Intro / Steelers Training Camp [Music] oh yes football with friends is fun as hell my name is Alex Dunlap here with Cody Carpenter coming to you well I'm coming to you for my normal for my normal digs Cody Carpentier coming to you from Pittsburgh just getting done with uh Steelers bills joint practices Cody how are you brother doing pretty good um I I will say this first and foremost I was at the Steelers and bills camp today and I did not even remember that Ryan Watts was on the field I didn't even notice him you well so okay so no so no scouting report on on Ryan Watts from today do do you have just before we get into it I know you have this uh I know you want to get into the stuff about V's post and all the rest we also have to get through the uh offensive depth charts from yesterday some um man Cody I gotta ask you about this this article that cat just put up on orange Bloods about the nil stuff and fusi and sort of what's going on with that also we just had availabilities with Michael Taff and Kelvin Banks and believe it or not man I came out of that learning something new I I actually learned a few new things Michael dude Michael Taff he gets in there and talks a little bit of football so we're going to we're going to go over all that just a totally jam-packed show but before we get started I I just got to ask you and we always come in with football we're very respectful of y'all's time um what what was your biggest take do you have one biggest fantasy takeaway from Steelers and bills from the first practice today biggest takeaway for fantasy for Fantasy Football is one on the Buffalo side there was first off there was no Curtis Samuel practicing today no Dawson kn was a little bit of a annoyance because I mean those are going to be two focal points of this offense so far what we've heard um but on the Pittsburgh side I'll go Nai looks fantastic but all the conversation about Brandon auk potentially being traded there they do have a bunch of money and all this stuff the biggest takeaway is that I think a lot of the fantasy Community forgot that Pat fouth had 98 Targets in 2022 98 targets and they lost Deontay Johnson who was there last year and and and and fryou was hurt last year so fryou healthy in this offense with I believe our boy Bo Mariani today told me that uh outside of pickings and Kelvin Austin Bo covers the team the the Pittsburgh Steelers every day um I'll say that Kelvin Austin and George pickings only there's 42 targets to go around with you know quz Watkins and all these other these other cats that are on the field so it's I mean fouth is going to get destroyed with Targets this year and also just of not Justin field is not starting well I think I think that's that's good for f for far youth because what they had said from the very beginning is once Russell you know Russell's been dealing with the with the calf or whatever you know he's back now but they said that during during OTAs like it was very obvious that those two are like BFFs man like they were they had a real connection with each other Fri MTH and Russell Wilson so so pack that away um in your back pocket for your fantasy drafts that are coming up we know a lot of you guys are drafting this weekend of course you can get our cheat sheets over at Ross watch.com and find our content there if you're interested in more of the fantasy stuff we we will talk about it here here some though um but so getting back to the to the Texas stuff so all right so you you Is Vince Young's Son a Longhorn? you made a v tweet everybody liked it they all clicked on it nobody cyber bulled you over it um it was one of one of one of the first one of the few things that not a single negative comment put it up on the screen just so we can see it all right so what did you write on here so this is this is a tweet from V can you explain it all right so basically the Tweet what it's not it's it wasn't a tweet on his behalf it was an Instagram post on his behalf he put this out late last night or you know yesterday evening Wednesday evening my son Jamon is up next Longhorns here he comes at King Kate Athletics just uh quick night grinding he completed eight of 10 passes and then he puts up a picture of him scoring that touchdown in the Rose Bowl and his son on the right side almost like ver like doppelganger pictures here like literally and the kid looks the kid looks good right wait so wait he's he's he's 2028 because I was trying to look for film or something like that would mean 2028 would mean he's what grade grade or something freshman freshman okay so he's Pro so he's just now going into freshman so we might be able to get some I wonder if he's going to start this year well I don't know that's so like that's if you look at the comments on this or on orange Bloods that posted it up there it's like is he starting is he starting are we gonna find something like nobody knows anything about him and then like you look up at Vince hasn't tweeted anything about it this is the last post was 2020 this was a picture of the kid and then this one was from 2019 I was gonna say I I was gonna say Cody the one years ago what what it makes me feel so old scroll scroll back up and scroll back up and let me see him him now because you know Vince is at like every practice right he's always up there he's got some kind of I mean wherever this kid Jamon wherever he's going to play is probably somewhere around Austin you know what I mean I would the king Cade school I don't know what that is but they said that that is a glow up in comparison somebody somebody wrote King Cade school is a glow up in comparison to where did Vince go he was at um uh CL I forgot what that what school events went to like Klein or something like that somebody's gonna some somebody's gonna it's what one of those schs Vince Young high school just let me let me look it up somebody is yelling at us Madison Madison um yeah the um I guess maybe may I guess so he's probably down in Houston oh K Kate is is Houston area somebody'll tell us in the chat they'll they'll know best but anyway so I was just gonna say like that right there looks like the kid that I remember he used to he used to um climb on the uh he used to go on the crossbars and like climb up the top of the crossbars and do this stuff where he would just hang his feet over the top and be swinging down he he'd be a little kid about that big you know he'd be you'd be like oh man like like V's kid is gonna be an athlete one day with how with how he does all this stuff so um yeah man so like you gotta you got a relative of Vince Young classed 2028 dude he could he could be up he could be next man up after what I guess after Dell diab bel's 2027 right yeah wait no I think he's 202 I think he's 20 uh I'm so far off with all these numbers they started 2026 yeah you're right you're right you're right 2026 because is KJ Lacy 2025 diaab Bell 2026 but I mean he could be next up after he could be next up after diaab Bell he could he could come in and play early we're talking about Skip the class 2027 skip the class 2027 and then just then just uh sign sign sign v j yeah and and thanks so much to everybody for being here creeping up towards 300 people already here in the chat after only 