup quarterbacks right here in this situation probably throw an interception they panic not Browning he's able to you know he initially looks left what what he wants is not there he's looking for this deep curl down here to number five it's not there so he gets back over to the middle lets that thing go off platform and takes a monster hit in doing so but really nice job from browning to keep the Play Alive to make a nice um play next play here nice job from browning using his eyes to manipulate this guy initially he's going to um after the snap Browning is going to look left that's going to get this guy to kind of you know you know Buzz over to the left a little bit opening the throwing window for this Receiver right here over the middle and Browning again use the eyes manipulate them nice throw over the middle although you would like to see better ball placement okay let's put this thing out in front of the receiver so Jamar Chase can maybe take this thing split these safeties go score a touchdown right throws the ball behind him but again nice job with his eyes just need a better ball better ball placement here then here we go again ball placement issues popping up this is a pick six okay got to make this easy throw it's here it's open let's do it right three-step drop back foot hits Ball's got to be out now and you know it is kind of out on time maybe a tad late but like we got to have better ball placement here the pocket is clean enough okay maybe initially looks left doesn't like it comes back got to have better ball placement this thing is took for a pick six because you know he throws his s to the left tight end tips it it's intercepted out of there this next right here is an example of Browning rushing through his progression okay another quick game concept right three-step drop one two three back foot hits ball needs to be out now to this wide open tight end in the flat it's just a curl flat combo concept here and for some reason Browning just kind of rushes through it he gets off of it super quick looks backside kind of you know gets a little bit of a happy feat and throws a panic ball to Joe Mixon that ends up being incomplete but again you know we got to make this completion here up top to the tight end you know if not let's hang in there you know reset our feet and hit this deep curl maybe throw this deep curl with some anticipation down here at the bottom and man I guess probably didn't have time to do that with this Loop in defensive lineman but nonetheless he rushes through his progressions on this play especially up top where he had that wide open tight end just gets off of it way too soon next Bight here again nice job with Jake Browning using his eyes to manipulate the defender watch him he's gonna he's gonna make this throw over the middle to number five there Higgins I believe and but what makes this Play Good by Browning is he's going to look left and that's going to get this Defender here to open up his hips towards this way so that he isn't able to break back on the ball over the middle so let's watch this here slow motion fake toss looking left looking left see how that defender's hips are flipped this way that opens up this throwing Lane over the middle right there boom good zip on the ball really nice job from browning next and final play here up top fade route receiver initially stems inside but it's going to kind of round this thing back outside and then Browning is going to drop this thing in the bucket towards the sideline from you know pretty much the far has drops it in a bucket the only thing you maybe want to see here maybe you know when you see this Defender get burn burnt that much okay that much maybe let's throw this thing a little further out here but again you know it looks like it was a fade route and he's taught to throw this thing kind of towards the sideline so you can't fault him too much it's a really nice throw a lot of air under it drops it in the bucket really nice job but you know all in all Jake Browning I think he's a high-end backup I think with the the part that you know his flaws his biggest flaw at times is ball placement and you just can't have ball placement issues in the NFL and be a starter so I think he can be a high-end backup a spot starter that can certainly win you games in certain situations as he's shown or as he showed last year but nonetheless um you know Bengals have a really good backup for Joe burrow in case he goes down again because he has showed that you know he has had multiple health problems so you never know Jake Browning may be called upon again I appreciate you guys watching peace
