Netflix is developing a sequel series to the Beloved 2000's drama One Tree Hill according to sources this news has excited fans eager to revisit the iconic characters and the small town of Tree Hill North Carolina original Stars Sophia Bush Hillary Burton and Daniel akles not to be confused with Bethany Joy lens who played Haley James Scott and whose husband is Michael galotti are set to Executive produce the reboot akles will produce the series through her production company chaos machine alongside her husband Jensen Ackles Becky Hartman Edwards known for her work on Firefly Lane and Parenthood has been tapped to write and executive produce the sequel Warner Brothers television the studio that produced The Original Series will also be involved in the production while there is no official word yet on whether other original cast members will join fans are hopeful Sophia Bush and Hillary Burton are expected to reprise their roles as Brook Davis and Payton Sawyer respectively with Daniel akles also in discussions to return however there is no confirmation on the involvement of Chad Michael Murray James laferty or other key cast members from the original series the original One Tree Hill aired for nine successful Seasons from 2003 to 2012 on the WB and later on the CW the show centered on the lives of half Brothers Lucas Scott Chad Michael Murray and Nathan Scott James laferty their friends and their complex relationships over the years it garnered a devoted fan base drawn to its mix of High School drama romance and family Dynamics in recent years Bush Burton and lens reunited for the rewatch podcast drama queens which allowed them to reminisce about their time on the show however Burton left the podcast after season 6 with Robert Buckley joining as a host later on notably Mark Schwan the original creator of One Tree Hill will not be involved in the sequel Series in 2017 Schwan faced allegations of assault and harassment from Burton and other cast members which led to his exclusion from the new project this decision marks a conscious effort to ensure a safer and more positive environment for the cast and crew