7 minutes here streaming which just unbelievable man thank you guys so much we can't tell you how much we appreciate you guys continue to come back here to watch football with friends with me and Cody you can find Cody on X at Cody carpet here you can find me at Alex dlap NFL you can find all of our content over at um orange Bloods I just got a couple texts here that I'm not gonna um that I'm going to save to do a little bit later probably not in the war room but a couple little things from practice today um we also have the War Room that'll be going up a little bit later that you can check out over there on Orange BLS but right now I mean I think we're allowed An NIL Problem at Texas to talk about what this article that K just put up about I'm going be honest with you Alex I haven't read it I haven't read I haven't read anything is there gonna be the money there for for Mike fusi right that's that's can can can Texas afford a festar offensive lineman in the 2025 class and catch catch makes a makes an interesting point one he he's kind of bringing the attention that you know this n we all just think of Texas and look these aren't catches words these are my words on the commentary that he shared from his sources so I'm not putting any words in catch's mouth okay um um I think everybody maybe I'm wrong but when I think about the Texas fan base and I feel like I know the Texas fan base really well even though everybody knows that I didn't grow up a Texas Fan you know I grew up my parents dude you're rice yes well no you can't be a rice fan but when your dad goes to rice and your grandpa and your great uncles and everybody your grandma like both of my uncles like my my my godfather they all they all went to Rice right my they my family has a there's a like a there's a portion of a library named after us and stuff dude even with all this I I still couldn't get into rice because my Graves were so bad I'm I'm laughing because I'm laughing because I want you to continue your story but I'm laughing because Josh P I tell you I watch his show all the time he always says the number one rule of betting on college football is you can never bet on food and rice is like the top of the L what are the other ones I can't think of the other ones I don't know R is always one that comes to top of top of the mind yeah there's gota there's got to be another one if if Pate has that rule um let us know in the chat if if you can think of if if if you can think of a school that's named after a food um no but so I didn't I didn't grow up you know I I grew up a giant NFL fan right and then once the Oilers got taken away it's like you know I got into fantasy cared more about players just covering the whole league caring about the draft all the rest but um you know once I got to Texas you know clearly once you get to Texas you you know it's you know I I've been a fan of the program um and I know how Texas fans think about the program I've been on orange blood since 2003 you tend to think that you have all the money in the world more than anybody else in the world you just do it's the largest endowment of any public university it's super super super rich school all the oil and gas money all the rest of the stuff and I just think it's interesting for you catch you can't we can't think about nil as a thing it's like this spigot that you can't turn off it apparently it's turning out that the nil right now is falling on too few shoulders there aren't enough people donating to the nil collectives and for the 2025 classes they're budgeting this thing out you know he talked about this Georgia Tech who's the Georgia Tech guard this 260 pound guard for Georgia Tech um Josh Petty from Roswell Georgia he committed to Georgia Tech just three days ago he secured an $800,000 per year guaranteed niil package at Georgia Tech as a fourstar guard wild so so things have things have changed since Kelvin Banks stepped foot on campus I know it doesn't seem like that long ago 2022 but um things have things have changed to where it's like you Kelvin Banks if you would have walk through that door today a gosh man we just got the interview with Kelvin Banks and you know um he was asked today about being the number I I haven't seen the list but he's the number nine player on ESPN's top 100 players of the 2024 season you know if you get a guy that you think is going to eventually get to that you're going to have to pay that guy a million dollars a year that's more than anybody at Texas makes based on the nil sourcing that that we have at Orange Bloods right and so things are changing it's a weird landscape it's a wide open landscape and so between now and the 20 the actual 2025 which is going to be more involved with the 2026 cycle as far as the budgeting goes for the nil and for paying these players it's like they're they're they're needing to you know they're needing to keep their powder a little bit dry for this late push where they're trying to flip a couple guys and all the rest of it right now and it's it's just at an odd time for fusi where it's like it isn't like they don't have the money it's not like they can't match it but they're they're in this weird spot where they're like okay well we have these resources they are pulled a little bit thin some of them are already committed elsewhere we have the money that we have there that we that we that we have in the bank but um you know it's already committed elsewhere and we can't squeeze ourselves too thin and get into all this trouble like not trouble but just get the like do you remember Jordan Addison at USC do you remember like the whenever he got his nil thing and he got there and he's like hold on wait you told me I was going to get like you know whatever 500k but now you're telling me I got to go to this guard dealership every day and go sign 500 helmets and go meet every you know stuff you know it's like all contingent on all this other stuff right and I mean I understand how these coaches it's the it's the super super duper wild west but it's it's I we I I kind of said it jokingly about how you know if you get diell in the 2026 class you might not and if you want to go get V's kid because I think you just need to go get V V's kid right I think even if he can't really throw that well Tex doesn't have the first offer on that offer sheet there's a they should probably offer him right now right four years ago yeah but I think that yeah like when he was crawling up that pole and had aall he could anything like deal man dude th dude those kids grow up fast man that does not seem like that long ago to me but they grow up fast I guess my son was probably back 2019 my son was two it's just wild man and like think about him man kids grow up fast man um I I just I think that um I think that Texas and other Schools they're gonna have to you're not going to be able to get a I think katchen made the point the best and again I'm paraphrasing him here but like we're not gonna have any you know and this was Katch certainly didn't say this this is me saying this but I think Nick Sabin hated nil and hated all this stuff not because he thought it was ruining the sport but because it took away some kind of inherent advantage that he had with ways that