DJ and PK don't miss your chance to win every week and you can win big on the Zone this week on win ticket Wednesday you're going to have a chance to win tickets the de leopard at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater on September 10th listen The Zone all day Wednesday for your chance to win djpk we're joined Now by Darnell Dixon BYU football columnist for the daily Herold Darnell good morning good morning boys what's going on football football we had a bunch of blowouts Colorado played a close game are we going to have another blow in Provo Saturday night cougar fans would like to know yeah pretty much everyone would like to know I think I think that you know it's an interesting phenomenon during fall camp that every team and every player is kind of the best version of themselves as as they look to improve over the previous year and you know if if everything happens the way it's supposed to yeah it'll be a blowout but it rarely does so I guess it comes down to how many things miwu could have taken care of that were problems the previous year in that first game and we'll see we'll see what happens you got the youths doing what they're supposed to do blowing out suu so all youth fans feel good about it because it wasn't close and it's not just for BYU to get the win I mean that's the ultimate objective but people are going to judge it styly with these games and I don't even know styly is a word but if it's not I just made it up and I don't like stylistic I know stylistic is a word but I like style better and it looks like that because of Portland State and Sam Houston that those were games against Lester competition that the offense didn't look overwhelming it looks like for at least for the fans sake and maybe for the psyche of the team that they've got to win comfortably 30 40 points how much do you buy that theory I I think there's some validity to that and you mentioned a couple of really good indicator uh Portland State was 2017 I believe and not a very impressive Victory and BYU had a really poor season and last year Sam Houston was moving up from FCS to FBS um and you know B you took the opening kickoff marched down scored a touchdown and everyone thought okay everything's under control and then the Cougars only won that game 14 nothing and Sam Houston went on to lose I think it's first eight games of the year so um yeah it's it's going to be an indicator and Southern Illinois is a good FCS program but they're replacing um a lot of good Defenders on a defense that was really good they're replacing their all-time leading passer um I I I think BYU fans would be pretty upset and the Cougars themselves would be upset if SEL Illinois can score with on a couple of touchdowns against that BYU defense and and the cougar offense needs to put up points they need to run the ball and need to get the ball to their Playmakers and it does need I think to be a little bit you know one of those games that they win by a lot so that BYU fans can rest a little bit easier because obviously the schedule gets a lot tougher uh starting the next week when BYU goes to SMU When A team's going to dominate that means a group or an individual player is going to dominate who do you have the most faith and confidence in that they are going to go out and absolutely blow the doors off everything Saturday night and we'll be in here on Monday morning saying yep so and so did it that's a really question I hadn't really thought of it quite that way I I probably would choose the whole defensive side of the ball as as a group that really should dominate um yet they did lose Ben Bywater who would have been a great playmaker at linebacker but I think they've got plenty of of Playmakers on that side of the ball I think Jacob Robinson might be one of the better Corners in in the Big 12 and uh they've kind of worked on the defensive line to get some more pressure and that's kind of going to be something to watch as well can they put more pressure on the quarterback and we you know we talked to the coaches a lot about the Run game and and Aaron rodri said it's 11 man deal it's not just the offensive line of the running backs everybody has to do their job and I think the pass rush kind of fits that that mold as well um you've got to get good pressure from your front you've got to get great coverage on the back end and and make the quarterback uncomfortable and not be able to go to his first option every time so I think the defense will really set the tone tomorrow uh I think they'll come out and and hit and and make big plays and get some turnover overs and and hopefully the offense can pick up on that and get some scores and get some confidence but I I think the defense I I think the whole defense is going to be what we I think most thing about BYU fans will be talking about the next day yeah especially either good if they get pressure on the quarterback get some sacks and hurries and all that stuff or bad if they don't so right it's almost like it's a no win because if you do W it's against Sil illino but if you don't it's like my gosh you couldn't get it against Southern Illinois what is wrong with you people so coming off of a season like they had they haven't earned the benefit of the doubt they haven't like Utah they've earn the benefit of the doubt people are expecting them to do well and when they do well it's like see and so I'm wondering do you feel like the players and the coaches sense that and are really looking for a blowout to maybe exhale a