all right Kaylin dbor wins his first one and Ryan Williams absolutely goes [Music] off you are locked on Bama your daily podcast on the Alabama Crimson Tide part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day hey everybody welcome back into loon Luke Robinson that's me Jimmy Stein I hope you'll be here short uh for the postgame show after klin B dore's huge debut uh what a nice win it's 63 to nothing I was really hoping for that 70 Burger but we've got so much to talk about want to thank Five Hour Energy for being our main sponsor for this particular podcast and want to thank all you every dayers for joining in and all you every nighters who are watching us late into the shank of the evening right now at least for me um so Alabama gets the big win 63 to nothing there is a a lot to work on don't get me wrong I I'm just um I'm I'm really taking a back at how many penalties Alabama had especially early on um The Blocking needed some work the tackling the wrapping up all those things and we'll get to all that hopefully when Jimmy Stein joins me but a few things we're going to start off with is positive it's a win and it's a big win and it's a way to get started 63 to nothing the SEC has been on an absolute tear was fantastic today so uh for at least for the most part even Vanderbilt getting a win now we I think you start this because this is a Ryan Williams podcast I think we start this podcast talking about Ryan Williams um all I can say is I I tried to tell you uh I was a little concerned that he would not meet the expectations that I had put out there for him through no fault of his own I mean I I put these expectations out there for him he met them and exceeded them um I know it's Western Kentucky I know it's a you know not it's not Georgia but if you don't see the potential now I saw somebody on bam online where Jimmy does work uh post something about you know I'm not still super impressed with Ryan Williams I then then you just don't you won't like what's coming up because he is going to be absolutely incredible and tonight was just an absolute uh beginning that's all this is this is just the beginning for him he's gonna be fantastic at the University of Alabama and he's got everything that you want in a receiver he's just he's he's a good person but he's he's flashy but he's humble and he's fast and he catches everything everything and he just he's got moves I mean the the second touchdown was just a thing of beauty um where he catches it makes a good move breaks a tackle leaves two guys in the dust I mean just it was awesome um we should also say what a great job by Jaylen milro now he had his flubs too again I'm I feel like I gotta put this caveat out there because there are folks out there who think that we're apologists for him I'm not trying to be an apologist I'm trying to say that yeah he still has some things to work on as well I did like it later on in the game Alabama kept throwing um and and gave him at least an opportunity to make some uh passes I think Jeremy Bernard caught sort of a mid-range pass which is what I'm looking for I want to see him be able to do that you know this was such a weird game in the sense that we had this monster lead except we had all these two-play drives um we had we weren't very good on on first or second down it seemed like um the time of possession was all out of whack and yet we shut him out and by the way I love the stat at the end of the game where uh Alabama is is like shut out 27 opponents I think since 08 and the next closest team is Ohio State with 14 that's that's pretty amazing so great way to start out with that shut out um Jaylen milro I thought he threw a really pretty tonight you you got to I know there's some some out there that still aren't Jaylen milro Believers I understand but he threw a very pretty ball tonight there were some decision issues for sure but his wheels were there man that that first touchdown the first touchdown of the Season uh where he goes around the left and and the two guards pull I mean that was a thing of beauty um the the pass to Ryan Williams to be able to keep his head up was nice the I I know I'm not alone when I say that uh the the bad snap from Parker braford it wasn't the worst snap in the world it wasn't a great snap he probably should have coralled it meaning jayen milro but um it that gave me some PTSD I I know it probably did for y'all too um the the wide receivers overall uh nice to see Kobe prinus have a big game late we've already waxed poetic about Ryan Williams I don't know what else y'all want me to say Jimmy hopefully Jimmy joins and he will talk a little bit about him too and and just L him with praise like I am um then let's think uh the more on the wide receivers of course uh I mean I thought all of them played pretty well except they didn't get a ton of opportunity Justice Haynes big run was awesome uh I took Justice haes and an over under like 85 yards and so I was happy that he got an 85 y because that obviously put him on the over um I thought that uh Jam Miller had a nice game I thought he had some nice blocking uh it was good to see Justice start too um Kevin Riley that guy came in late he showed me some Wheels uh these again I hate to be going off top of my head but this is sort of instant reaction and that's what I want to do here um I thought Daniel Hill getting his first touchdown in his first game fantastic for him uh I wanted Richard young to get one I certainly wanted Richard young to get a touchdown you can see like I I you can see his potential there it's just briming to the surface and I think if he gets an opportunity uh he's going to make us all very proud the offensive line was good and bad boy losing Kaden Proctor during warm-ups is kind of nutty um I didn't expect that and uh hopefully that's not gonna be that big of a deal um we'll find out a little more Jimmy may know a little bit more so hopefully if he does join us he'll be able to tell us some more about that then um obviously braford I thought for the most part played very well well the one thing that stood out to me about brailford was I knew he was smaller than everybody I just hadn't seen them all together as a group like that but to see them all like in a huddle grouped up and to see braford so much smaller than everybody else it was it was eye opening now I thought he played pretty well I thought the offensive line play I'd give it a B minus C+ um they're still just wasn't enough time uh at different points in