BUT YES, IT'S LOOKING VERY NICE IN THE SHORT TERM. IN THE LONGER TERM, WE'RE A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT MAY BE A TROPICAL DEPRESSION DEVELOPING IN THE GULF OF MEXICO, BUT THINGS ARE LOOKING GREAT AT THE SUPERDOME RIGHT NOW. WDSU FIRST WARNING RADAR ACTUALLY PICKING UP ON A COUPLE OF TINY, TINY LITTLE SPRINKLES SOUTH OF THE METRO AREA. SO I'LL JUST POINT THAT OUT. OBVIOUSLY, IF ONE OF THOSE PASSED OVER YOU, YOU WOULDN'T NEED AN UMBRELLA FOR IT. 69 IN BOGALUSA, 73 IN BATON ROUGE. IT'S COOLER, IT'S BREEZY, IT'S LESS HUMID. IT'S VERY COMFORTABLE. 72 THE CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN SLIDELL. BUT LOOK AT OUR CURRENT CONDITIONS AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 61. THAT'S OUR DEW POINT. DRIER AIR IN PLACE. WINDS FROM THE NORTH NORTHEAST AT 15. SO WE HAVE A BIT OF A BREEZE. FEELS COMFORTABLE. HERE'S THE COLD FRONT TO THE SOUTH OF US. WE WERE WORRIED. WE THOUGHT MAYBE IT'D GET HERE AND STALL OUT. THAT HASN'T HAPPENED. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE THESE TWO FRONTS KIND OF IN PLACE FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. AND REMEMBER THAT, BECAUSE THAT'S PROBABLY GOING TO PLAY A PART IN OUR FORECAST NEXT WEEK. HERE IT IS, APPROXIMATELY 750 MILES AWAY FROM US AREA OF CLOUDINESS. THAT'S LIKELY GOING TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION LATER ON TODAY. NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MENTIONED EARLIER THAT THEY HAVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT FLYING AROUND, SO AT ANY POINT THEY COULD CALL IT A TROPICAL DEPRESSION, COULD EVEN BECOME A TROPICAL STORM, MAYBE BEGINNING NEXT WEEK. IT'S A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE, NOT VERY WELL ORGANIZED, BUT IT'S GENERALLY HEADING IN OUR DIRECTION. HURRICANE CENTER SAYS THERE'S AN 80% CHANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. 90% CHANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. ALL RIGHT. THIS IS THE MAP I DON'T LIKE SHOWING BECAUSE IT SHOWS OBVIOUSLY, THE COMPUTER MODELS TAKING IT UP TOWARD TEXAS AND TAKING IT IN OUR GENERAL DIRECTION. THE QUESTION IS WHAT IS THIS GOING TO BE AS IT GETS CLOSER TO US NEXT WEEK? FIRST OF ALL, IT'S FOCUSED VERY CLOSE TO LAND. THAT'S A GOOD THING. SECOND OF ALL, IT'S GOING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH A COLD FRONT. I THINK, ON TUESDAY. SO AS FAR AS MAJOR DEVELOPMENT GOES, I THINK THAT'S FAIRLY UNLIKELY. BUT HAVING SAID THAT, I THINK RIGHT NOW WE SHOULD ENJOY OUR SAINTS SUNDAY AND THEN PLAN ON SOME BAD WEATHER BEING HERE TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. HOW BAD YET TO BE DETERMINED. LET'S LOOK AT THE COMPUTER MODELS. THIS IS THE GFS AND THIS IS USUALLY A PRETTY RELIABLE ONE. THERE'S YOUR TUESDAY RAIN COMING IN. HERE'S YOUR WEDNESDAY MORE RAIN COMING IN. YOUR THURSDAY. ALSO LOOKING VERY WET FOR US UNTIL WE GET TO LATE IN THE DAY. THEN IT LOOKS LIKE SOME DRIER WEATHER SHOULD BE MOVING IN. SO YOUR FORECAST FOR TODAY AGAIN, ENJOY THE SAINTS SUNDAY PARTLY CLOUDY, BREEZY, LESS HUMID. ONE SHOWER POSSIBLE. CLOSE TO THE COAST, BUT I THINK THAT WOULD BE LESS THAN A 10% CHANCE AT THIS POINT. PARTLY CLOUDY, STILL COMFORTABLE FOR US TONIGHT. TOMORROW MORNING WAKING UP IN THE 60S ON THE NORTH SHORE AND TOMORROW WE COULD HAVE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON, BUT I THINK THE NORTH SHORE IS GOING TO BE ALMOST COMPLETELY DRY. CHANCE FOR RAIN OFFICIALLY AT ABOUT 20 TO 30%. ALTHOUGH WE WILL LIKELY HAVE A COUPLE OF COASTAL SHOWERS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. ALL RIGHT. TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE THEM.