little bit Yeah I think that that's a good point too and and you look at how last season worked um you know they had the win against Sam Houston to start they went down to Arkansas and got a victory and and the Razer backs weren't great but it was still an SEC win and they go into the first Big 12 game two and one and Kansas just kind of ran them out of the um out of the field on the second half with the Run game and there were some blowouts some games that BYU was not competitive in which was a little bit surprising to me that it happened that way uh and then the last two games of the Season against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State I think the Cougars figured some things out um they played you know had within a play of probably winning both of those games so I think they take some strength from that that that they they can uh put together some some good moments on both offense and defense and and they've worked hard they've tried to correct some of those errors with the the Run game and uh the run defense and you know they brought in more than 60 new players last year but between the transfer portal and freshman and return missionaries and I think that really played Havoc with them trying to get things together and everybody on the same page and this year they brought in less than half that number of new players so they're running with the guys that that they brought and and they feel like that kind of continuity and experience is really going to help so getting a good experience in that first game where they get validated for all the effort they put into trying to correct the issues would certainly go a long way and creating a season that is much better than than what they did in 2023 are you figuring redl is getting the start are you thinking it's Bohanan are you getting there early she can get the BX and stare down and watch warm-ups and figure it out what do you think well yeah I I think most of us uh and I know some of the people I've talked to and some of the sources that you know after spring Gary Gary had uh you know just he just came back from that that shoulder engine was his first action and so Jake redlu was the starter coming out of spring and then banan made up some ground in the summer and had really good start to fall camp but from what we've learned uh Jake retof had a really good second couple of weeks leading up to this game and has kind of taken that I think he's going to be the starter but I really think it's important for rlof to get some time it's been a long time since he's played he got injured in the middle of the 2022 season and missed all of 2023 so um you know at first I was kind of thinking maybe they should start bannan then they've got rlof to come off the bench should should their emergency arise and you've got an experienced quarterback that has played recently that can do that um but it looks like redoff will probably be the starter but they they would like to get in a position where bannan can get some playing time just to knock the rust off from having not played um you know comparing the two I think R offs may be a little more accurate U maybe under understands the offensive system a bit better Bon's may be more of a big play guy both with his feet and and down the field when he throws the ball so we'll see what what we'll see on Saturday but it would be very good for BYU if they could get that second quarterback in the game yeah I agree uh it looks like as I look at the Personnel offensively and defensively the players that need to play well we already know who they are and I'm wondering did you see or sense any anybody that maybe is a little under the radar because sometimes it happens where like when LJ Martin we weren't sure what to expect from him and he gets out there and he's like oh wow this kid looks good right from the start and now here he is expected to be for the next couple years anyway the best running back do you see anybody like that that maybe we're not talking about as much but has the ability to emerge because I think there'll be some body if not multiple kids that will emerge a little bit better than we think right now yeah I think there's a couple of guys that said that mod one of them is probably Logan loule a defensive end who's really come on in Fall Camp um Isaiah B and Tyler bad are the starters probably but Logan's going to get some playing time and he's really impressed the coaches with his ability and quickness and and play making the other guy I'm thinking of is somebody that I remember watching at Bingham High Isaiah Glaser a tall linebacker he's 6'5 um he played defensive back then but when I saw him in high school he was the best athlete on the field in the games he played and so he's a sophomore now a sophomore so he's third year in the system I think he's going to start one of the linebacker spots and he's made some plays in Fall camp that are just amazingly athletic and and I I think he's a guy that that could definitely uh on defense make some big plays and get BYU some some momentum out there football rosters are so big there's so many guys who have to play that when you get to the summer and everyone's positive but there's some things and especially doing it for a while you just think yeah I just can't buy that I just can't buy it so when you look at BYU it's not going to be all roses they're not going 12 and0 what part can't you buy here what's the problem going to be you think well there's a couple of things one of the things that