they were able to kind of compensate players and stuff I just I kind of think that that's what happened right you know what happens at Auburn with the Yellowwood dude you know what happens at Georgia with I can't remember his name but there were ways where you could stack where you could be the Envy of college football by having five-star offensive linemen that aren't even starting right and Texas is kind of in that mold right now they do have a Brandon Baker who's a five-star offensive lineman who isn't starting for them he's like third team you can let these guys develop and stuff but dude that's the sign of being one of the Joneses man one of the super rich schools whenever whenever they go to whenever they kind of even things out with this salary cap where they're actually um you know where teams at least start out on even footing and I think there there'll still be some kind of nil that goes into it as far as the collectives and all the rest of it so the halves are still going to be able to really be able to out bid the have knots but it's like it's like everything else Works in free in free markets man it's like the it's like it's like Tu isad just a few weeks ago man like the market is what the market is and things are going to even out and it's going to be it's gonna be really hard to stack your roster whenever guys look around and they say they got a million bucks a year they got a million bucks a year like I'm a fivar too Rivals makes me a festar they're like all the rest man that it puts a lot of responsibility on people like Rivals and all the sites it's like it makes you wonder if they're going to start all this stuff is so new man it's like almost like somebody could oh it's just there's so many weird things that could happen with how this how all this goes but regardless um I just I thought it was super interesting to read from catch and he says he's gonna have more on this in the war room like a like a total breakdown of what's Happening Here but it does feel like um on a team that um where where catch is saying that you know the heaviest investment needs to be like in the here and now it's like you're not always thinking about what the the the Investments of tomorrow might need to be and in the landscape that they've been in they have money that's already kind of committed elsewhere to other guys that were committed to kind of the here and now to where with this future stuff they're kind of having to maybe keep their powder a little bit dry and maybe just maybe um some of these bigger donors are starting to get mees messaging out saying like look man like you guys can't like this isn't a piggy bank dude you can't just you know what I mean like we we we need to get more small small dollar donors coming here and doing this if we're going to really try and stack this thing and go go super big with all these players and it makes me just if this is the messaging we're hearing about fusi it makes me it makes me think that you know if Texas fails to land him and he does go to OU there is all this talk about keeping the powder dry for the flips later on once they get their once they get their um the ducks in a row right but then you also see it's like Jason just put out the article today about them offering this like three star defensive tackle right this uh committed to Arkansas and you look at him and like you know the the Huddle that I watched his was like 25 seconds long it's hard to really tell too much I think he Wass 275 pounds he's a three star um you know I just I I it feels like maybe for you know the big names that they have they're they're waiting right now it feels like Nick Brooks is one of the big big ones right now Jonah Williams is one of the big ones right now maybe one of these ones that won't break the bank quite in the same way that a that Mike fusi might Michael Terry won't break the bank in the same way that a Mike fusi might I think Jamie French might want that that that kind of money I'm not sure but it's just it's just interesting to me that it feels like they're taking a little bit of a stance right now like we kind of need to get our books in order a little bit with all this nil stuff I feel like a little bit Vindicated about the whole defensive tackle thing like I remember like some of my first columns I wrote up were on some of these defensive tackles like uh um Trav Travis bhaki and who was the other one that I did I can't remember I'm trying to find his name here uh Carmello Brooks both these guys end up going to like Houston right and they're both I think I think uh Brooks is now a four star lowend fourstar and baki's a a three star defensive tackle but it was like at the time I wrote them I wrote the the pieces people were like they're not takes they're too small you know they're that's a big 12 defensive tackle and now Texas sitting in a spot and it's like well you know that 63 270 pound frame kind of makes sense um I I don't know it's it's definitely an interesting thing I feel like literally just a couple months ago you know there was conversations on the board about well the money is unlimited type of a situ situation like I feel like that just happened feel like that was just conversations that was being had everybody knows Ohio State's up there everybody knows you know Oregon's up there they're pretty open about it everybody knows Texas is up there and the money's not unlimited but it's pretty much unlimited I feel like that was like the verbiage we were getting no no less than two months ago I I tell you what I I I commented this in the in the house divided chat maybe a week and a half maybe two weeks ago when some when some dollar figures came up and I asked about like salary cap and obviously you can't have a salary cap because not everybody has the same amount of money so you can't be like whatever right they're gonna kind of soon but but I think in a in a certain world you can have a like a soft cap or you can at least have transparency and and we're in an ultra Ultra Ultra gray area in college football that makes this so messy to where you do hear things about unlimited money and then you hear things of we don't got money money or this is this and this is this like right all this different stuff it's like if if everybody was just transparent because it's pretty much where we're at in this world it's not you know McDonald's bags full of cash anymore it's you're getting cash wired to you legally but nobody in the public really knows what it is whereas like in the NFL it's like boom this guy was signed this deal blank it's right there if if if the transparency came around in college football to the point where you you could see that you know I don't I'm just throwing numbers out there I have no idea what these numbers look like Quinn were signed a three-year deal with Texas for $3 million like if you had that information if you knew that information was out there you knew Texas spent this you could have a alltime spending total you could have a yearly spending total you could have a a a baseline for contracts for quarterbacks Contra like these I I feel like these are things that should and will happen in the next I don't know one to five six years like they it feel like it has to