Trailhead to Barr Camp be slow yeah that'll be interesting yeah all right have fun thanks see you later yeah [Music] [Music] all [Music] [Applause] [Music] h [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Coffee Break at Barr Camp [Music] no [Music] [Applause] he it no I expected Barr Camp to The A-Frame [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] what [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] The A-Frame to Bottomless Pit [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] she [Music] [Music] Final Push to the Summit [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] thank over there like that or that over there maybe we should SC down a little [Applause] bit wait okay good luck Hike Recap and My Thoughts hey what's up everybody I hope that you enjoyed that video I started the hike at around 5:30 in the morning and it took me around 5 hours and 40 minutes to finish and get to the summit my total mileage for the day was a little bit over 14 mil this is simply because I was going back and forth to set up my camera so I just added a couple extra miles to what would have been around an 11.8 M heke the hike itself is pretty simple and there's no real technical spots you're on a trail the entire way but you are going up 7500 ft in elevation but in my opinion you don't really feel that until you get above tree line which is around 2 to 3 miles from the summit I also stopped at bar camp for a cup of coffee this sits at around the 6 Mile Mark or about the halfway point I bought my cup of coffee for a dollar and I'm not really sure if they take card or not but they also have snacks like candy bars or chips or they even have Gatorades up there if you want something other than coffee the caretakers are usually some of the most friendly people that you'll ever talk to so go inside and just say hi you'll be surprised at what a fun and interesting conversation you'll have there's also a bathroom here which makes it a perfect spot to take a little snack break and refill some of those water bottles now there's a few different ways that you can get down from this hike you can do what I've done before which is just basically hike all the way up and then hike all the way down which ends up being a little over a 23 Mile day which is honestly pretty damn exhausting or you can take the Cog down the Cog costs $35 for a one-way ticket and pretty much all you have to do is when you get to the summit you got to go find the conductor and he usually hangs out around where the train Parks when you see the conductor you'll know that it's the conductor he is dressed exactly like what you would imagine a conductor looks like and basically so you find him and just tell him you hiked up and you're hoping to get a ride down he will find a spot for you on the train all you have to do is give him a little bit of collateral this can be a driver's license or a credit card or even some money if you have some cash on you he'll take that he'll find you a seat he'll make sure that you get on the train um and then once you get to the bottom you just got to go find him again he'll give you your collateral back whatever you gave him um and then he'll walk you to the ticket office and then you'll just pay from there Pikes Peak is by far one of my favorite mountains in Colorado I'm a little bit biased because I've lived directly underneath it for pretty much my entire life so to me it feels a lot like home aside from that I think the views are absolutely stunning and the trail is just super unique and super cool um it's something that not a ton of 14ers in Colorado have aside from the Outro hike this type of video series is something that eventually I do want to do for all 58 14ers in the state of Colorado it's going to take me a few years but it's a project that I'm very excited about this summer my goal is to get to at least 20 videos which I know is pretty lofty considering it's already July but it's something that I'm super excited about I'm also curious if you guys even like this style of content so I would really appreciate it if you left a comment and just kind of let me know if this is something that you even enjoy watching I really appreciate you guys watching and I will see you in the next video peace this