comes to mind is the offensive line uh they've made some changes they brought in a new offensive line coach and TJ Woods brought in a new tight end Coach they have some new players um and you the reports that we're hearing from the coaches and players is that that the offensive Line's going to be good but we thought that last year and they actually have uh you know Kingsley Su mat is going to start as a rookie for the Kansas City Chiefs they had him on that offensive line and they still had issues running the ball and and and creating holes and and protecting the quarterback back so I'm not buying yet the offensive line because I got to see it first and and if they dominate Southern Illinois that'll that'll give me um a little bit of indication that they've improved but then they've they've got tougher tests coming up and they'll have to do that in a big 12 play um I don't know I think they've got some starters back I like um I like that they've got way lauu coming back and Conor pay center is really good main stay um they say Kaya beten has gotten better and he looked a little lost last year but he's 68 320 and he he can play if he's if he's gotten improved and the other part of it is just the quarterback play because certainly last year when Jake redoff came in it was a tough you know those four games he started against Big 12 competition and and he had some good moments but he also had some spectacularly bad moments so those are a couple of areas on the offensive side are they going to be able to run the ball efficiently and that's an 11-man deal as we said and if Jake gof is the starters we anticipate can he avoid that big turnover can he move the team and and find the ball because I think they've got some Playmakers on that side of the ball if they can get that taken care of so that that's probably the main thing I'm looking at and not quite buying yet is is that offensive line going to be better looking forward to that glorious pregame meal are you one of those guys who just rebels in it do you usually does it ight I don't know what's coming up tomorrow but I hear tonos it's always always it's always tonos and you know my brother comes down from Idaho with his family to come to games and they always want to go out to to lunch or dinner before and I always tell them sorry I can't I got tanos coming up see there it is priorities toos toos veteran media member right there that's the veteran Play Good Work Dar what's the deal I I read in their thing that they don't have tables back there to sit for you to eat you got to go to your seat no there's tables there Oh I thought I thought they I thought I read that you had to go eat at your seat Well they in 2020 you did during the pandemic they they made little boxes of the food for you pick up the box and then sign for it and then go sit by your seat but I don't know maybe they've changed that you know they they keep taking away stuff from the media we have to sit up at Concourse for the basketball games so maybe maybe they took away our tables too all right well we want to see some photos and some tweets we got to get to the bottom of this before kickoff the public on I'm sure is dying to know I'm on it I'll be doing it at a kid Darnell thank you we appreciate it all right FS have a great day Darnell Dixon Bo football columnist for the Daily Herald joining us right here on the Zone coming up after the break Pablo masteran RSL head coach this is the worst stretch of the season right here San Jose that was terrible at home there've been some bad performances on the road got to turn things around after the last half dozen games we'll talk with Pablo masteron about that next stay with us this is Jake Scott and Ben Anderson I just saw the reports yesterday that BYU is not naming a starting quarterback does this imply that the offense is somewhat significantly different between the two quarterbacks bahanan or RL no this implies that colani at one point coached under Kyle Winningham and by that I mean it almost complimentary that coach Wht will switch the flavor of his Gatorade if it feels like it will give him any sort of edge so I believe they know who their quarterback is I believe they've known that for a minute they're prep preparing for the game and even they basically admit that they're just doing it to play games but I believe the same thing I believe since the beginning that redl will be the guy because somehow he helps the Run game he's the multifaceted quarterback or whatever and he's going to help him run the ball here Jake Scott and Ben Anderson every day from 10 to no on 975 the KSL Sports s nominate the Youth Sports volunteer that you know for the hercu here the week submit your nomination at KSL sports.com contest and listen every Thursday afternoon to JJ noox for the winner help us celebrate the efforts of those volunteers making an impact with the Hercules here of the week and it's SP sponsored by Hercules First Credit Union and behive meals DJ and PK it's 975 The Zone we just had Darnell Dixon on talking BYU football anything he say resonate with with you you thought yes Dar every single thing really yes Darnell's just he's always a good interview actually I know he is uh very well spoken I think that uh it's it's something that BYU needs to come out and just look good look good that's the goal I mean if you don't win then you're in all sorts of trouble but pass the eyeball test yeah and I think it's important for them to look good and this is a unlike uh most places if not just