happen for all of this to continue to grow and maybe not become the NFL become closer to the NFL become more understandable um more legal and just help the overall Game grow instead of being in this dysfunctional gray area where it's just like yeah this guy from Georgia Tech at $800,000 a year and you're just like well what if you know what if Georgia wanted to give him two million not saying they would have because he's a guard but like I don't know you don't know not say you're ever going to find out either that either because we don't really hear that in the NFL very much of what the offer was that he he declined usually sometimes sometimes you find that out later but does that make sense I guess I I just kind no no I mean you get you get in you get in big trouble by like if you're one of these players just by not by not knowing right like like or or your agent right if like they don't like you know it's like it's you know a team is historically like that's where the transparency comes if you know that you know you know I mean there's the Evan Stewart stuff if you like the Jordan Addison stuff so A&M and USC like if you know that there's a little suspect there maybe you attack that negotiation a little bit different maybe that that that allows you to be a little more hey guys well I know this school's giv me uh 800 800,000 you guys haven't been able to come through on on your money spending before so if I'm going to come to you for 800,000 I'm going to need X up front whatever it is whatever that conversation happens you know when they're doing contracts and stuff like it just feels like a lot more transparent would definitely help the whole nil situation because it feels so so gray right now yeah man it's it's uh look it's important to know it's important to be transparent it's like and I I really think this the same is true of your beef it's it's important to really be transparent and and know where your beef is coming from right for your provider to say it it's it feels like a real gray area whenever HB says look this is American beef but all it all it has to be is processed at the at down in San Antonio at the HB processing center it can be from Lockdown CB vs. Dominate LB Super Chat thank you money B we we appreciate it we appreciate everybody for being here man uh now clicking up to over 400 of you guys thank you money B for telling people to like the video thank you to srone if you guys could please like the video subscribe to the channel we're getting so close to to to 20K right now but thanks to money B especially for the Super Chat you will take a lockdown CB a Revis type over a over a dominant lb Derek Johnson type did you just call him Revis I'm sorry Daryl revas type I was I was just reading it with without thinking about who who he was talking you were just going across that sentence pretty quick I was just I was just doing the I was just doing the anchor man thing um he could have just written some terrible like yeah I was just I was just reading it um a Rivas type over a Derek John oh gosh I mean I hate to say or we just talking for a college football team or I think I think for any team because Derek Johnson could play inside he could play outside you could almost you know what I mean he could get after the quarterback but look it I think I think I yeah I I I want I want the player I want the defensive player that affects the quarterback the most it's the most important position on the field it's the most important position in all sports as far as any sport there's no position that's more important to to the rest of the players on the team in any team sport there's nothing more important nothing more tough to do nothing nothing that is an opponent you have to really Corral and make sure you keep under control than the opposing quarterback that's the CEO of the onfield product so I I want the player that's going to affect the quarterback I feel like a I feel like a derell Rivas who it's a true Rivas Island it's a s Gardener Jaylen Johnson for the Bears is kind of like that now Jaylen Ramsey used to be like this I think whenever you just take a when whenever it's your Island and you just take a dude away I think that that really does things that mess with the progressions mess with your natural timing um especially if you're one of these guys that can travel and do the star coverage like like revas always used to do he would travel from side to side so um you just say like all right well we're taking Devonte Adams out of the game right you know you guys have a you you guys have Jamar Chase okay well you don't have him anymore we're taking him out we're going to make you play left-handed I feel like a I I feel like a lock down Corner makes you play more left-handed whereas a dominant linebacker could maybe wreak more havoc and maybe affect the quarterback in more of a physical way but maybe not affect the scheme and make that quarterback play play left-handed yep I want all the mentals the mentals the the mentals are going to be are going to be in flux or in a tizzy when you have a Daryl Rivas on one side and you constantly have oh like my Al's over there but they got an Al over there too so if Arch wasn't the backup who are you guys keeping an eye on as the top QB next year it's crazy the QBs move around so much oh I don't know man I haven't been thinking at all about any kind of transfers for 2020 asking about the 20 the possibility of a 2025 transfer in I would like Owens what what we talking about I would be interested in having Trey Owens start what are we talking about here yeah what are we talking about I think Trey Owens is gonna is gonna sit in the pocket and I'm gonna continue to beat this drum right here Arch is one andone like Arch is playing one year and he's done and I think Trey ens is the guy that steps in for a singular year so you want to talk it all about with some of the stuff some of the stuff that that Michael ta and Kelvin Banks talked about today just maybe give some highlights from their availab can I ask you the first question can I ask you the first question about this yeah Kelvin Banks said oh yeah Banks Kelvin Banks said Kelvin Banks with a compliment for Colton Vasek about Colton vosik I went against him the whole time this weekend he's been balling I guess they were go ones ones were versus threes because I got a report somebody said that Colton verus just isn't fair I don't think that's what that means okay what do you think it mean what you think you think that's what they did for a scrimmage they sent up the number one offense against number three defense I don't think probably not I'll bet they would have I'll bet they would have um that means Vos is getting work with the twos yeah over Burke yeah that's the first thing that came to my mind they're work they're working vosic up they have to be like that he said I he literally said I went against him the whole time yeah that's true because they asked him also about like who the hardest guys he faces in practice are and he says when practice I just face two guys every day and it's Trey Moore and it's Baron cell and both those guys are big big headaches um you so he's kind of honest about the guys that he goes up against a lot and he did