Mazda Rising Legends: Kaylee Wilmot-Joe

[Music] you always have to think Seven Generations behind and several Generations ahead so the Seven Generations behind have been through a lot so now we have to think of how can we make the next seven be [Music] better my name is kayy wont Joo and I'm From esino First Nation right now I'm a middle school teacher here at our community school but I also volunteer at our youth center um in our Sports programs step to the net there good job Bentley I started skating when I was four and then I joined hockey in grade six and I just played all the sports here that I'm now offering to the kids they're all sports that I played when I was here since I was old enough to coach they had me start with the young kids so in my last year when I was 19 I was coaching and playing at the same time when she's coaching she's one of the kids she loves having fun and and teaching them and and with Kaye she has that big smile on her face every time she's out there right [Music] I feel like I'm showing them what they're able to do having these opportunities kind of just proves to them that they can do it too so that as I get older someone will want to step up and do what I'm doing to keep passing it on cooking classes happen every Thursday it's life skills but it's also keeping them fed cuz a lot of the times they only meals at lunch here I think having this opportunity to be a rising Legend will help help grow what we have started I wanted to get more supplies compared to what we have right now so that our initiatives can grow so more people can come and more people can participate I'm hoping that the kids I'm working with right now will want to come and try and volunteer themselves they need to realize to keep something going that they need to take initiative to and start providing it for the next group I always say they're my kids they're like why won't you have kids I'm like I have 50 I already have 50 kids