about every place in the world in sports is that you're always compared against your brother and I don't want to hear about Big Brother little brother it doesn't matter you're in a in a in a sense you're twins BYU and Utah and they're always compared against each other be Utah passed the test now Utah has to or be way you has to djpk it's 975 The Zone we're joined Now by Pablo masteran RSL head coach Pablo good morning good morning guys so Pablo when things aren't going well and you know one point in the last four MLS games that whole cliche about not sleeping is that true do you find yourself tossing and turning what should we change tactically what should I say to this player what should I say to that player or you're pretty much a mess all the time and there's really no difference no I I think the uh there's I would say there's more deliberate thinking um when when you're not getting results in other words to your point is you're you want to you want to find tune your focus and is it individual players is it the collective is it the tactics um and and I think it's all of it it's all of it and and I think the N the next most important thing is how you deliver it right because everyone is obviously frustrated it's not just you as the coach that's frustrated um everyone's frustrated and so I think if you want to get your message across in a way that's going to be received the right way it's got to be done from a place of empathy a place of really wanting to to to make change and you embodying the change that you want to make right and so um so that's been a lot of a lot of work and and to be fair um there's been so many different places to look um and it's almost all encompassing because we've had a lot of off the- field stuff we've had a couple injuries and and now we have you know five new players into the group come arriving at different times and so there's just so many variables at the moment to try to put your finger on it but I I I really feel good about the work that we did this week um and and and I expect a a a much improved performance a much more confident performance and hopefully uh it lends itself to a a great result and you do have a lot of things going on you just mentioned some of them I'm wondering is uh at the top of the list or near the top of the list some of these soft what I would consider soft goals that you've been able to that that not been able but that the team has allowed because it seems like that's just putting you in a massive hole yeah no you're spot on PK again and and and and that's what's happened the last two games in particular where we are um we're losing the ball in really bad spots and uh you know we're conceding and so in the first 20 minutes of games we last two games we've been down two zero and that's again an enormous uh feat to to overcome in in in in this game and so you know one of the things tactically again is from a coaching perspective is we don't want to change the way we play we want to change the way that the guys think about managing the early stages of the game right because again if you can if we can weather that 15minute storm whilst creating chances for ourselves you will naturally be more confident to approach the game if it's not if you're not down two Z and it's Z Zer and there's things to fight for um I think when you're in a bad way um the the the last thing you can afford to do is give up goals right because especially if you haven't scored in the last two games right so it's the Chicken and the Egg and and important for us uh from a coaching perspective is again is to put the guys in a position that's really clear as to how we want to manage the first 15 20 minutes of games we want to be we want to be very proactive but at the same time we have to be cognizant that if we lose the ball in this spot we can concede and so how do we maintain our our game model our style of play um whilst being cognizant of managing the important moments of games and we spent some time with that uh you know this week and the guys have took it on well and and again I think the most important thing is in these moments is to check for understanding because a lot of the information might be delivered in a way that is um there might be a little bit of frustration and so you know the deliveries is has been really important but those moments in the beginning of the games PK as you rightly pointed out H have cost us in the last two on the one hand the guys are really good because if you're you're in first place for 10 15 20 games you got a play you got a lot of players who are good and they're playing at a high level and to fans there's a lot of hero worshiping that's part of being a fan is putting them up on a pedestal then you go through six games where there's one win one draw and four losses and so many players are making mistakes giving the ball away not recovering making the recovery run to play defense the goalkeeper gives up the soft goal whatever it might be and guys do get down on themselves how much do you have to cheerlead and remind players you are good quit moping don't let the shoulders droop because you become Your Own Worst Enemy if you're only playing the 60% of your potential yeah no that's a great Point uh DJ I I think in the way again from from my reading and and and and what I know about psychology is that the Flow State oper you know when we talk about this guy's in the zone right um in those in those 15 to 20 weeks when we were flying everyone was operating from a place