familiar story just a different sport Kathy thanks very much Rob now with the weather here's Paul Higgins thanks very much Kathy well if you think it's been a relatively mild winter so far there's more to come the National Climate Center predicting a 65% chance of a warmer than normal August through to October as if the garden not confused already enough about what season this is a cold start to the day single digit lows throughout as you can see there but coldest at FS Creek and mount hoam onus 4 today there was light rain everywhere except for the mle in East gips Land one thgy was a top scorer with 10 mm and 15° the high at a number of spots around the metro area highs were pretty close to normal for this time of year though that Westerly wind made it feel pretty cold at times City temperatures ranged from 7.7 to 14.8 just after 1:00 it is currently 11: in town and while it might be mild here look at Alis Springs and also broom there's going to be a lot of tourists wearing Goosebumps with their t-shirts and this is a record 95 mm of rain in broom overnight that is more than the highest ever recorded total for the whole of July but it all came in 24 hours there as an upper trough kept that rain coming across the interior a cold front is down there crossing Tasmania that front is going to push up to the Northeast overnight and that will keep that very vigorous southwesterly Airstream going but as this very large High Lumbers its way East we're going to see a slow clearing Trend by the weekend however it will be cold again in the Alis tomorrow with more rain there and cool with showers and Hobart but it should be a fine Wednesday elsewhere in Southern New South Wales fine in the west but Cloudy with a few showers in the East a gale warning is still current tonight for Coastal Waters east of Wilson's perometry with a strong wind warning to the West scattered showers over Southern and Mountain Victoria local morning fogs in the north and a cloudy Wednesday throughout the state with a fresh wind along the coast particularly the eastern half of the coast of course threes overnight at Swan Hill and wangara and mostly around 13 to 14° for a high tomorrow West Southwest Le on The Bays will reach 25 knots at times and waves to 1 and 1/2 M well a few spots of rain around Melbourne again tonight and tomorrow and a fresh wind at times too it certainly will be a Cloudy Wednesday 7 overnight and we'll double it to a top of 14 for tomorrow after that a few showers coming in on Thursday becoming fine Friday and fine after early fog on Saturday with highs of 14 right through the next few days so it looks like no sign of any icy winter blasts for the time being thanks Paul and that's the latest from the ABC Newsroom we'll be back with updates throughout the evening next up the 7:30 Report with Maxine McHugh from The Newsroom for the moment good night [Music] [Music] the [Music]