say he went up against vosik though he said the whole the whole scrimmage he said he said he said ever since he came back from his injury he's been he's been really really balling and I think you know we talked about this yesterday but I think that there's a better than 50% chance that Ethan Burke Goes Pro after this season or do you think that maybe it's not I mean I would say it's right there if Trey Moore had a transfer to Texas I put it a little I probably put it like 60 60 65 in there but now it kind of has to become like a he Ethan Berg has to do the situational thing he has to be the the the um the um what am I trying to say here the uh athletic long the projectable the projectable player that comes in on those on those downs and he ends up with nine or eight you know seven eight nine sacks and situational stuff and it's a projectable thing for the NFL that's what he has to be this year he can't be just like a a guy with 20% 30% snapshare and you know 12 tackles 12 tfls like that's not gonna that's not going to do it what about how uh Michael Taff so they asked Michael Taafe comments him about the helmet community unication and if he was wearing it he didn't say that he was you know I think if he was wearing it he would have said that he is yeah um by the way so Taff he still in a he's still in a green no contact Jersey but he but he says he's totally live like he says I'm out there I'm hitting I'm getting off Blocks he's like I'm a ball hog man like I I'm out there catching the ball I'm I'm out there doing every single thing I don't care if I got this thing on my hand or my wrist like I'm playing like he he says he's got no no limitations at all he says he don't really know what the stuff is with the doctor he like the doctors are in charge of the green jerseys he's like I'm I'm just out there playing you so he thinks he he he thinks he's fine but um he they were asking him about the uh the helmet Communications and he says that he just said that you know like fans think about it like just getting the plays in and stuff but he said no man like it's it's about I it's about iding the the formations and there's just stuff that from his point of view or from the point of view of the linebackers that you just can't that you just can't see the same way like that eagle eyye kind of eye in the sky that your DC or whoever is get he just said like for us what I know I can do is I know I can I can get lined up I can get set I can get the call I can keep my knees bent I can get in a good football stance but what the earpiece helps with is say he said so if the back is chow which he said and then he said I guess I don't know you all know what that means but that's like if the back if he's starting to if he's starting to get like widen out a little bit maybe out side of the box right and you can't really see it um he's saying that well he's probably you know if that's the case you know we say that when a back his Chow it means he's probably gonna run a wheel route so what a wheel route is for those I think people watching this show probably know what a wheel route is but that's just a route where you kind of you know you kind of run out and then run up if you're a running back you've seen it a million times they usually catch the ball down the sidelines it's it's a it's a it's a super fun thing to watch and he said that um he said that the coach like he can like relay like instead of relaying the calls he can he can tell you like Dude tell Blackwell that he's child he like there's a wheel coming you know what I'm saying and um you know that's just a super like super thing yeah man it's like yeah because difference between touchdown and not yeah we got a oh dude we got a super chat here from my dude man my my my buddy my buddy Mo sends a Super Chat Mo good to see dude did you mean to ask a question Mo you could just you can walk up the street and just come on the show man this is my neighbor man just right right down the road man one of my Bros Mo see the one that cleaned out uh Texas Texas beef Traders yeah he went and clean him out of that wagu the other day man dude Mo made some good burgers that that that night man we the pool yeah know wagu burgers with wagu bacon on on on top so this was very it's very very very good he saying nice nice job neighbor all right all right brother you're welcome to come on anytime though you know the spot all right um all right so Taff said that uh anything else that you found sort of sort of interesting from um from the from the rest of the I did like I I did love what he said about the about the heat said golden of course he's always out there at practice he's like he's always sweating so hard like of course said's gonna ask about the he um he's like you know what do you think about the heat what you what are you telling the other guys about it like these newcomers that come from these transfers and all this stuff and he's like he's like dude the first advice that I give is like this heat is an advantage for us he said we get to practice in it every day Taff is a baller man he's a that that is a young Westlake chapperal if I've ever seen one Cody these Westlake shafts they they are they are something else um he said I just know that at Colorado State it is not 105 on on the field at at 3:30 at at Colorado State today that they're they're not practicing at this so I tell them like you need to Embrace this pain right now because you're going to get on the field on August 31st and you're going to be so glad it's not your first time feeling it I'm kind of like well I guess I guess it's kind of true but gosh man does it really does it really stink whenever you're out there in it um I it's been it's I guess they had to I guess the the yeah so if I'm just if I was just getting some texts from people at the end of practice I'm guessing practice yeah it would have had to been at three because they were they were available at five they yeah they just had practice but yeah man they're not they're not going they don't have the luxury of like us man like where I can just change my routine where I go hiking or Trail you know trail running and stuff like that like I've just it when it's gotten super hot around here these last couple days I've just done it where I've just gone like eight in the morning you know they don't have that choice man Sark Sark just Sark just sends them out there at 3:30 PM dude just to bake and this stuff but I think it'll be it'll be worth it in the end man these uh yesterday I was in Jacksonville for the Jaguars Tampa joint practice and Florida's obviously pretty hot it was 105 on the field there and these dudes were getting like it looked so comfortable they they or looked so enjoyable I should say they had all these trainers with uh with uh little uh hand towels dish towels dish rags in buckets of ice water and they would just ring them out on these dude's necks and you could just see like the heat just like come right oh yeah dude go these big barrel fans and I was like oh my God these guys are are you too young to know the stuff whenever they because this was when I was in high school no where they would take the where you get the you put the the um towels inside the ice buckets that have