can I say that I think um Simon Byrne has absolutely made the right decision in resiling today given everything that has happened in recent weeks but there is a much deeper and more significant problem than just one individual and it's something we've been warning about for years it's the real crisis in Recruitment and Retention of Catholic officers and staff to the psna does the Secretary of State agree with me that the best way to deal with that crisis is to bring back 50 50 recruitment um so our conversation I had with the honorable gentleman last week he talked about the Pittman reforms and the and the 50 50 Recruitment and how it was a backward step to go away from that point and I am a great believer that um I guess in the kind of original original aspects of policing were you know pianism where police force should be reflecting the community that it pleases that's how it gains its confidence um I believe that actually recently um and I might be mistaken but I believe I was brief that recently the uh there have been good levels of recruitment from Catholic communities into the psni however it's situations like the one we were talking about today that damaged the prospects of that moving forward and uh it's our job it's all of our jobs to make sure that does not happen
