Grace Courbis - Artist Spotlight

my name is Grace corbis and I was born in Chile America in general was uh had to go and endure this different um governments and dictatorships and um because of it uh great talent was born so um I've always had a passion for Tango um I grew up in Chile and Tango was always part of our family celebrations uh my grandfather used to dance with my grandmother and my uncles and aunts um it was also a way of celebrating um and it was a dance I was born out of Oppression and it was a forbidden dance that uh no matter how much you tried to be silen and prohibited and still I was able to overcome all of it so this actually were uh were friends that posed for me and um I wanted to capture the emotion of Tango the feeling behind it like this one piece um Shadows is because it was born in the shadows it was it was danced in the shadows in the comenos which was these boarding houses for all these immigrants um and and they were not allowed to do so so uh it sort of inspired that that in spite of it they still did it in in quite a beautiful way this is a wonderful place it's uh everybody here is U so professional and and helpful and uh warm and it'll be for all you new artists uh go for it do it from the heart do what inspires you and what a great venue that allows you to share your art and your passion with the world