ammonia in them and you put and you put that on top of your head and it it kind of wakes you up a little bit but also cools you off was that still legal whenever you were playing well I didn't well I grew up in Minnesota so I didn't have to really deal I when October came around and we started to get to like playoff season I mean we were wearing sweatpants yeah you're more worried about not having your fingers freeze off up there dude the yeah but the ammonia part I did use ammonia when I was like lifting stuff but I've never heard or seen the ammonia wrapped in a towel that's very interesting is it is it does it like go into your pores and your neck or something because they're so open no no you just you take the like you just take the towel and it's like it's been in the ice water you just put it on top of your head and it just kind of rests on top of your head and you just kind of let it lay and you just kind of breathe and the ammonia stuff it's it's not like on your face it's kind of like hanging down off your face gotcha um uh one other thing so like keep an eye out for this there's going to be somebody in the local media as we're as we're up to over 500 people watching man right now so thanks to everybody as always we're super super respectful of your time we know that it's very very valuable you could be doing a million things besides being here with us so um thank you guys and thanks for all the great feedback on the show um we work hard to always make sure that we're prepared and we can just come in with football so so thank you guys um one other thing is that uh somebody's G to be writing a story about Silas Bowen because they ask both players about Silas Silas Balin and um Michael Tav says that Silas balin's a monster he says you probably know about the speed and the hands and the routes but he just wants to say just what a selfless player he is how he how he puts his body on the line he just says he's a beast he says he's really really has it all and then Kelvin Banks was just as just as um effusive with his praise and he was saying that um he just says he kind of said the same both these guys say that he's kind of a do anything to help the team kind of really selfless player and to me it's just interesting that you know he's so small it's like interesting to hear a guy like tap say you know he'll put his body on the line you could do have him do whatever and like he's he's gonna do it he he he's got some dog in him man I got a I got a little bit of a uh running back update that I'm going to post a little bit later over on orange blood that you guys can check out but um yeah I'm not sure Balden I'm not sure balon's gonna play running back but we'll we'll see they might use him in some kind of some kind of special ways like that Vib is asking you Cody what city are you based out of so Cody right now is in Pittsburgh for um Bill's Steelers joint practices but you're in Charleston now yep Charleston South Carolina um anything Is Trey Moore the strongest on the team? else here I mean talked about cam Williams the coolest thing oh okay finally the coolest thing that Kelvin Banks has seen all all summer right they said whether on the field off the field just around the team he said it's how strong Trey Moore is he said he walked into the weight room and saw Trey Moore for the first time and he said I forgot what he said he look like he you know he's not a guy that looks super super big like he'd be one of these kind of weit room freaks or whatever but he says that he just he just throws 405 on the bench and does it easily I don't know what that means to you Cody that you know what is what is what is trymore way looks like he weighs like 235 two 240 what does treymore weigh try proba 235 240 that's probably 240 probably what his number is I I should know I should know it off the top of my head but let me just look and see um 240 245 so two four 405 just throwing that up easily for a for a 24 he's got long arms too like I mean he's a he's a edge that's what I think I don't think really never impressed with with any of these numbers dude I mean it's it's so contextual so this is funny because my wife always brings this up and she's like you know I hear these numbers and stuff and people are like oh yeah my boyfriend did 225 pounds on the bench and she's like you just like laughs at it like she doesn't she doesn't register it because like I like you know like I was a powerlifter I've I've I've been lifting since I was in seventh grade so I've done all these numbers and whatnot so it's like when hear a number I'm like I I I think differently like when like you R up the weight like when I when I hear tray Moore bench 405 I think well he's like 63 63 and some change probably got some pretty long arms like that makes bench harder having long arms makes bench considerably harder it's why you always see these big offensive linemen aren't generally the guys putting up over 400 450 pounds It's usually the dantari pose with the T rex arms that are putting up big numbers like that right and that's what comes to my mind but no but 40 five is is I mean if he's doing it for you know a couple reps like that's that's that's very impressive and that's like one of those things that you hear it you're like check there's not a question about those about about any uh strength stuff like but if it was if it was Trey Moors in the in the gym doing he just did 300 pounds I'd be like yeah that's not good like four or five you're like all right well he's probably gonna do 25 to 30 reps in the bench next to you at the draft or at the combine so like that's that's a very good number very impressive and but I will say what what what what's what Kelvin did say was like I wouldn't have expected it out of Trey Moore like I would have said the inverse I I I kind of would have expected Trey Moore to be a little bit of a Phenom in the gym and like Baron cell would have been the one I would have been like yeah I don't know about I don't know if he's goingon to be really you know a killer in the gym but he was the one that makes the freaks list so I don't know do you know what I do know dude Poncho Outdoors makes the awesomest shirs I mean look at col McCoy in that shirt dude it is I mean look it isn't just that they're Big Texas fans or that you know they they sponsor the show or anything like that I'm just a giant fan of these shirts dude like once you get one you don't want to wear anything else that they have this um they have this technology these Poncho shirts especially the the the western shirts the one that I the ones I like to wear that are so breathable um you see Colt they fishing you know as he's as he's as he's wearing this shirt and kind of modeling it here it like the moisture wicking of these shirts all that stuff it's all really great but you know what if you're just going to wear this shirt around like around on the town to go out to eat something like that they you don't have to iron them they have this technology to where even if they're wrinkled you just hang them up and the wrinkles just go away it's like so much so much thought and so much detail is put into these shirts they are just amazing Cody was talking yesterday about wearing that hoodie