of flow right so basically the floorb brain the the the thinking brain was shut off and the subconscious took over right so it is almost like even from a coaching perspective it was like nothing that we did was wrong from a coaching perspective it was just all flow and we and everyone was just kind of vibing right the players on the field the whole group um but all of a sudden I I think those moments where you have a couple setbacks now you start to overthink and now you start to the you know the the the thinking brain takes over and now and and the reason that's a bad thing is because if you make a mistake then you start thinking oh what are they thinking about me now um you know am I really this good are we really this good and so that starts to again hijack the ability to then operate from a place of flow and and in the last two performances and I've seen that it looks almost lethargic and what I'll tell you is it isn't a lack of effort it's a l it's it's for me it's overthinking and so when you're overthinking you're not doing and when you're not doing then you're reactionary and so the the biggest thing and from a tactical perspective it's been really interesting because I I watched you know I watched our session back from um from Wednesday and I and I sat I sat at home and I was going through and I said well you know what the biggest problem is from a tactical perspective uh when we conceed the goals our back line starts to lag and so we want compaction from front to back but when the back line lags now the passes into our Midfield are over like 15 20 yards and if those passes get cut out then we have five guys behind the ball and we have five guys in front of the ball and those guys that are in front of the ball that can't recover we can't repress in a way to get back our energy to win the ball back to then start another attack because the lines are too great and so we've worked on moving our back line up and just by doing that the intensity in the repress has been greater because the distances between the players are shorter and so we're able to win the ball back and then you start to see the same intensity that we had over the course of those 20 games when we were flying so just from that tactical tweak um I think we're going to get a lot of and and and then the other part is is that when we're that close we can then find our 10 we can find our fours we can find our Wingers um whereas before we were just literally the the backline the back three were sagging 20 yards off the Midfield line or the first line of pressure and they were just passing it across the back when we're down to zero and I'm thinking do these guys not want to win the game what's going on here and it was basically a structural fix that I think will add to the mentality to the mindset to a place of flow because there's G there might be more turnovers but there's going to be turnovers in a in in a area of the field that we can actually repress win it and attack a disorganized defense I don't know how else to say this but when have you seen enough before you make Personnel changes yeah well there'll be quite a few uh for this next game um and again I think it's it's so tough because it's a collective sport but within that you know there's individual performances and it it all ties in and and so we we'll be making uh probably three four changes uh to the group that went out uh last weekend um and again it's not it it's not on those three or four guys it's just how do we put guys in that aren't that that are showing daytoday that they're ready for an opportunity and and sometimes you just need to do that to to to flip the mindset and give the guys that maybe are overthinking a little bit in these moments and aren't performing at the level um just a breather and so you know that that oftentimes helps as well so I think just a couple tactical tweaks a couple you know Personnel changes and uh you know hopefully we've we we found the right uh the right ingredients to to changing this this momentum that we're in whether it's uh picking your friends when you're you know eight or 10 years old or playing professional sports there tend to be people who help the group Excel people who are dragg on a drag on the group and then there's a group in the middle that doesn't really lead and can kind of go either way based on what the strongest personalities do and I think watching RSL early in the year either Chicho scoring or Gomez Who's now playing in France but Andres Gomez beating some guy down the line it felt like it put a jolt of electricity through the whole group like look at that guy we are we are go so now with Andres gone does Chicho recapture that does one of the new guys provide that where there's just a moment of individual Brilliance and it puts a charge through the whole group and they all follow that moment yeah who is that who is that guy yeah that's that that's that's a great question question DJ and again you know Chicho's been now you know he came out of the last game with a hamstring so it it won't be Chicho this weekend um the one thing I will say is that Diego has looked better and better uh with every training session you know he's prolific in front of goal um and we just got to again we as a group have to get the ball in that area and maintain pressure for you know for for a good amount of time to create multiple chances from one attacking one attacking go um and you know the the other thing too is like Diego I think could be that guy Diego Luna is coming