the end of daylight saving time in the US will occur on November 3rd 2024 with cell phone clocks falling back an hour in the middle of the night the US Department of Transportation oversees the observance of daylight saving time but cannot change or end the twice a year changing of the clocks the uniform time act of 1966 allows states to exempt themselves from Daylight Saving Time by observing permanent Standard Time year round only Hawaii and Arizona observe Standard time all year primarily due to the abundance of daylight in the state several states have proposed laws to abolish daylight Saving Time permanently but Federal lawmakers have tried multiple times to stop the clocks two other Daylight Saving Time related bills have also been stalled unless any of these bills pass Congress people in Hawaii or Arizona will have to gain an hour of sleep on November 3rd