down to Jacksonville um bucks down to Jaguars bucks joint practice and about how man it's like it's almost like it the the fabric on it it's like it keeps even a long sleeve shirt it keeps you cool it is just it's the best shirt that you can get whether it's for going out with a night with your wife going to church going um going out for a brunch on Sundays or like I always say man going going out to the ranch hanging out with friends starting the old campfire filling up the feeders going fishing all the rest of that stuff man Poncho is about that lifestyle it's that kind of brand it's built for people like you so if that sounds like you and you want a high quality shirt with an a awesome awesome caller and a lot of great features make sure and check out Poncho Out outdoors a great a a great sponsor here on football with friends um all right anything else from the players or do you want to talk about your Camp Intel from the rest of the from the rest of the from all these teams that Texas is gonna play I want I want to talk about a little Camp Intel because Alex I want to get uh I want to get you know reposted on on X again and and I want people talk smack just don't read the comments and that way you won't feel so Cyber Bullied no I want I want some comments send them to you I want to spam text you I don't read the comments people clip these shows for the Aggies I don't like I'm not gonna listen to the Aggies call me a donk I don't care it truly it dude like for real who are these who are these donkeys whenever I see whenever I see them clipping like I like it that they clip up our show and they share it amongst themselves but I'm not I'm I'm not going to read what they're saying are you kidding me that's a that's a good way a way to drive yourself crazy dog no way all right so let's start with Michigan here this is my column up on Michigan Quarterback UPDATE orange Bloods it's a labeled Jackson Arnold with an underwhelming scrimmage if you're going to look for it um I did have to change the title a hair because people were having a bu original title over my uh I think I said jackon arold with a I don't know what I said I don't know if I said Dreadful or uh do we have a dreadful scrimmage I don't know I was going to put abysmal I was going to put abysmal and I didn't do that because AB I don't want to be too mean but he can't well I'll read it to you but that's the title of the of the column if you want to go find it but let's start with Michigan we'll get to Oklahoma next start with Michigan here so where's our Michigan guy in the chat Les Austin or whatever is is he in here today maybe he'll chime in now that you're talking okay we'll see I haven't seen him in here today but so Michigan last week we talked about Alex or and Jack Tuttle about you know the dynamic ability that Alex orgy could bring with his 235 240 PB frame they C he's pretty good A Etc but this week's update this week's update I just wrote what a mess this was this was what I got from the Michigan site each quarterback has had good days Alex orgy has had good days Davis Warren has had good days Jack Tuttle has lagging behind a bit so Davis Warren now enters the chat and multiple people have suggested some issues getting back up to speed regarding Jack Tuttle I don't want to say anything more than that to avoid anyone getting mad at me LOL we're also told that Jaden Davis has been better than expected so now we're talking about a fourth quarterback now in the conversation from Michigan to start in dude they don't have a quarterback I think it's still between or it's still between orgy and Tuttle but the fact that Davis Warren now like seemingly super jumped into that conversation and now they're talking about this Jaden Davis kid like got to be a big warry um so wait all right so Davis war is a senior he's been there the whole time he just he just hadn't played he had yeah what about J Jaden Davis is that with a y or yeah so Jaden Davis Michigan so he was a f so he was a five star um so freshh or he is I guess I guess he's a what is he a fresh freshman all they have up is his prep stuff let me just look at his Rivals profile jayen Davis Rivals so I bet that's what it is I mean if if all these guys are this bad why not just go with so so no he's 2024 yeah 2024 Pro but he's a pro style quarterback 2024 signed with Michigan Alex four star I I think the thing has to be if if it's between four of these guys and you're Michigan with an offensive line that's respected also remember the note from last week there's only two offensive linemen I think it's the tackle and the guard that are like cemented in their role in this offensive line Room everybody else is competing still in a position battle um but it's still going to be a good offensive line then you have you know Donovan Edwards and you have a good defense you have to just lean into the run you just have to lean if it's this well I'm gonna say if it's that dude Tuttle then the Texas defensive line needs to be ready for just a just a just a faceful of Donovan Edwards all all all day long and he like and it's like it's the same thing it's the same thing I said it's the same thing I told Anan whenever he was on here I worry less about Donovan Edwards than I would have about Blake corm last year specifically behind that offensive line we always talk about about six offensive lineman drafted you can only start five and they had six drafted last year you know Blake km is your professional running back that I think versus this interior front of Texas would have cranked out it would have just I think it would have been tough to watch man I think that it would have been they would they would have had to you know they would have had to really really really sell out to stop him right but I do think with dude that that that that that guy Tuttle he's been a million places he just do never really play he never gets to start Alex orgy I mean i' at least at least I've seen him at camps i' haven't seen him running around throwing and trying to at Le like a some kind of you know some kind of quarterback I believe he was more of an a he's viewed more of as more of an athlete as a recruit um I think that you would if I were them I I would I would want the Wild Card of that I would want the ability to be able have the quarterback be able to hurt him with his feet and all the rest because I just think that I don't know man you look at this guy I mean I look at this dude Davis Warren it's like he's you know like they put up his stats and it's like you know like what he appeared in three games last year all this stuff like five what 19 or so whatever it was like you know like if if Texas sells out to stop the run against like I mean do you really think that this dude's gonna gonna break your back I I just you know no the one thing is it's I mean it's it's like Taff was saying earlier today to the media though it's like it's a lot of this stuff about these sure tackles and making sure that you tackle and you know he's talk about how a how a catch tackle is almost just as good as a pbu not as not as good as a pick but a catch tackle like if we have done that better last year we would have had much better numbers as far as our passing defense and