back into the the lineup as well which is another guy that we missed uh last weekend and so I think those two guys have formed a good partnership but you know integrating new guys into the group it just takes time right because they're in a new country in a new league in and amongst a new team playing a different style so whilst we expect these guys come in and contribute right away it's not realistic um but but I feel really good about the you know his Diego's integration into the group and I feel that when we have Diego Chicho and moon on the field we could be a prolific attacking team and and to your point you know I remember when when Chicho first got here Jay glad said to me he goes man he goes I have no doubt that we're going to win games and I said well why now and he said well we have Chicho he can score at any point in change the game and when you have that type of belief then you become a better back line uh um and and and and so at the end of the day you know football for me is is is really simple it's making plays in both boxes so a lot of the stuff in the middle is entertainment but the the the the game is one and loss inside the boxes and so if you're not if you're not conceding poor goals and you're making plays in the Box you know we're going to win games and and that's really the focus this week were you jamming a slightly stupid a couple weeks back yeah actually yeah actually it's funny that you ask that PK I went to the concert um a couple weeks back yeah and I'm actually wearing the shirt that I picked up at the concert today he's so dialed in it's just you know there's a power there's a force in the universe some people have it some people have it some people don't PK has it he's he's connected we're connected to the universe it's funny I assume it was good then uh it was a great show great show and there's a there's uh there's a ton of people all different ages all it was it was a really cool show really cool show Pablo we appreciate the time as always good luck Saturday night at home against New England and then there's a break for international play so nobody wants to take this Vibe into two weeks that's just depressing gotta gotta change the vibe there you go we'll do that appreciate it guys thank you Pablo Pablo masteron RSL head coach join us here on the zone you can hear the game Saturday night 7:30 pregame show at 6:30 New England's coming off a 5-n win over Montreal they've had a bad start but they have been playing pretty well the last three three four weeks DJ PK we're taking a break when we come back college football is in the air how about those Utes we'll talk about their opener next stay with us hey bro you hear us every day do an incredible job this is 975 the KSL Sports Zone it's always nice to shut someone out I mean that's the ultimate goal for a defense you know we made some plays over there we had one reception but of two or three sacks maybe four sacks so we made some plays we really controlled the game with our defense really never you know they got a couple runs out out on us but never really gave up any sustained drive and of course didn't give up a score so catch first to 12 12 Sundays from 10: a.m. to noon here on the Zone it's brought you by Macy's grocery store get the freshest fruits and vegetables from local farms and your favorite local Brands Macy's happy shopping it was easy for Utah to blow out Southern Utah they get the shut out on defense the offense scores on five straight possessions did you see anything you can take away there PK or was that just a gigantic scrimmage there's a lot of yelling and screaming from the fans in the stands and everybody went home and we'll start to learn real stuff next week oh this is a real good football team what do we need to learn though that what's out there that we don't know they're really good running the ball Dorian singer is really that guy and for a lot of people cam Rising is healthy and looks like cam Rising not favoring the knee and keithy being you know explosive showing toughness not favoring you know his injury we already knew that well now we know it if you didn't know it before you know it now if those guys are healthy they'll be a fine team and I don't know that they'll win all the games and all that stuff but I mean what what is discoverable here maybe dejon Stanley would be the biggest surprise to date but when you have a team that returns these many guys in set positions they ought to be good now the Johnson kid the what he come over from Georgia Tech I think it was he walked right by me after the game and it doesn't look good I he was on crutches the knee was in the brace and all I would suspect that that's a major injury I'm not a doctor I don't want to report that and Kyle said this so he said it doesn't Kyle said it didn't look good and if looking good I think we all assume means season ending surgery right and in that case Kyle confirm that Monday at his press conference in all probability yeah so they'll move the other Johns back over to Corner which he played last year but that's going to happen what was it like few years back I think it was was it on the first offensive play from scrimmage Kenneth Scott went down if I remember correctly was it against Utah State or somebody very quickly one season he did yeah so and Cam went down I mean it was a 2020 season so he didn't notice but he went down quickly yeah one quarter one game yeah so those things are going to happen I think at this Point that's if I'm looking for