the game and then when we you know obviously losing and gayon Proctor hurt uh some other guys had to go out at various times I know Tyler Booker lost his helmet a time or two uh all of those things were were problems and it just seemed like we're trying to find our way but I had to talk myself off the ledge from time to time in the sense to remember we're not g to show a ton here you know we we put up 63 points we looked really good doing it and we didn't show a ton um we had a lot of offense I don't remember the exact yardage we had a lot of off offensive yardage and again we didn't show our hand very much and I don't know that we need to South Florida had a big win tonight I know they put up 48 points they're not gonna be a pushover next week uh but we should beat them then Wisconsin all of you saw them play Western Michigan I'm sure they did not look very good at all uh I feel much better about that game I felt good about it I feel even better after seeing them play and then Georgia I mean Georgia was okay Georgia's they turned it on the second half give them a lot of credit I still think they should probably be the number one team in the country but um you know I'm not saying that Alabama certainly can't beat them I feel I still feel good about Alabama having a shot in that game so um I'm glad that we didn't show everything we probably could show and I think we still got some other deep balls in there we didn't really you know the one to Ryan Williams the Deep ball to Ryan Williams um it I wouldn't call that taking a deep shot I would take call that Jaylen milro keeping his head up and real realizing there's somebody open I don't think we were going I mean that was a third and long if I remember right and I don't think we were necessarily going for it just take a deep shot for that and just see what happens I think that was jayen milro keeping his eyes downfield Ryan Williams taking advantage of sort of a busted coverage and it worked out I would like to see some more actual deep shots um I know Tai Simpson took a deep shot late and he also took a shot right after that it ended up being interception interception for Western Kentucky which was actually called back but due to a rough in the passer which I thought was a bad call frankly um but it was intended for Rico Scott now it wasn't GNA be super deep it was goingon to be about 40 some odd yards uh not what we'd call like one of those millroad deep passes but still nonetheless that was the one deep shot I remember I'll try and go through some of these comments here in just a second um but I um for those who missed it I just said all these very positive things about Ryan Williams he's just he's just that dude and um I can't I feel like Ryan Williams is the kind of player that is going to have an even bigger game in the bigger moments um but I do want to bring up some other folks that I thought stood out Jihad Campbell Jihad Campbell was everywhere tonight and is it just me and and look I'm trying to check out the comments as fast as I can um is it just me or did the B players look sleeker and stronger everybody looked pretty slim everybody looked jacked justi as haes looked jacked now I know he looked jacked before but I'm saying when he put on the Crimson Jersey and out there against the dudes from Western Kentucky I I guess it just stood out to me how Kendrick law Kendrick law L really good um was glad to see that I mean looked good in his uniform and then I thought hey he finally put together one of those plays had a nice touchdown early on you know Jimmy and I have been talking we want him to do something um to to match the expectation we've had for him to to match the reputation he has from practice and um so he had a big game Keon Sab how about two interceptions in the first quarter that that was pretty amazing um Caleb I don't want to say Caleb DS who I'm not gonna do that Caleb DS is a dude but Kean Saab is no slouch and I thought he played very very well he very well could have had another interception or two um I thought he looked really good I thought the defensive line was just what Jimmy and I have been saying good not necessarily great um qu Russell oh a menace a menace karius Robinson also a menace those two dudes they're going to be a problem for folks I guess the one thing that did stand out to me while I'm so um excited about how sleek and uh muscular the Alabama team looked I I guess I'm a little concerned about size overall in the defensive line a little later on Tim Keenan of course still a big dude so uh that's a big positive but um there's some things that just made me think you know this is one of those games where you spend a lot of time thinking about down the road versus necessarily thinking about the right now because you know you have that game one pretty early on even with some of the deficiencies we had uh the penalties or whatever that's another thing of course I'd love to talk to Jimmy about tomorrow um I don't know if Jimmy's gonna be able to join us night but the the penalties problem um and maybe that's some carryover and maybe you can chalk some of that up two first game stuff um the other thing that stood out to me uh and again I'm not trying to put a wet blanket on anybody here and I wish Jimmy were here to be more of a pickme up sort of like everything is wonderful guy because that's sort of what he does boy I'd like to see a little more fire out of the coaching staff I guess uh Kaylin D'Or you know it's one thing Nick Sabin didn't show a ton of fire I'd say like he wasn't like always on somebody sometimes he just you know had his arms folded and he just had that scowl right but you knew on the interior his innards were on fire right you knew like every play was doing something and I feel like I even talk I even caught kayin debor I'm sure y'all did too like in the middle of the game laughing like something may have something may have been funny maybe somebody told him a Shane Gillis joke I don't know but I just I mean the people that I was watching we have never seen Nick sain do that that's not necessarily a negative that's not necessarily A positive I'm just saying never seen Sabin do that so it's a little different to see it so um I would like to see I guess and and maybe it'll be that way when it's a better opponent um a little more fire uh and I I think what we also need to remember is this is coach toor's first time coaching in the SEC coaching at the University of Alabama you can coach at Washington all you