that's obviously what he got from coach coach PK because coach that's how coach PK always defends the past defense last year right he says it was more tackling than scheme which I'm not sure I always believe I know it was more scheme in a couple different spots like Oklahoma Houston all all all the rest right but with Donovan Edwards He's the kind of guy who if you miss a tackle on him like he you know km's the professional running back that grinded out you need four yards he's going to get you seven now Donovan Edwards I think if you need four yards he might get you one but he might get you a 55 right you really you really got to butress that thing wrap that guy up bring bring your hips through contact the stuff we always talk about in the open field so if they if they can't get that going does Donovan Edwards remind you a little bit of Ken Walker in in that way it isn't exactly right is it it isn't exactly right right um yeah I don't think it's bad though but I do want to say one more thing because you're battling on about these running backs and not worried about Donovan Edwards Jordan Marshall was the number two running back in the 2024 class um he never I I'm not worried about Donovan Edwards I think he could bust off a 60 yard run on you but not as not as much I just want to let you know like like they are backloading Quorum being gone with this kid uh who's the number two running back in last year's class he's already climbed up to number three three in the running back uh depth chart for Michigan he had a north of 6,000 allpurpose yards almost 5,000 rushing yards and 80 career touchdowns uh in 40 49 high school games that's across up Four Seasons but Jordan Marshall uh probably guy we're gonna that game this the spec the specs chat we have a chat here Mike QB 91 how do you how do you access the specs chat line is there another platform people are watching this on sure that we have good content for you here every day 6 pm on orange Bloods live a quick reminder of course the war room tonight over on orange Bloods make sure and go check that out all right Cody Cody I need to hear about Jackson Jackson Arnold's abysmal scrimmage all right well I don't want you to have an opinion when I read this off I want your real honest response to re to hearing you read this call him yet or not okay so I want your honest like thoughts and and because what I got I posted this like late last night and I just got a bunch of people saying well Oklahoma Quarterback UPDATE the the title doesn't exactly match the write up and I was like well guess what it does you just you need to you know feel your glass the proper direction so scrimmage note Jackson Arnold threw two picks one was a tipped pass that had been caught by a wide receiver from what this play this person was told the other one was to Danny stutzman that was resulted in a pick six during a situational work in the Red Zone there was no spinning it that throw wasn't great as one person told U Insider it was like he was playing catch with stutzman on that throw but people act like throwing bad passes that just a floater out in the flats where stutzman was in Red Zone he had a he had a plenty of solid he had plenty of solid reps and there was more good than bad when he was given ample time to make throws sometimes he holds on to the ball too long and that comes with experience and the fact that he's going up against a defense that has been together for nearly three years now or at least going into year three they are further along than the offense and that better be the case early in Camp Alex people acting like I'm overreacting with this title Jackson Arnold had an abysmal scrimmage read the sentence over again right here it was like he was playing catch with stman on that throw but people act like d Jackson was just throwing bad passes and that just wasn't really the truth the next sentence he had plenty of solid reps and there was more good than bad when he was given ample time to make the throws sometimes he holds on to the ball too long and that comes with experience and the fact that he's going up against a good against a good defense those three I think underwhelming is a better way to describe it than abysmal based on that report the entire write up and I get this this is OU insiders they're supposed to make this sound good and they're probably gonna clip this and I don't care that those three sentences are the definition of I'm trying to fill this glass a little past half and not a little pass empty he had plenty of solid reps and there was more good than bad when he was given Apple time to make throws but guess what friends he's not just always gonna be given ample time to throw that's what they call a game you're talking about a scrimmage when the defense is going to be a little little less tense towards the quarterback sometimes he holds on to the ball too long but that comes with experience and the fact that he's playing a good defense well I'll tell you what he's going to play some pretty good he play pretty good one versus Arizona last year when they had six turnovers and that just happened to be that just happened to be coordinated by new C- defensive coordinator at Texas and linebackers coach Johnny nanson and the last thing I'm gonna say about this whole thing is another reason that goes into the thought process of me making this title was the fact that they're not exactly acting like this kid is supposed to come inab Texas A&M UPDATE team allamerican preseason first team All-American preseason Dylan Gabriel they pushed him out of town that's a wild way to put it the Athletics number one preseason all allamerican all right any any anything from anything Fromm or anything before we get out of here we got like two minutes A&M uh I went looking for uh scrimmage notes and the egel page had none of it there was actually somebody asked somebody asked um any chance we can get scrimmage notes and the and the mod just responded okay no I'd like to see how that flies over on orange Bloods man they people be out with pitchforks dude it's like no one one more Note One More note then then we can then we can wrap it up I did actually attempt to go like to a different team that maybe we're not playing I wanted to try to like dig into some Jamie French stuff so I went over to LSU couldn't find anything I didn't go look at Miami but I went to go look at Tennessee because Tennessee is o in one in his final four it's LSU Texas Tennessee and Miami thought right now it's just Miami and Texas but I want to do some digging so I go over to the VA report and it says oops we ran into some problems you have been banned why I've never been on the site so so no update on French just an update that you've been banned oh God all right well that well that's your final big update from Cody he's somehow been banned it's it's it's kind of like DeAndre Hopkins has blocked me on Twitter and I didn't know why until Cody did did some real deep digging to find out I didn't I didn't remember making making that part that particular post that that night but with that being said guys we can't thank you for being here um we can't thank you enough we again we respect your time we we we appreciate your time it's always a