something to derail the team that's what it's going to be as far as this goes a lot of things are set in place and they've been set in place for a good while with this ball club and this is what we're expecting and so they're delivering after they've got they'll have 12 tests uh 13 14 beyond that I don't know we'll see because I don't know who's going to be 13 who's going to be 14 if there's a 14 uh the I look him at as tests and clearly they were going to pass this test that was ever going to be any question and they to what degree did they pass it well they per passed it with the proverbial flying colors I don't know how else you would say that uh you know if Cam goes down all bets are off and he's going to keep running so that seemed pretty clear not going to stop him Kyle didn't like the contact and cam just totally Shrugged it off game yeah yeah you know when he when he starts running he nor normally doesn't run toward the sideline he sees a crease left side right side and he's going to take it uh maybe slide I think that about the only thing you can have him do is try to slide yeah Brandon Rose slid he got in at the end and he slid combination of don't get hurt keep the clock running that type of thing he slid Rising has got to figure out a way is that what he wants to do because in that game any yards that he were to gain were not necessary in terms of getting the victory there's going to be a time he and I had this argument a year ago in Vegas about in the SC game about running and he felt like I got to get the first down I said okay okay but that was fine and he took the big shot and the helmet went off but he did pop up off that is you're trying to reduce the odds but you you can't play wanting to avoid injury it's just not the way because there's going to be times he's going to have to take off and get a first down and what have you and he's going to do it it it's the Natural Instinct of folks in heated competition and it'll never change so all you can do is just hope that he doesn't get that injury because they don't really they don't have much behind them Wilson can become all that in a bag of chips but not now that seemed well again to things that you probably already know but now you've seen it with the two picks and the touchdown and that's great have 10 picks that means you're playing that was the time right yeah that was the time right and anything he does I'm not going to make longstanding evaluation judgments I don't care what he does I just like the fact that he does it because get experience Steve Young threw 14 interceptions in a game I think when he was uh youngster and then he was a superstar so who cares I throw him get him picked I just want him to get as much experience as possible so he's ready to go if he ends up winning the job job for next season so the fact that he threw a couple of picks so what and great Now's the Time this is lab work for him and this is not the test the tests maybe he gets a test this year certainly he'll be in the running to have tests next year and then we'll see what he can draw from this experience so yeah the fact that he he he looked good some point he didn't look good here I don't just the fact that he looked is good enough for me because it's all it's all about a big old learning experience right now uh so I don't worry about that but other than that uh you know they yeah they don't they don't have right now and maybe they will they don't have an absolute identifiable Running Back RV one as they call it now but you weren't going to get that in game one anyway just wasn't going to happen this is not the time for it you want to spread it out and get as many dudes in there there and to see what they can do and then go from there CU basically they have three quizzes the way I look at it three quizzes and then the three quizzes and two tests the first five games test the test is in three weeks and everyone is jacked for that game I'm jacked for it yeah I mean last night to me was I'm not jacked you it's a game they haven't played in a while you go back but see so much for the fans last night the game it was just like almost like a small part of the experience clearly the experience is to be up there hanging out with your people tailgate TS yeah that's that's that's it they'll come at Arizona the game will be a significant part of the experience but not now that wasn't it it it reminded me in a sense of the Fiesta Bowl Fiesta ball was a given the actual game was a given it was all about the week before and it was the finest one of the finest weeks I've ever had while making money there's a bunch of vacation weeks that don't count they can't be compared right well yeah you were working yeah every day two shows daily and yet it was glorious it was awesome and you were with youth fans all over the place in the Tempe area and you go to Scottsdale and I I go Oldtown Scottsdale I don't even know why I was there I've been there a million times I'm not a tourist there that's my hometown but I was there for some reason and who do I see our old boss Craig Hansen and his family walking around and then you go over there and you see and then I went to the parade and then I saw people there and blah blah blah and it was the experience of it all that's sort of the way I felt I felt that way last night because it wasn't about the game but that time will come we'll get to it djpk it's 975 The Zone a full week of football in front of us lots more games to get to and we will do that next stay with us