want to and God bless Wasington it's great University think the world of it it ain't coaching like like there like it's coaching at Alabama it's just two different animals and um the expectations we have the way that people like me are dissecting every minute detail of what has happened in that game um just crazy uh but Jacob Harline says who was it on the dline who was all over the quarterback at the start of the game um I believe you're either thinking about Quay rousa or quindarius r those two dudes were everywhere early and often Uh I that those two are who I got most of my text about like what in the world those guys are shut out of a cannon halftime um I thought it was kind of interesting that uh you know here we go we play the same quarterback we played a gazillion times in DJ Finley and um Finley had some kind of thing before the game about how I don't know is you know Western KY is going to prove how good we are and what's the big deal about playing Alabama I've thrown for 150 yards against them twice and then he just went out there and kind of stunk it up I mean he had a couple of nice plays that you know but uh for the most part I thought uh the defense did a good job now wrapping up stopping people on third down um more than one time there was a a tackle that should have been made and then the guy would sneak away and get two or three extra yards in a game against Georgia that's going to be a problem a game against you know LSU Tennessee Auburn it's gonna be a problem so I think this was a perfect game I said this before uh the contest I think this was a perfect game for Alabama to start out with a team that is that we should clearly beat clearly and at the same time can give us enough of a test to to make things look interesting so I I feel like it it worked out great um that we get the win and get shut out get the shut out because uh that that's something that will help this defense maybe get a little confidence and uh we'll talk a little bit more about some other guys like a Cole Adams here in just one second but I want to tell you about Five Hour Energy look I've used Five Hour Energy myself on multiple occasions I've talked about it on here um it's it's a great product I never feel jittery I just love but most time like on a game like this I'm going have to use it to stay up but I was so excited about this and sorry for getting a little late to this but I'm at the beach myself anyway look if you're tired after lunch and you're not alone I promise you in fact research shows more than 70% of us hit the wall after lunch let a 5our energy shot help you leap receive 20% off your order you will thank me for that so I did want to throw out there Cole Adams um man that guy's Fearless I was anybody else like just dying for him to bust one because you could see that that's a kid who wants to do he wants to make a name for himself right um in a good way you know there's some dudes that return punts and they they want to do something but they don't do the fundamentals you know that they just they just want to hit the big play Cole Adams has all the fundamentals down and he still wants to the big play I I mean I just I'm pulling for that kid so much uh back there because I really thought he was GNA be somebody like Jeremy Bernard or Ryan Williams or even Bach W back there and I would that would have been fine with me in fact I would it would make a ton more sense to me if one of them was back there because I would consider them to be more athletic and faster but Cole Adams he showed um the ability to catch all the punts and he he ain't gonna call a fair catch if there's any shot he can return it and I dig that I just thought he had a sense of fearlessness about him James burnup um another great night I don't know exactly what he average but when we did punt he did a great job I thought I thought James burnup is heading towards an All-American season and um that's wonderful for him Ty Simpson uh he comes in I thought he looked really good I mean now I was with some folks who weren't super high on him and I just said look he he is the backup quarterback and give him a minute you know he he doesn't get all the Reps he does get everything else that milro gets and so yeah he's going to have some learning curve in his own right I'm a big tipson fan and just like that we're gonna welcome in my buddy Jimmy sty Jimmy do oh long night lot of points a shut out lot of good some not so great but mostly fantastic really you know well that's been the theme of what I've been talking about is look there is I think this was a perfect game we did a lot of things right there is a lot of reason for everybody to be excited about this season milro I thought spun the ball incredibly well his wheels look great Justice Haynes was awesome Jam Miller was awesome uh the snaps save one were all very good Ryan Williams is a wonderin um he's if anything you put this out there if anything you and I haven't praised Ryan Williams enough not crazy it's funny because we call it or the Ryan Williams Show all year long and maybe we just didn't hype him enough but he he's just a real special player uh on the one hand it's shocking that a 17-year-old can do that on the other hand it's Ryan this was like predictable I mean uh he's he's just a Next Level dude um gosh he made just such a quick imagine the very first play of your college career is that long long 85 yard tou 85 yard touchdown or 87 Maybe regardless and again this dude was he's supposed to be playing blunt High School last night I mean SAR played blunt last night and won 40 something 40 something to six without him but imagine how that yeah it was it was certainly nuts Jimmy and um I know my f my Wi-Fi may be going a little weak and I don't I'm not sure about yours but um Jimmy here's here's what we're going to do um I know every I know Jimmy just got here but uh the Wi-Fi is slipping from me right now so I'm going we're going to call this one to close and what we're going to do is we're going to come back tomorrow and we're going to talk about all this stuff again I want to thank everybody for joining us tonight we appreciate this we we want to have a wrap up show after every game and Labor Day is kind of wonky because you know I'm at the beach Jimmy's got that but next week next week ought to be a lot easier so um man thank you guys so much uh for joining us we appreciate you guys love you all so much and uh we will get with you tomorrow and until then roll TI everybody roll TI
